The Moderated-Mediatıon Role Of Work-Life Balance And Psychological Safety In The Effect Of Remote Working On Job Insecurity

Demirbağ, Orkun; Yozgat, Uğur; Demir, Hale Cide

Remote work, which was seen as a fashionable word in the pre-Covid-19 periods, has been the main focus of their lives as a flexible working arrangement, which has been introduced as the "new normal" that millions of employees had to pass overnight since March 2020, and employees must adapt quickly. People who work in the uncertain and chaotic environment created by the epidemic are faced with increasing levels of job insecurity, which indicates not only the loss of one's job but also the loss of various job characteristics that they want to protect with remote working arrangements. In this direction, event systems, boundary and conservation of resource theories constitute the theoretical background of the study. This study, based on the relevant theories, examines the moderating role of work-life balance and the mediating role of psychological security in the effect of remote work effectiveness on job insecurity. As a result of the survey conducted by 444 white-collar employees from the service and manufacturing sectors, the findings reveal that psychological security mediates the relationship between the effectiveness of working remotely and job insecurity, work-life balance increases the indirect positive effect of remote work effectiveness on the employees' psychological safety, and as work-life balance increases, this indirect effect also increases.

A new mindset for the independent audit during the times of pandemic crisis

Yesilelebi, Gl; Altunel, Mehtap; Selimoglu, Seval

The COVID-19 outbreak that occurred in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 caused changes in many areas. Although remote audit has been a topic that both academicians and practitioners have spoken about in recent years, many application alternatives are also offered regarding this issue. Although some of these alternatives have been put into practice, discussions continue about some of them. With the implementation of the remote (from home) working strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic period, it has become necessary to implement remote audit and make the necessary arrangements quickly. In this process, independent auditing standards must continue to be fit for purpose in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and that audit quality is maintained to the extent before the outbreak in the current uncertain environment. The purpose of this study is to create a perspective on which issues should be considered in the audit process within the scope of independent audit during the COVID-19 pandemic, in which direction arrangements are made within the framework of technological opportunities and independent auditing standards. This study is a review article, and in line with the purpose of the study, it was created by scanning the relevant literature. As a result of the study, it was found that arrangements were made within the scope of ISA 315-330-540- 560-570-600-700-720 during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, technology has been found to help in the fields such as evidence collecting, counting, conducting interviews, and various applications. At this point, auditors should pay attention to new risks that may arise from using technology.

    Privacy Awareness of Nursing Students

Özkan, Esra; Sahin, Ceyda Uzun; Cilingir, Dilek; Kulakaç, Nurşen

Objective: This study was conducted in a descriptive design type to determine the privacy awareness of nursing students and associated factors. Material and Methods: The sample of this descriptive study consisted of 490 nursing students studying in Gümüşhane University Health Sciences Faculty Nursing Department and Recep Tayyip Erdogan University Health Sciences Faculty Nursing Department. The data were collected with the questionnaire developed by the researchers and the Patient Privacy Scale. To evaluate the data, continuous variables were expressed as mean, standard deviation, median (25th-75th percentile), and categorical variables as numbers (percent). A comparison of variables that did not show normal distribution between groups was evaluated by the Mann-Whitney U test, KruskalWallis, Post-Hoc Tukey test and the relationship between numerical variables was evaluated by Spearman correlation analysis. Results: The study revealed that gender, place of residence, and education on privacy were the factors affecting privacy awareness. The reasons for the violation of privacy were determined as "careless work of nurses", "heavy workload of nurses", "environmental deficiencies", and "emergencies". The privacy scale scores of the students who chose 'emergencies' as the factor causing privacy violation were found significantly high in the confidentiality of private life (p=0.021), sexual privacy (p=0.014), physical privacy (p=0.039), ensuring a favorable environment (p=0.014), and privacy scale scores (p=0.007). Conclusion: It was found that the students had high scores on privacy, and patient privacy was affected by the students’ level of knowledge about gender, privacy, and place of residence. We suggest that training for privacy practices should be repeated at regular intervals when students start the profession.

The simple right ventricle contraction pressure index: A novel method for echocardiographic assessment of right ventricle dysfunction in acute pulmonary embolism

Acar, Emrah; Ozgul, Neryan; Izci, Servet

Purpose The simple right ventricular contraction pressure index (sRVCPI) is a new echocardiographic variable for estimating the right ventricular systolic function. Our aim was to investigate the association between the sRVCPI, the pulmonary embolism severity index (PESI), and mortality rate in acute pulmonary embolism (APE). Methods We included in this study 116 patients diagnosed with APE by pulmonary computed tomography angiography or ventilation/perfusion scintigraphy. They were divided into two groups based on the simplified PESI < or >1. Tricuspid regurgitation velocity and TAPSE were measured and used for sRVCPI calculation. Results Mortality was higher in patients with a higher sRVCPI (P < .001). In receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis using a cut-off level of 312.8 mm Hg mm, sRVCPI predicted mortality with a sensitivity of 86.8% and specificity of 69.5% (ROC area under curve: 0.712; 95%CI 0.597-0.882; P < .001). The sRVCPI was lower in the sPESI >1 than in the sPESI <1 group (364.3 +/- 31.9 vs 511.6 +/- 26.1; P < .001). There was an inverse correlation between sRVCPI and the sPESI score (-0.784; P < .001). Conclusion The sRVCPI correlated with the sPESI score and was associated with mortality in patients with APE. This easily measurable variable may be used to predict short-term mortality in APE patients.

Introduction: Mechanical obstruction is the most common form of nasal obstruction. Among the types of mechanical obstructions, septum deviation and inferior turbinate hypertrophy are the most prevalent. Objective: This study evaluated the early clinical outcomes of inferior turbinate radiofrequency and inferior turbinate lateralization combined with septoplasty in the treatment of nasal obstruction symptoms. Methods: The research retrospectively evaluated data from 33 patients (24 male, nine female) undergoing septoplasty and inferior turbinate radiofrequency (RF group) and 32 patients (24 male, eight female) treated with septoplasty and inferior turbinate lateralization (LAT group), who were admitted, with complaints of nasal obstruction, to the University of Health Sciences, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, between January 1, 2017 and January 1, 2018. The patients' preoperative and 6-month postoperative symptoms were evaluated via the Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation, the NOSE scale. Results: The mean preoperative NOSE scores were 10.3 +/- 4.2 in the RF group and 10.9 +/- 4.9 in the LAT group, and the mean six-month postoperative scores were 1.09 +/- 1.3 in the RF group and 1.2 +/- 1.3 in the LAT group. There was no significant difference in NOSE scores between the two groups (p> 0.05). Conclusion: The data obtained in this study show that both methods result in similar outcomes in terms of relieving nasal obstruction symptoms in patients requiring inferior turbinate intervention. Therefore, the researchers believe that, in each case, the intervention method should be selected at the discretion of the patient and surgeon(s).
