- MakaleAçık Erişim2025New Numerical Solutions for Caputo–Fabrizio Fractional Differential Multidimensional Diffusion Problems
Şahin, Yasin; Merdan, Mehmet
This study examined the multidimensional fractional diffusion equations that characterize the density dynamics in a diffusing medium utilizing the exact and analytical Aboodh transform decomposition method (ATDM). The Caputo–Fabrizio (CF) derivative is utilized to account for the fractional derivative that is being employed here. The suggested method handles nonlinear terms by combining the Adomian decomposition method (ADM) with the Aboodh transform (AT) and Adomian polynomials. Since the AT can only be applied to linear equations, ADM is a helpful technique for estimating solutions to nonlinear differential equations. In nonlinear systems, multidimensional diffusion problems which account for the production of stripes in two-dimensional systems are important. Additionally, we used MATLAB to compute numerical and graphical data that illustrate how the close-form analytical solution compares to the precise solution. Promising and appropriate for addressing multidimensional diffusion problems with fractional derivatives are the obtained results. The key benefit is that our devised approach does not depend on presumptions or constraints on variables that skew the actual issue. Overcoming fluctuating constraints that can make it difficult to discover the answer and represent the problem depends much on this technique. In the domains of science and technology, the approach presented in this work offers exceptional computational accuracy and convenience of use for analyzing and resolving intricate phenomena associated with CF fractional nonlinear partial differential equations.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2025Multi-sensor data fusion based on the similarity measure and belief (Deng) entropy under neutrosophic evidence sets
Köseoğlu, Ali; Şahin, Rıdvan; Demir, Ümit
The Dempster–Shafer evidence theory is a very practical concept for handling uncertain information. The foundation of this theory lies in the basic probability assignment (BPA), which exclusively accounts for the degree of support attributed to focal elements (FEs). In this study, neutrosophic evidence sets (NESs) are defined to introduce additional probabilistic measures, aimed at addressing the uncertainty, imprecision, incompleteness, and inconsistency present in real-world information. The basic element of NESs is a neutrosophic basic probability assignment (NBPA), which consists of three components. The truth degree of FEs is represented by the first BPA, the second BPA represents the indeterminacy degree of FEs, and the last BPA characterizes the falsity degree of FEs. In NESs, each support degree of FEs is shown separately without any limitation. Therefore, the general concept of NESs is broader compared to traditional evidence sets and intuitionistic fuzzy evidence sets. Unlike the neutrosophic set (NS), the NBPA method assigns truth-support, uncertainty-support, and false-support degrees, as well as these support degrees, to single and multiple subsets in a discriminative framework. This paper aimed to develop some information measures for NESs, such as neutrosophic Deng entropy (NDE), neutrosophic cosine similarity measure, and neutrosophic Jousselme distance. Then, an improved method based on NDE and neutrosophic cosine similarity measure was established to combine contradictory evidence to increase the influence of reliable evidence on the one hand and to reduce the influence of unreliable evidence on the other hand. Finally, a case involving sensor data integration for target identification was studied to highlight the importance of these innovative ideas. The numerical example demonstrates that the proposed method provides more reliable and superior fusion performance compared to classical models, particularly in scenarios involving high conflict and uncertain information. However, the effectiveness of the method is partially influenced by the structure of the similarity matrix and the entropy parameters, which necessitates careful parameter tuning to achieve optimal results. These limitations are explicitly highlighted to serve as a guide for future improvements and broader applications of the method.

Background: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease that can be influenced by nutritional status and dietary habits. In particular, adherence to the Mediterranean diet, known for its anti-inflammatory properties, is increasingly being investigated in relation to disease severity and nutritional status. Aims: This case–control study, including 50 psoriatic patients and 40 healthy controls, aimed to examine the correlation between adherence to the Mediterranean diet and disease severity, nutritional status, and disease presence in patients with psoriasis. Methods: The clinical severity of psoriasis was assessed using the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score. Anthropometric measurements were taken, and body composition was determined using bioelectrical impedance analysis. All participants’ Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener (PREDIMED) scores and 24-h food consumption records were evaluated. Results: The body weight (BW), waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC), and fat mass (FM) values of psoriatic patients were found to be significantly higher than those of the healthy control group (p < 0.05). The PREDIMED score of psoriatic patients was found to be significantly lower than that of the control group (p < 0.001). A negative correlation was observed between the PREDIMED score and BW, FM, and HC (p < 0.05). PASI levels decreased as PREDIMED scores increased (r = −0.314, p = 0.048). According to logistic regression analysis, after adjusting for age and sex, the likelihood of being healthy was approximately 6.363 times higher in those with high adherence to the Mediterranean diet (p < 0.001). Conclusion: When psoriatic patients were compared with healthy controls, significant differences were observed in PREDIMED scores. Notably, greater adherence to the Mediterranean diet was associated with reduced disease severity, suggesting a potential mitigating effect even in the presence of obesity.

Uzun, Sevda; Emirza, Elif Güzide; Gülırmak Güler, Kübra
Background: Nurses are among the most interactive professionals in society, providing both care and psychosocial and psychotherapeutic interventions for individuals with mental health issues. Nurse-centred approaches have demonstrated a positive impact on addressing mental health issues. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of psychosocial and psychotherapeutic interventions administered by nurses in managing mental health issues. Methods: For this meta-analysis, data were gathered through a comprehensive search of databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCOhost, Google Scholar and the YÖK Thesis Center, with no restrictions on publication year. Following the review process, a total of 25 studies were included in the analysis. The PRISMA checklist was employed to guide our study. Results: The meta-analysis revealed that interventions implemented by nurses in the context of mental health were effective. Specifically, the psychosocial and psychotherapeutic interventions significantly reduced depression levels in individuals (SMD: −0.918, 95% CI: −1.350 to −0.486; Z = −4.161; p < 0.05) and anxiety levels (SMD: −0.61, 95% CI: −1.190 to −0.029; Z = −2.59; p < 0.05). Additionally, these interventions were associated with an improvement in individuals' quality of life (SMD: 0.673, 95% CI: 0.303–1.403; Z = 3.56; p < 0.05). Conclusion: Nurses can play a pivotal role in addressing mental health issues, effectively contributing to the reduction of anxiety and depression levels while enhancing the overall quality of life for individuals.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2025Analyzing the October 16, 2024 MW 5.9 Kale (Malatya) earthquake in relation to the February 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake sequence and local tectonic dynamics
Senkaya, Mustafa; Alkan, Hamdi; Öztürk, Serkan; Büyüksaraç, Aydın
The 6 February 2023 Mw 7.7–7.6 Kahramanmaraş earthquake sequence has significantly impacted the East Anatolian Fault zone, including the city of Malatya and its immediate surroundings. In addition to the aftershocks of February 2023, the Mw 5.9 Kale earthquake that occurred on October 16, 2024, further underscores the ongoing seismic activity in the region. This study analyzes the distribution of b-values derived from a comprehensive dataset comprising 14,549 earthquakes and the Coulomb stress variations associated with the aftershocks of the February 2023 sequence and the Kale earthquake. The primary objective of this analysis is to enhance the understanding of the tectonic setting that contributed to the occurrence of the Kale earthquake. The findings indicate that the low b-values and stress transfer through the Pütürge segment toward the unnamed fault near Kale are significant contributing factors to the occurrence of the Kale earthquake. Additionally, positive stress variations from Doğanşehir to Malatya’s city center suggest a potential fault oriented toward the city center that may increase the current earthquake hazard. Furthermore, the distribution of seismic events around Malatya suggests a possible barrier supported by previous magnetic data analysis between Malatya and Kale. Lastly, the observed stress variations for the Kale earthquake indicate the likelihood of upcoming seismic events in both the northeast and southwest directions of the Kale.

Benedikt, M.; Zimmermann, F.; Auchmann, B.; Bartmann, W.; Burnet, J. P.; Carli, C.; Chancé, A.; Craievich, P.; Giovannozzi, M.; Grojean, C.
Volume 1 of the FCC Feasibility Report presents an overview of the physics case, experimental programme, and detector concepts for the Future Circular Collider (FCC). This volume outlines how FCC would address some of the most profound open questions in particle physics, from precision studies of the Higgs and EW bosons and of the top quark, to the exploration of physics beyond the Standard Model. The report reviews the experimental opportunities offered by the staged implementation of FCC, beginning with an electron-positron collider (FCC-ee), operating at several centre-of-mass energies, followed by a hadron collider (FCC-hh). Benchmark examples are given of the expected physics performance, in terms of precision and sensitivity to new phenomena, of each collider stage. Detector requirements and conceptual designs for FCC-ee experiments are discussed, as are the specific demands that the physics programme imposes on the accelerator in the domains of the calibration of the collision energy, and the interface region between the accelerator and the detector. The report also highlights advances in detector, software and computing technologies, as well as the theoretical tools/reconstruction techniques that will enable the precision measurements and discovery potential of the FCC experimental programme. The content and structure of this report are guided by the scope and priorities defined in the mandate of the FCC Feasibility Study. It is therefore not intended to serve as an exhaustive review of the full physics potential of FCC. Several topics, already covered in earlier reports such as the FCC CDR, are not reiterated here or are addressed only briefly, in alignment with the study's focus. This volume reflects the outcome of a global collaborative effort involving hundreds of scientists and institutions, aided by a dedicated community-building coordination, and provides a targeted assessment of the scientific opportunities and experimental foundations of the FCC programme.

Benedikt, M.; Zimmermann, F.; Auchmann, B.; Bartmann, W.; Burnet, J. P.; Carli, C.; Chancé, A.; Craievich, P.; Giovannozzi, M.; Grojean, C.
In response to the 2020 Update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics, the Future Circular Collider (FCC) Feasibility Study was launched as an international collaboration hosted by CERN. This report describes the FCC integrated programme, which consists of two stages: an electron-positron collider (FCC-ee) in the first phase, serving as a high-luminosity Higgs, top, and electroweak factory; followed by a proton-proton collider (FCC-hh) at the energy frontier in the second phase. The FCC-ee is designed to operate at four key centre-of-mass energies: the Z pole, the WW pair production threshold, the ZH production peak, and the top/anti-top production threshold-each delivering the highest possible luminosities to four experiments. Over 15 years of operation, FCC-ee will produce more than 6 trillion Z bosons, 200 million WW pairs, nearly 3 million Higgs bosons, and 2 million top anti-top pairs. Precise energy calibration at the Z pole and WW threshold will be achieved through frequent resonant depolarisation of pilot bunches. The sequence of operation modes between the Z, WW, and ZH substages remains flexible. The FCC-hh will operate at a centre-of-mass energy of approximately 85 TeV-nearly an order of magnitude higher than the LHC-and is designed to deliver 5 to 10 times the integrated luminosity of the upcoming High-Luminosity LHC. Its mass reach for direct discovery extends to several tens of TeV. In addition to proton-proton collisions, the FCC-hh is capable of supporting ion-ion, ion-proton, and lepton-hadron collision modes. This second volume of the Feasibility Study Report presents the complete design of the FCC-ee collider, its operation and staging strategy, the full-energy booster and injector complex, required accelerator technologies, safety concepts, and technical infrastructure. It also includes the design of the FCC-hh hadron collider, development of high-field magnets, hadron injector options, and key technical systems for FCC-hh.

Benedikt, M.; Zimmermann, F.; Auchmann, B.; Bartmann, W.; Burnet, J. P.; Carli, C.; Chancé, A.; Craievich, P.; Giovannozzi, M.; Grojean, C.
Volume 3 of the FCC Feasibility Report presents studies related to civil engineering, the development of a project implementation scenario, and environmental and sustainability aspects. The report details the iterative improvements made to the civil engineering concepts since 2018, taking into account subsurface conditions, accelerator and experiment requirements, and territorial considerations. It outlines a technically feasible and economically viable civil engineering configuration that serves as the baseline for detailed subsurface investigations, construction design, cost estimation, and project implementation planning. Additionally, the report highlights ongoing subsurface investigations in key areas to support the development of an improved 3D subsurface model of the region. The report describes the development of the project scenario based on the 'avoid-reduce-compensate' iterative optimisation approach. The reference scenario balances optimal physics performance with territorial compatibility, implementation risks, and costs. Environmental field investigations covering almost 600 hectares of terrain-including numerous urban, economic, social, and technical aspects-confirmed the project's technical feasibility and contributed to the preparation of essential input documents for the formal project authorisation phase. The summary also highlights the initiation of public dialogue as part of the authorisation process. The results of a comprehensive socio-economic impact assessment, which included significant environmental effects, are presented. Even under the most conservative and stringent conditions, a positive benefit-cost ratio for the FCC-ee is obtained. Finally, the report provides a summary of the studies conducted to document the current state of the environment.

BackgroundUterine leiomyosarcoma is a rare and aggressive malignancy with limited responsiveness to standard therapies. We conducted a real-world, multicenter study to compare the clinical efficacy and safety of two commonly used first-line chemotherapy regimens-doxorubicin-ifosfamide and gemcitabine-docetaxel-in patients with metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma.MethodsThis retrospective cohort included 271 patients with advanced or metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma treated between 2010 and 2023 across 30 centers in Turkey. Patients received either doxorubicin-ifosfamide (n = 142) or gemcitabine-docetaxel (n = 129) as first-line therapy. The primary endpoint was overall survival; secondary endpoints included progression-free survival, objective response rate, disease control rate, and safety. Adverse events were graded according to the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events version 5.0, while survival outcomes were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and further analyzed with Cox proportional hazards models.ResultsMedian overall survival was 19.7 months with doxorubicin-ifosfamide and 20.2 months with gemcitabine-docetaxel (P = .26). Median progression-free survival was 5.5 months with doxorubicin-ifosfamide and 7.0 months with gemcitabine-docetaxel (P = .62). The objective response rate was numerically higher with gemcitabine-docetaxel (35% vs. 26%), although not statistically significant (P = .11). Grade 3-4 neutropenia (16% vs. 12%) and febrile neutropenia (7% vs. 6%) were more frequent with doxorubicin-ifosfamide.ConclusionsIn this largest-to-date real-world cohort of metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma, doxorubicin-ifosfamide and gemcitabine-docetaxel demonstrated comparable survival outcomes. Gemcitabine-docetaxel, however, was associated with a more favorable hematologic safety profile. These findings support the clinical utility of both regimens while underscoring the need for prospective, biomarker-driven studies to refine treatment selection and improve personalization in this rare malignancy.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2025Efficacy of Second-Line Treatments After Atezolizumab and Bevacizumab in Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Related Prognostic Factors: A Multicenter Study by the Turkish Oncology Group (TOG)

Background/Aims: The treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which accounts for 90% of all liver cancers, is highly varied. The use of second-line treatments following progression on first-line atezolizumab and bevacizumab (Atez/Bev) for advanced HCC remains controversial. The aim of this study was to analyze the real-world clinical results of second-line treatments in progression after Atez/Bev and to determine the factors affecting prognosis. Materials and Methods: Fifty-eight patients treated with second-line sorafenib, regorafenib, and cabozantinib for progression after first-line Atez/Bev for advanced/metastatic HCC from 20 centers in T & uuml;rkiye between October 2020 and June 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. Responses were evaluated by Response criteria, specifically Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST v1.1) criteria. Median overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were computed with the Kaplan-Meier method. The Cox regression model was utilized to analyze multivariate analyses. Results: About 82.8% of the patients were male and the median age of the whole group was 62 (range, 18-78) years. All patients progressed after first-line Atez/Bev and were given second-line treatment. The most commonly used second-line treatment option was sorafenib (70.7%), followed by regorafenib (12.1%) and cabozantinib (10.3%). Both median PFS (4.1 months) and median OS (7.8 months) were longer in patients treated with sorafenib compared to other treatments. In univariate analyses, Child-Pugh score B, high alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels (>200 ng/mL), extrahepatic spread, and Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI) < 47.6 substantially raised the risk of overall mortality. Multivariate analysis showed that extrahepatic spread (HR (Hazard ratio): 0.41, P = .012), PNI level (HR: 0.24, P = .005), and AFP level (HR:1.97, P = .049) were independent predictors of OS. Conclusion: Although second-line therapies after Atez/Bev show different degrees of efficacy, survival rates are consistent with the literature. Extrahepatic spread, AFP level, and PNI level are the main prognostic factors. In light of this information, personalized treatment strategies may improve outcomes for this challenging patient group.

Background/Objectives: In the REGOMA trial, regorafenib demonstrated an overall survival advantage over lomustine, and it has become a recommended treatment for recurrent glioblastoma in guidelines. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of regorafenib as a third-line treatment for patients with recurrent glioblastoma who progressed while taking bevacizumab-based therapy. Methods: This retrospective, multicenter study in Turkey included 65 patients treated between 2021 and 2023 across 19 oncology centers. The main inclusion criteria were histologically confirmed isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-wildtype glioblastoma, progression after second-line bevacizumab-based treatment, and an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status score of <= 2. Patients received regorafenib 160 mg once daily for the first 3 weeks of each 4-week cycle. Results: The median age of the patients was 53 years (18-67 years), with a median progression-free survival of 2.5 months (95% Confidence Interval: 2.23-2.75) and a median overall survival of 4.1 months (95% CI: 3.52-4.68). The median overall survival was improved in patients who received subsequent therapy after regorafenib treatment compared with those who did not (p = 0.022). Progression-free survival was longer in patients with ECOG 0-1 than in those with ECOG 2 (p = 0.042). The safety profile was consistent with that of the REGOMA trial, with no drug-related deaths observed. Conclusions: Regorafenib shows good efficacy and safety as a third-line treatment for recurrent glioblastoma after bevacizumab-based therapy. This study supports the use of regorafenib and emphasizes the need for further randomized studies to validate its role and optimize treatment strategies.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of mortality in chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, the pathogenesis of CVD in CKD remains incompletely understood. Endothelial extracellular vesicles (EC-EVs) have previously been associated with CVD. We hypothesized that CKD alters EV release and cargo, subsequently promoting vascular remodelling. We recruited 94 children with CKD, including patients after kidney transplantation and healthy donors, and performed EV phenotyping and functional EV analyses in the absence of age-related comorbidities. Plasma EC-EVs were increased in haemodialysis patients and decreased after kidney transplantation. Thirty microRNAs were less abundant in total CKD plasma EVs with predicted importance in angiogenesis and smooth muscle cell proliferation. In vitro, CKD plasma EVs induced transcriptomic changes in angiogenesis pathways and functionally impaired angiogenic properties, migration and proliferation in ECs. High shear stress, as generated by arterio-venous fistulas, and uremic toxins were considered as potential drivers of EV release, but only the combination increased EV generation from venous ECs. The resulting EVs recapitulated miRNA changes observed in CKD in vivo. In conclusion, CKD results in the release of EVs with altered miRNA profiles and anti-angiogenic properties, which may mediate vascular pathology in children with CKD. EVs and their miRNA cargo may represent future therapeutic targets to attenuate CVD in CKD.

The ancient city of Tarsus is underlying a sediment of 400 cm where the contemporary Tarsus grew. The diffusely stratified layers of the deposited sediment from the Kydnos (Tarsus) river overlying the Roman Road excavation site located in the heart of the modern city. The sediment is laden with technogenic materials. The profile of the stratigraphic layers represents a Pedocomplex (PDC) and its horizons are the Pedomembers (PDMs). All the PDMs were described and sampled for physical, chemical, mineralogical, micromorphological, and thermoluminescense analyses seeking pedogenic evidences. The origin of PDC materials is a fluvial and/or lagoon environment (archaeologically predicted date, about 60 CE, and they are calcareous, high in available P and some are high in total phosphorus contents). They have been partially modified by human activity in a settlement area, thus bringing some historical evidence suggesting that the site was part of the growing city after its abandonment. Thin sections show a vigorous biological degradation of the organic residues in the PDMs along with occasional evidence of soil-forming processes. The preliminary conclusions were extracted from the results obtained through the newly formed hydroxyapatite (Hap) determined by micromorphology, therefore proposing the new suffix pi for the WRB soil naming system. Primary, high temperature and clay minerals together with TL analyses of the layers, were conducted to reveal the provenance and weathering phases of the horizons. The seeds recovered from an inhabited layer helped to interpret the food and medicinal habits of the local society and the contemporary presence of the lagoon.

Uysal, I. Tonguc; Karabacak, Volkan; Aykut, Tunahan; Ring, Uwe; Liu, Entao; Sancar, Taylan; Leonard, Nicole; Tong, Kui; Todd, Andrew J.; Temel, Abidin
The North Anatolian Fault (NAF), one of the most prominent plate boundary continental fault systems on Earth, facilitates the westward movement of the Anatolian microplate into the Aegean region. The temporal and spatial evolution of the NAF is important for understanding the mechanism of escape tectonics during plate interaction in active orogenic regions. The driving force(s) behind the movement of the NAF and the time period over which this occurred remain controversial. Our U-Pb and K-Ar dating of syntectonic minerals shows that a predecessor faulting initiated as early as similar to 40 Ma due to shortening along the Neo-Tethyan suture zone. Fault reactivations occurred at similar to 20 and 10 Ma synchronously in eastern and western Anatolia, suggesting that the NAF already existed by similar to 20 Ma. Our data also show that the westward motion of Anatolia was not only controlled by the Arabia-Eurasia collision in eastern Anatolia, but also by Aegean extension.

The need for transportation is increasing with the effect of globalization in the developing economic system. The transportation sector, which is essential for economic development, may pose some threats to a sustainable environment. Although European countries have achieved various successes in reducing carbon emissions, they are struggling to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from transportation. To overcome this difficulty, European countries are using various policy instruments such as environmental taxes. In this context, this study investigated the impact of disaggregated environmental taxes (pollution, energy, and transport), structural change, and institutional quality on transport-related carbon emissions (water, air, and road transport) in 24 European countries over the period 2008-2022. To this end, the study uses the novel half-panel jackknife estimation and the bias-corrected method of moments. The results indicate that there is no long-term relationship between environmental taxes and water transportation-related CO2 emissions. In contrast, structural changes and pollution taxes are effective in reducing road and air transport-related CO2 emissions. These results suggest that European countries should focus on reducing CO2 emissions through effective pollution taxes and encourage carbon taxes instead of energy and transport taxes, thereby supporting the European Green Deal's goal of becoming the first climate-neutral continent.

This study presents a complete alteration sequence in chromitites from the Kizildag ophiolite (southern T & uuml;rkiye), documenting three distinct chromite types that record processes related to Neotethyan subduction. Chromitites exhibit predominantly lenticular forms and occasionally banded textures, embedded within mantle peridotites and the mantle-crust transition zone, specifically harzburgite and dunite. Our analysis categorizes chromite grains into three groups: fresh, altered, and porous. Fresh chromites are characterized by high contents of Cr2O3 ranging from 42.69 to 57.08 wt% and Al2O3 from 12.46 to 25.34 wt%. In contrast, altered chromites, typically located along fractures or at the edges of fresh grains, show significant variability in chemical composition, with Cr2O3 content between 43.34 and 63.94 wt% and Al2O3 between 2.91 and 14.84 wt%. Porous chromites, distinguished by their porous structure, present Cr2O3 contents from 44.58 to 52.66 wt% and Al2O3 from 3.00 to 8.38 wt%. Notably, altered and porous chromites demonstrate substantial enrichments in Fe and trace elements such as Mn, Ni, Zn, Co, and Ga, indicating a shift due to metamorphic processes. The observed high Cr# (0.68-0.93) and low Mg# (0.25-0.65) values in rims of the altered and porous chromite further illustrate the metamorphic influence on chromite, with greenschist-facies conditions indicated by the Cr-Al-Fe3+ diagram at temperatures below 450 degrees C. The alteration dynamics reflect a progression that initiates with the olivine matrix and advances through reactions involving fresh chromites. This progression results in mass loss, the formation of chlorite, and the porous structures. Our findings contribute to the understanding of metamorphic alteration processes in chromitites and provide a detailed account of the geochemical trends (such as Fe/Mg exchange and trace element enrichment) that reflect greenschist-facies metamorphism. The evidence of chlorite formation and the prevalence of porous textures highlight the influence of metamorphic fluids over serpentinization, offering a model for chromite alteration in supra-subduction zones. This research elucidates the metamorphic history of chromitites in the Kizildag ophiolite.

Background: Fetuin-A prevents the precipitation of hydroxyapatite in supersaturated solutions of calcium and phosphate; however, its relationship with nephrolithiasis has yet to be clarified. The aim of this study was to investigate the protective and predictive roles of serum and urine fetuin-A levels in nephrolithiasis and their relationships with the composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI). Methods: This study involved 75 adult patients with kidney stone disease and 71 healthy adults without kidney stone disease in the control group. Participants had specific anthropometric measurements taken, and three-day food records were kept. The CDAI was calculated by summing six standard antioxidants, including vitamins A, C, and E, manganese, selenium, and zinc, representing participants' antioxidant profile. In addition to some analyzed serum and urine parameters of the participants, fetuin-A levels were measured using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. Results: In patients with kidney stones, both serum and urine fetuin-A levels (676.3 +/- 160.14 ng/mL; 166.6 +/- 128.13 ng/mL, respectively) were lower than in the control group (1455.6 +/- 420.52 ng/mL; 2267.5 +/- 1536.78 ng/mL, respectively) (p < 0.00001). In contrast, the CDAI was higher in patients with kidney stones compared to those without kidney stones (p < 0.001). Besides, several dietary parameters had significant positive correlations with serum and/or urinary fetuin-A. Conclusions: The present study suggests that serum and urinary fetuin-A levels may serve as protective factors against kidney stones and could potentially be used as predictive markers for the development of nephrolithiasis. Furthermore, our results suggest that the CDAI above a certain level may increase the risk of stone formation and that some dietary parameters may affect the levels of this biomarker in serum and urine.
