Aydın, Esra; Özcan, Handan; Karakaş, Sevda; Uzun, Sevda
Objectives: To evaluate the effects of psychosocial interventions on sexual function, quality of life, and stress levels in women with gynecologic cancer. Methods: This systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCOhost, Google Scholar, and the YÖK Thesis Center were searched between June and July 2024 without year restriction. Randomized controlled and quasi-experimental studies evaluating psychosocial interventions were included. Data were synthesized using meta-analysis and narrative synthesis. Outcomes were synthesized separately for sexual function, quality of life, and stress. Results: Seven studies were included in the analysis. Psychosocial interventions significantly improved sexual function (SMD: 0.868; 95% CI: 0.021 to 1.715; Z = 2.008; p = 0.045; I2 = 89.97%) and quality of life (SMD: 0.709; 95% CI: 0.060 to 1.358; Z = 2.142; p = 0.032; I2 = 88.61%) in women with gynecologic cancer. However, psychosocial interventions did not demonstrate a significant effect on stress levels (SMD: − 1.126; 95% CI: − 2.649 to 0.397; Z = − 1.449; p = 0.147; I2 = 95.65%). Conclusion: This systematic review and meta-analysis indicates that psychosocial interventions are associated with improvements in sexual function and quality of life among women with gynecologic cancer, whereas no statistically significant reduction in stress was observed. Although substantial between-study heterogeneity was present, the overall evidence supports the integration of psychosocial approaches into supportive oncology nursing care.

- MakaleYalnız künye2026Scopus SJRQ1A reliability generalization meta-analysis of job insecurity scales: Evidence from hospitality and tourism research
Polat, Eray
The study examines the pooled reliability estimates of job insecurity (JI) scales employed in hospitality and tourism (H&T) research. By synthesizing reported reliability coefficients and identifying moderators influencing score consistency, this meta-analytic study consolidates the fragmented psychometric evidence in the field. Reliability coefficients were derived from 140 independent samples comprising 56,265 respondents. Pooled reliability estimates were calculated separately for each scale, and moderator analyses were performed to explain the variability. Findings indicate that De Witte's (2000) scale is the most frequently utilized scale. Pienaar et al.’s (2013) scale yielded the highest estimate (α=.94, 95% CI [.89.,97]), whereas Hellgren and Sverke's (2003) scale demonstrated the lowest (α=.82, 95% CI [.78.,85]). Moderator analyses revealed that scale version, publication year, number of items, sample size, scale mean, and gender distribution significantly influenced reliability estimates. The study provides robust, context-dependent evidence to inform the selection of JI scales.

- Derleme MakaleYalnız künye2026Scopus SJRQ1Immunosuppressant adherence levels in kidney transplant recipients measured by electronic monitoring devices: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Tuncer, Metin; Yalcinkaya, Turgay; Erol, Ahmet; Özalp, Cemal
Background: Kidney transplantation improves survival and quality of life in patients with end-stage renal disease; however, long-term graft success depends on adherence to immunosuppressive therapy. Objective: To quantify adherence levels among kidney transplant recipients using electronic monitoring devices. Methods: PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library were systematically searched for studies published between 2000 and 2025. A random-effects meta-analysis was conducted including studies that assessed adherence using electronic monitoring devices. Results: Seven studies with a total of 1025 kidney transplant recipients were included. The pooled mean adherence measured using electronic monitoring devices was 94.39%. In studies with monitoring durations of three months or longer, adherence decreased to 90.50%. Substantial heterogeneity was observed across studies. Conclusion: Although electronically measured adherence appears generally high, its decline over longer monitoring periods indicates that adherence is dynamic and may decrease over time. However, these estimates should be interpreted cautiously because electronic monitoring devices cannot confirm actual medication ingestion. Furthermore, intentionally non-adherent patients may be less likely to participate in or remain engaged with electronic monitoring studies and may therefore be underrepresented, potentially leading to an overestimation of true adherence. Even modest reductions in adherence may carry important clinical consequences, underscoring the need for sustained monitoring.
- Derleme MakaleYalnız künye2026Scopus SJRQ1Virtual reality as a non-pharmacological adjuvant for anxiety in oncology care: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Aydin, Aydanur; Bağcivan, Gülcan; Özkan, Aleyna
Background: Despite its growing presence in healthcare settings, research on the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) interventions for symptom experience of patients with cancer remains varied and requires a comprehensive synthesis to reach definitive conclusions. Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the effectiveness of VR interventions in managing anxiety among individuals diagnosed with cancer. Methods: A comprehensive search of Ovid MEDLINE, PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, and Scopus databases was conducted for studies published from 2000 to November 2025. Publications were evaluated by independent reviewers for inclusion. The methodological quality of the included studies was assessed via Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) critical appraisal tools for randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies. Results: Twenty-one publications satisfied the requirements for review inclusion. The meta-analysis demonstrated that VR-based interventions were significantly effective in the management of patients’ anxiety, yielding a moderate-to-high effect size (SMD = −0.793, 95% CI = −1.403 to −0.184; Z = −2.551; p = 0.011). Most studies reported statistically significant decreases in anxiety scores across various cancer types, including breast, prostate, and ovarian cancers. No major side effects were reported, although minor instances of cyber sickness were managed by adjusting session durations. User satisfaction was exceptionally high, with satisfaction scores reaching 4.47/5 and 7.35/10. Implications for practice: The results support the use of VR as an effective and safe non-pharmacological intervention for anxiety management. The findings highlight the potential for VR to be integrated into routine oncology nursing and palliative care to improve the patient experience during stressful treatments like chemotherapy. Conclusion: VR-based interventions are an effective, safe, and highly acceptable approach for managing anxiety in patients with cancer. Further research is needed to support wider clinical implementation and to investigate the potential benefits of VR for other physical and psychological symptoms over longer follow-up periods. Trial registration: PROSPERO International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews CRD42022351573.

- MakaleYalnız künye2025Scopus SJRQ1ChatGPT-4 in Nursing Research: A Methodological Evaluation of Bias Risk in Randomized Controlled Trials
Tuncer, Metin; Tuncer, Gülsüm Zekiye
Background: Conducting bias assessments in systematic reviews is a time-consuming process that involves subjective judgments. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to perform these assessments can potentially save time and enhance consistency. Nevertheless, the efficacy of AI technologies in conducting bias assessments remains inadequately explored. Aim: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of ChatGPT-4o in assessing bias using the revised Cochrane RoB2 tool, focusing on randomized controlled trials in nursing. Methods: ChatGPT-4o was provided with the RoB2 assessment guide in the form of a PDF document and instructed to perform bias assessments for the 80 open-access RCTs included in the study. The results of the bias assessments conducted by ChatGPT-4o for each domain were then compared with those of the meta-analysis authors using Cohen's weighted kappa analysis. Results: Weighted Cohen's kappa values showed better agreement in bias in the measurement of the outcome (D4, 0.22) and bias arising from the randomization process (D1, 0.20), while negative values in bias due to missing outcome data (D3, −0.12) and bias in the selection of the reported result (D5, −0.09) indicated poor agreement. The highest accuracy was observed in D5 (0.81), and the lowest in D1 (0.60). F1 scores were highest in bias due to deviations from intended interventions (D2, 0.74) and lowest in D3 (0.00) and D5 (0.00). Specificity was higher in D5 (0.93) and D3 (0.82), while sensitivity and precision were low in these domains. Conclusions: The agreement between ChatGPT-4o and the meta-analysis studies in the same RCT assessments is generally low. This indicates that ChatGPT-4o requires substantial enhancements before it can be used as a reliable tool for bias risk assessments. Clinical Relevance: The AI–based tools have the potential to expedite bias assessment in systematic reviews. However, this study demonstrates that ChatGPT-4o, in its current form, lacks sufficient consistency, indicating that such tools should be integrated cautiously and used under continuous human oversight, particularly in evidence-based evaluations that inform clinical decision-making.

Hedge’s g test statistics were used to determine the joint effect between acupressure and control groups in the meta-analysis study. Results: In this meta-analysis study, 409 patients from the acupressure group and 403 patients from the control group were included. When calculating the average standardised difference value of the acupressure versus the control group, it was determined that acupressure decreased the fatigue score in a statistically significant way. Conclusion: Acupressure is an effective approach to alleviate cancer-related fatigue.

- MakaleYalnız künye2024Scopus SJRQ2The effect of nonpharmacological interventions applied by nurses to intensive care patients on the duration of delirium: a meta-analysis study
Söylemez, Gönül Kara; Uzun, Sevda
Objective: It was aimed to determine the effect level of nonpharmacological methods applied by nurses to patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit on the duration of delirium. Materials and methods: For this study, relevant studies were accessed by searching in July–October 2022. After the necessary exclusions were made, 14 studies were included in the study. The total sample size of the studies was 1123. Results: According to the results, nonpharmacological interventions applied by nurses to intensive care patients were found to reduce the duration of delirium (SMD: − 0.625, 95% CI: − 1.1040–0.210; Z = − 2.950, p = 0.003, I2 = 93.119%). The country of the study (SMD: − 0.047, p = 0.001) and the types of nonpharmacological interventions used (SMD: − 0.062, p = 0.000) influenced the effect size of modulators on the duration of delirium in ICU patients. Conclusion: Nonpharmacological interventions applied by nurses, who have significant responsibilities in the protection and promotion of health, were found to reduce the duration of delirium in intensive care patients. This study shows that nurses, one of the main components of the multidisciplinary team in intensive care, are successful when they apply nonpharmacological interventions well.

- MakaleYalnız künye2024Scopus SJRQ1Effect of Lavender Oil on Preoperative Anxiety: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Kulakaç, Nurşen; Sayılan, Aylin Aydın
Purpose: Surgical interventions are known to induce anxiety in patients due to the associated risks and potential complications. Various methods are employed to alleviate preoperative anxiety. This study aimed to investigate the impact of lavender oil application on the anxiety levels of patients scheduled for surgical procedures. Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods: Studies were accessed using the keywords “preoperative and lavender oil and stress” in Turkish and English between July 1 and 30, 2022, through PubMed (including MEDLINE), Cochrane, EBSCOhost, Web of Science, YÖK National Thesis Center, and Google Scholar. The standardized mean difference was calculated using random-effects models, and the Cochrane Collaboration tool was used to assess the risk of bias in each study. The study was prepared according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis checklist. Findings: Twenty studies were included in the analysis. The anxiety level of the experimental group to which lavender oil was applied before the surgical intervention was significantly lower than that of the control group (standardized mean difference:−5.40; 95% CI: −8.76 to −2.04). Conclusion: Preoperative lavender oil application was found to be an effective method for relieving patients’ anxiety. Lavender oil is thought to be a potential standalone treatment for preoperative anxiety.
