Illness perception, perceived social support and quality of life in patients with diagnosis of cancer

Aydın Sayılan, Aylin; Demir Doğan, Melike

Introduction: Research has shown that social support has a significant impact on quality of life. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to determine the relationship between perceived social support, perception of disease and quality of life, and the factors affecting these, in patients with cancer in Turkey. Methods: The study data were collected from two hospitals. Data were collected using the face-to-face interview method from patients diagnosed with cancer between March and August 2018. No sampling was performed, and the entire population was studied. Results: The mean age of the patients in the study was 61.37 ± 14.89 years. Married patients had better social support than single individuals (t = 2.129; p = 0.035). Significant negative correlation was found between the illness perception scale and total quality of life scale score (r = −0.163; p = 0.026), and physical well-being (r = −0.224; p = 0.002) and social well-being (r = −0.199; p = 0.006) subscales. Conclusion: Patients’ social support and quality of life were at moderate levels. Married participants had better social support than single participants, and operated participants had better social support than unoperated participants. As illness perception decreased, quality of life, physical well-being and social well-being increased.

Investigation of linear difference equations with random effects

    Merdan, Mehmet; Şişman, Şeyma

In this study, random linear difference equations obtained by transforming the components of deterministic difference equations to random variables are investigated. Uniform, Bernoulli, binomial, negative binomial (or Pascal), geometric, hypergeometric and Poisson distributions have been used for the random effects for obtaining the random behavior of linear difference equations. The random version of the Z-transform, the RZ-transform, has been used to obtain an approximation for the random linear difference equation. Approximate expected values and variances are calculated by using the RZ-transform. The results have been obtained with Maple and are shown in graphs. It is shown that the random Z-transform is an effective tool for the investigation of random linear difference equations.

The impact of dietary tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus) on serum apelin, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, cardiac troponin concentrations and histopathology of liver tissue in laying hens housed at different stocking densities

Bayraktar, Bulent; Tekce, Emre; Kaya, Hacer; Karaalp, Musa; Turunc, Eylul

Due to its association with several other stress factors (poultry house gases, inadequate ventilation, heat, cold and poor hygiene), the high stocking density is a major stress factor that adversely affects the health and performance of poultry and the quality of the poultry products. Therefore, this experimental study was aimed at analysing the impact of different doses of dietary tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus) on the serum apelin, plasma brain-derived neurotrophic factor (p-BDNF), and cardiac troponin I (cTnI) concentrations, and the correlation between these indicators in laying hens housed at different stocking densities. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of adding tarragon in different ratios to laying hen rations in the 2ndovulation period on the cTnI, apelin, and BDNF hormone concentrations and the liver histopathology. The experiment was carried out over a period of eight weeks, with 192 Lohman Brown commercial hybrids at 50 weeks of age. Eight groups (four replicates each), composed of laying hens of equal body weight, which were housed at stocking densities of 580 cm2/hen and 810 cm2/hen and received 0, 1, 5 and 10 mmol/kg of tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus) in the feed, were established. At the end of the trial, 96 of the housed egg-laying hens (3 birds in each subgroup, a total of 12 birds in each group) were randomly selected and blood samples were taken from the vena subcutanea ulnaris. The samples collected were analysed for the apelin, p-BDNF, and cTnI contents. The analysis results demonstrated that tarragon supplementation had no effect on the serum apelin, p-BDNF and cTnI concentrations (P > 0.05). The Sub-Groups ST1, ST1.2, and ST6 presented with severe hyperaemia of the sinusoidal, portal and acinar blood vessels, whilst the hyperaemia of these blood vessels was moderate in Sub-Group ST12. Apelin, BDNF, and cTnI can act as protective factors against negative consequences of stress (e.g., stocking density or heat stress).

Forward converter-based distributed global maximum power point tracking in partial shading conditions

    Başoğlu, Mustafa Engin

Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is an essential part of a photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems to obtain the possible biggest efficiency. In partial shading conditions (PSCs), distributed MPPT strategy is used to eliminate mismatching cases between PV modules and load. In this study, forward converter-based distributed MPPT approach is presented for small power module-level and submodule-level MPPT applications. First, operation principles of a forward converter are explained for an MPPT application. Then, performance of a forward converter is evaluated by perturb and observe (P&O) algorithm for module-level and submodule-level MPPT systems in MATLAB/Simulink. Simulation results show that in module-level MPPT technique, forward converter cannot track global maximum power point (MPP) in some PSCs. On the other hand, submodule-level MPPT guarantees global MPPT (GMPPT). Average tracking efficiencies are calculated as 71.24% and 95.34% for module-level and submodule-level MPPT, respectively. That is, submodule-level MPPT outperforms module-level MPPT. On the other hand, submodule-level MPPT is more expensive solution since hardware requirements are very high compared with the module-level MPPT strategy.

OPPORTUNITIES PROVIDED BY REMOTE SENSING DATA FOR WATERSHED MANAGEMENT: EXAMPLE OF KONYA CLOSED BASIN

Yagmur, Nur; Tanik, Aysegul; Tuzcu, Aylin; Musaoglu, Nebiye; Erten, Esra; Bilgilioglu, Baha

Remote sensing data provides great opportunities in various steps of watershed management like characterization of watersheds that bear dynamic structure with large land, monitoring the physical variations within the basin, and conducting various scenario analyses to detect the response of the basin. The high resolution capacity of today’s satellite images enables the production of land use/cover data of a basin in shorter period of time. In this study, it is aimed to demonstrate various aspects of remote sensing technology to be used in watershed management studies. For that purpose, MODIS, Landsat and Sentinel satellite data with different spatial resolutions were used to monitor the surface water bodies in Konya Closed Basin (KCB) of Turkey. In addition, high spatial Worldview-3 satellite data were used to extract detailed information about Akgol Wetland located in KCB. A methodology was developed on the utilization of remote sensing technology consisting of 3 main groups; field surveys, satellite images and ancillary data. In the study, 5 different spectral indices were applied to Sentinel 2 data to determine the areas of surface water bodies. Moreover, Support Vector Machine (SVM) method was applied to Worldview-3 satellite image to classify Akgol Wetland and its vicinity. The importance of establishing watershed information system together with a database reflecting the characteristics of watersheds was underlined. Various examples were given from KCB that is known as the largest closed basin of the country with a surface area of 5.426.480 ha. The basin owns 17 water bodies out of which 2 of them are RAMSAR sites. Within the scope of the study, information obtained from optical and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite images in the basin were discussed. More accurate results were achieved by Sentinel 2 than MODIS and Landsat data. In addition, detailed information about the wetland were extracted by means of Worldview-3 data and water bodies were monitored in all weather conditions via Sentinel 1 SAR data.

Eocene I-type magmatism in the Eastern Pontides, NE Turkey: insights into magma genesis and magma-tectonic evolution from whole-rock geochemistry, geochronology and isotope systematics

Kaygusuz, Abdullah; Yücel, Cem; Arslan, Mehmet; Temizel, İrfan; Yi, Keewook; Jeong, Youn-Joong; Siebel, Wolfgang; Sipahi, Ferkan

The Eastern Pontides orogenic belt in NE Turkey hosts numerous I-type plutons of Eocene epoch. Here, we report new U–Pb SHRIMP zircon ages and in situ zircon Lu-Hf isotopes along with bulk-rock geochemical and Sr-Nd-Pb-O isotope data from the Kemerlikdağı, Aydıntepe and Pelitli plutons and mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs) to constrain their parental melt source(s) and evolutionary processes. U-Pb SHRIMP zircon dating yielded crystallization ages between 45 and 44 Ma for the studied plutons and their MMEs. The plutons range from gabbro to granite and have I-type, medium to high-K calc-alkaline, and metaluminous to slightly peraluminous characteristics. On the primitive mantle-normalized multi-trace-element variations, the plutons and their MMEs are characterized by significant enrichment in LILE/HFSE. Chondrite-normalized REE patterns of the plutons and their MMEs are close to each other and show moderate enrichment with variable negative Eu anomalies. The studied plutons have fairly homogeneous isotope composition (87Sr/86Sr(i) = 0.70502 to 0.70560; εNd(i) = +0.9 to–1.4; δ18O = +5.0 to +8.7‰, εHf(i) =–2.2 to +13.5). The MMEs show medium to high-K calc-alkaline and metaluminous character. Although the isotope signatures of the MMEs (87Sr/86Sr(i) = 0.70508 to 0.70542; εNd(i) = +0.9 to −1.1; δ18O = +5.8 to +8.0, εHf(i) = +4.3 to +10.4) are very similar to those of the host rocks. Fractionation of plagioclase, amphibole, pyroxene and Fe-Ti oxides played an important role in the evolution of the plutons. The isotopic composition of the studied plutons and MMEs are similar to I-type plutons derived from mantle sources. The MMEs show incomplete magma mixing/mingling, representing small bodies of mafic parental magma. The parental magma(s) of the studied plutons were generated from the enriched lithospheric mantle and then modified by fractional crystallisation, and lesser assimilation and mixing/mingling in the crustal magma chambers.

An assessment of machine learning models for slump flow and examining redundant features

    Ünlü, Ramazan

Over the years, several machine learning approaches have been proposed and utilized to create a prediction model for the high-performance concrete (HPC) slump flow. Despite HPC is a highly complex material, predicting its pattern is a rather ambitious process. Hence, choosing and applying the correct method remain a crucial task. Like some other problems, prediction of HPC slump flow suffers from abnormal attributes which might both have an influence on prediction accuracy and increases variance. In recent years, different studies are proposed to optimize the prediction accuracy for HPC slump flow. However, more state-of-the-art regression algorithms can be implemented to create a better model. This study focuses on several methods with different mathematical backgrounds to get the best possible results. Four well-known algorithms Support Vector Regression, M5P Trees, Random Forest, and MLPReg are implemented with optimum parameters as base learners. Also, redundant features are examined to better understand both how ingredients influence on prediction models and whether possible to achieve acceptable results with a few components. Based on the findings, the MLPReg algorithm with optimum parameters gives better results than others in terms of commonly used statistical error evaluation metrics. Besides, chosen algorithms can give rather accurate results using just a few attributes of a slump flow dataset.

Non-Diatom Algae of the High Mountain Protected Lakes in the Artabel Lakes Nature Park, Gümüşhane, Turkey

Şahin, Bülent; Akar, Bülent; Barinova, Sophia

For the first time, we studied 18 lakes of the Artabel Lakes Nature Park and revealed 154 species of non-diatoms algae from four taxonomic Divisions. Charophyta (73 taxa) prevails in the flora and mainly represented by the genus Cosmarium (37). Cyanobacteria (42), Chlorophyta (30) and Eunlenozoa (9) are also present. New records for the Turkish algae flora are represented by 31 taxa, most of which belong to Cosmarium (15) and Staurastrum (5). Rare species from benthic cyanobacteria were revealed in communities of the Artabel Lake. Statistical methods revealed a high individuality of the algae communities and divided it into two major group: Acambol–Yıldız, and Beş–Artabel, which belong to different River Basins. The altitude of the lakes appears to be the major environmental variable that controls the non-diatom algal diversity. Bioindication characterized the water of studied lakes as temperate by temperature, middle saturated with oxygen, neutral to low acidic pH, low saline, Class 2–3 of Water Quality and mesotrophic.

A simple design method for multiple tuned mass dampers in reduction of excessive vibrations of high-speed railway bridges; [Yüksek hızlı demiryolu köprülerinde aşırı titreşimlerin azaltılmasında paralel bağlı ayarlı kütle sönümleyiciler için basit bir tasarım yöntemi]

    Kahya, Volkan; Araz, Onur

In this study, a simple method is proposed to obtain the optimum design parameters of vibration absorbers consisting of several tuned mass damper units connected each other in parallel. The method is essentially the extension of the formulas proposed by Den Hartog for single degree-of-freedom tuned mass dampers to multiple tuned mass dampers. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, an application to high-speed rail bridges are made. The bridge is modeled as a simple Euler-Bernoulli beam, and the train is modeled as a series of moving loads. The equations of motion are solved numerically by the Newmark method. The results of the study showed that multiple tuned mass dampers designed by the proposed method show good performance in reducing the resonance vibrations in high-speed rail bridges.

AN OVERVIEW TO THE DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF THE INVERTED T TYPE CANTILEVER RETAINING WALL TAKING INTO ACCOUNT SOIL STRUCTURE INTERACTION PHENOMENON

    Cakir, Tufan; Ozturk, Kasif Furkan

The dynamic response of the cantilever retaining walls is affected by many factors such as the geometry of the wall, the earthquake frequency content, the wall flexibility, the backfill characteristics, and the soil structure interaction. Therefore, it may not be possible to analyse all aspects of the dynamic response of the cantilever retaining walls in spite of their simplicity. It is also well known that some unfavourable effects on the behaviour of the walls may impair the balance of the wall. In this context, the study aims to investigate the dynamic response of the T type cantilever retaining wall considering soil structure interaction. In line with this purpose, the soil structure interaction system is produced with a three dimensional finite element model. The seismic analyses are performed in time domain using C-OLC360 component of 1983 Coalinga earthquake, and four different foundation soil systems are used in these analyses. The elasto-plastic behaviour of the backfill and the foundation soil are represented with Drucker-Prager material model. In order to reflect the material damping of the system, Rayleigh damping is utilized considering mass and stiffness proportional dampings. In addition, the viscous boundary dashpot elements which consider the criteria of Lysmer and Kuhlemeyer for wave propagation, are placed around the boundaries of the numerical model. The results are examined in terms of both the stresses and displacements. The findings have revealed that the dynamic response of the T shaped cantilever retaining walls is considerably affected by the soil structure interaction.

Soil geochemistry study of the listvenite area of ayvacik (Çanakkale, Turkey)

    Vural, Alaaddin; Aydal, Doğan

Objective of this study is to use soil geochemistry surveys using statistical methods for the exploration of possibly gold mineralization related to Alakeçi listvenite area (Bayramiç, Çanakkale, Turkey). In the scope of soil geochemistry, about 350 soil samples were analyzed and evaluated for nine elements including gold. Element concentrations for Cu, Pb, Zn, As, Sb, Mo, Ni, Co and Au (all element except Au in ppm, Au in ppb) were 10-265, 10-90, 15-545, 5-800, 2-60, 4-8, 10-6300, 15-1255 and 40-300 respectively. The gold concentrations were comparatively detected in low value than important ore deposit and exhibited no correlation with other elements (except Mo). However, positive correlation was observed between Cu and Zn; Sb and As; Mo with As and Sb; Au and Mo; Ni and Co. In literature, Cu, Zn, As, Sb and Mo were widely used as pathfinder elements for exploration of gold mineralization. So, these elements were accepted as pathfinders in this study and their distribution maps were prepared. The element distribution maps for pathfinder elements and gold displayed remarkable zoning in the central to southeast site of the area connected with tectonic lines and lithological borders. So, in conclusion, this part in the area needs to be investigated in detailed with geophysics and drilling methods for blind gold mineralization.

An EEG-based stereoscopic research of the PSD differences in pre and post 2D&3D movies watching

Manshouri, Negin; Maleki, Masoud; Kayikcioglu, Temel

Despite knowing the reality of three-dimensional (3D) technology in the form of eye fatigue, this technology continues to be retained by people (especially the young community). To check the influences of the human brain's power spectrum density (PSD) pre and post a 2D and 3D movie watching, a five-member test group was arranged. In this study, electroencephalogram (EEG) was used as a neuroimaging method. EEG recordings of five individuals were taken both before and after watching 2D and 3D movies. The main framework of this study was to analyze the effects of power spectrum density (PSD) of the human brain by testing all EEG frequency bands before and after 2D and 3D movie watching, also to determine effective brain lobes, and consequently, EEG channels. After 2D/3D EEG recording, this record was divided into three stages for analysis. These stages consisted of Relax, Watching, and Rest. This benchmarking analysis included I) before and after watching the 2D movie (R2b and R2a), II) before and after watching the 3D movie (R3b and R3a), and III) after watching the 2D/3D movie (R2a and R3a). In the Relax and Rest stages, the 2D/3D EEG power differences in all channels of brain regions for the five EEG bands, including delta (δ), theta (θ), alpha (α), beta (β), and gamma (γ), were analyzed and compared. The PSD based on short-time Fourier transform (STFT) was used to select the dominant bands in this study. Feature extraction was performed on the preprocessed EEG signals using STFT and discrete wavelet transform (DWT). In the 2D analysis, δ, θ, α, and β acted as dominant bands, in 3D, δ, θ, and α were dominant bands, and in 2D/3D, δ and α were selected as meaningful and dominant bands. Partial least-squares regression (PLSR) and support vector machine (SVM) classification algorithms were considered in order to classify the obtained R2a and R3a EEG signals. After the dominant band selection, the correct choice of effective channel combinations in these bands resulted in the percentage of high success of classifiers for Stage III. Taking into account the optimum number of channels, the best percentage of classification accuracy for the average of PLSR and SVM classification results by considering the best channels of SVM and DWT feature extraction method is 91.83% and 80.73% respectively.

Solar irradiation on the rear surface of bifacial solar modules: a modeling approach

Durusoy, Beyza; Ozden, Talat; Akinoglu, Bulent G.

The transition in the energy sector has started with the growing population leading to the growing energy demands. The use of photovoltaic (PV) technologies has become a crucial way to meet energy demand. There are many ongoing studies for increasing the efficiency of commercial PV modules. One way to increase the energy yield of the PV modules is to use bifacial solar panels by capturing the rear side illumination as well. One of the challenges for estimating the bifacial module performances is to calculate the solar irradiation impinging on the rear side. Many models presented up to now require high computational power, and they are challenging to implement real-life conditions. In this paper, a simple physical modeling approach is presented to calculate the rear side solar irradiation incident on the bifacial modules. For the rear side irradiance estimation, the maximum difference between the measured and calculated rear side irradiance value is approximately 10 W/m2. The model does not require high computational skills since it is neither focused on the view factor nor ray tracing methodologies but instead uses solar geometry. The yield of the module is also modeled, calculated, and compared with the measurements.

In this study, the behavior of the logistic difference model is investigated under random conditions using discrete probability distributions. The logistic difference model consists of parameters that depend on the population models to be used. For the study of random difference equation population models, the parameters are treated as random variables which constitutes the basis of the study. Random models were created using Uniform, Bernouilli, Binom, Negative Binomial (or Pascal), Geometric, Hypergeometric, Poisson distributions and their numerical characteristics are obtained through their simulations. Then, the results showing random numerical characteristics such as expected value, variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation and confidence intervals were obtained with MATLAB package program. Reading comprehension, Mathematics self-efficacy perception, and Mathematics attitude as correlates of students’ non-routine Mathematics problem-solving skills in Turkey

Öztürk, Mesut; Akkan, Yaşar; Kaplan, Abdullah

Literature that investigates the factors affecting problem-solving evaluates the cognitive and affective components, such as reading comprehension, metacognition, Mathematics anxiety, Mathematics attitude and Mathematics self-efficacy. Recently, studies have shown that Mathematics attitude and Mathematics self-efficacy as affective factors, and reading comprehension as a cognitive factor could play a crucial role in the problem-solving of middle school students. This study investigated the influence of reading comprehension skill, Mathematics self-efficacy perception and Mathematics attitude on non-routine Mathematics problem-solving skills. It is hypothesized that non-routine problem-solving skills are related to reading comprehension skills, Mathematics self-efficacy perception and Mathematics attitudes. To achieve this aim, a reading comprehension skill test, a Mathematics self-efficacy perception scale, a Mathematics attitude scale and a non-routine problem-solving skill test were applied. The instruments were completed by 362 middle school students. A correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship of variables on non-routine problem-solving skills, and the predictive effects of the predictor variables on non-routine Mathematics problem-solving skills were examined by hierarchical regression analysis. The analysis also showed that for middle-school students’ non-routine Mathematics problem-solving skills, all related factors–reading comprehension, Mathematics self-efficacy perception and Mathematics attitude were significant. Reading comprehension skills and Mathematics self-efficacy perception significantly predicted problem-solving skills, and both predictors explained a total of 22% of the total variance.

Some Quality Criteria of Valerian (Valeriana dioscoridis Sm.) Growing in Different Environments

Uçar, Esra; Ataş, Mehmet; Çilesiz, Yeter; Çinbilgel, İlker; Eruygur, Nuraniye; Oral, İrem Zeynep; Karaköy, Tolga

Valerian (Valeriana dioscoridis Sm.) is a perennial herb of the Caprifoliaceae family. The genus Valeriana L. is represented by 14 species (15 taxa) in Turkey. This plant contains flavone glycosides, iridoids and lignans. Among these components, the medically important active ingredient is valerianic acid. Essential oils from valerian roots and rhizomes are used for the treatment of various diseases, including insomnia, mental illness, anxiety, menstrual cramps and physical stress conditions. In this study, evaluations were made of the root and rhizome of valerian plants grown in a natural environment and in greenhouse condition. The macro and micro nutrient contents of the powdered plant samples, and the antioxidant and antimicrobial activity values of the extracts were reported. Except for some macro and micro elements, it was determined that antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of plants cultivated and grown in nature were not different. The major components of both the natural and cultivated forms were determined to be 9-Borabicyclo [3.3.1] nonane, 9-[3-(dimethylamino) propyl]- (17.55% and 22.65%, respectively). The heavy metales such as Fe (415.21±47.8 mg/kg), Cu (50.9±0.2 mg/kg) and Mn (274.6±9.5 mg/kg), were obtained above limit values in grown plants of natural environment conditions.

Historical aurora borealis catalog for Anatolia and Constantinople (hABcAC) during the Eastern Roman Empire period: Implications for past solar activity

    Maden, Nafiz

Herein, Anatolian aurorae are reviewed based on the existing catalogs to establish a relationship between the aurora observations and past solar activity during the Medieval period. For this purpose, historical aurora catalogs for Constantinople and Anatolia are compiled based on the existing catalogs and compared with those in the Middle East region. The available catalogs in the literature are mostly related to the records observed in Europe, Japan, China, Russia, and the Middle East. There is no study dealing only with the historical aurora observations recorded in Anatolia and Constantinople. The data of the catalog show that there is a considerable relationship between the aurora activity and past strong solar activity. High auroral activity around the extreme solar particle storm in 774/775 and the Medieval grand maximum in the 1100s in Anatolia and the Middle East is quite consistent with the past solar variability reported in other scientific literature.

Effect of cereals milling on the contents of phytic acid and digestibility of minerals and protein

Ertop, Muge Hendek; Bektas, Muberra; Atasoy, Rabia

Introduction. The aim of the study was to the examination of effects of the milling process which were applied differently to cereals for commercially flour production, on the phytic acid, microelement, and in-vitro digestibility. Materials and methods. The nutritional consequences of the milling processes of the cereals (wheat, barley, rye, oat, paddy) were evaluated by examining protein, ash, phytic acid, mineral contents, and protein/mineral digestibility rates. Mineral contents were measured by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES), protein content by Kjeldahl method, and mineral digestibility and phytic acid were determined by in-vitro assays. Results and discussion. The dehulling/debranning process increased the protein digestibility rate over to 65% and decreased phytic acid content significantly (p0.05) of the cereal grains except for rye. The mineral digestibility raised for all grain samples, but it was evaluated statistically insignificant (p0.05). The rice flour was the sample that had the lowest phytic acid content (921.87 mg/100g) and the highest mineral digestibility rate (58.35%). Although the contents of total ash and some of the minerals (Na, Ca, K, Mg, Zn, Fe, Ba, and P) decreased in flours especially in wheat and paddy, the rate of some minerals (Na, Mg, Zn, Fe, and Al) increased due to their distribution and localization in the grain layers, especially in rye and oat. The result of the study has shown that the level of the minerals changed depending on the bran/hull content of the grains, and the milling process was more effective on phytic acid content and on protein digestibility than on the mineral digestibility. While the phytic acid content was located on the outer layer of the grain, it was decreased in the kernel. Conclusions. Although the phytic acid content which affects the digestibility of the cereals were reduced by the milling process, the combination of different treatments such as soaking, fermentation could be suggested for improving the nutritional quality of the cereal.

Firstly, the Standard of Living (SoL) index is determined using principal components analysis through the Household Budget Survey data for the year 2014. The cost of disability is estimated using ordered logit method by dividing the index into three income groups such as low, middle and high. As a result of the analysis, it is estimated that households with disabilities need additional financial support of at least 9.1% of household income in order to reach the same standard of living as those without disabled individuals. In addition, two different levels of disability, which are working life disability and daily life disability, are considered in estimating the cost of disability. While the cost caused by individuals’ disabilities in working life is 14.6% of their household's income, the ratio is 9.1% for the individuals’ disabilities in daily life.
