Study Objectives: This study aimed to determine whether the Kinesio tape (KT) application through reverse taping on the quadriceps (Q) and hamstring (H) muscles have any effect on anaerobic power (AP). Methods: Sixteen healthy males were included in the study voluntarily. Muscle facilitation and muscle inhibition techniques were performed on the Q and H muscles of both the right and left sides by applying KT in the reverse direction, and AP parameters were measured using a Wingate ergometer. In trial 1 (Baseline), KT was not applied to the participants. In trial 2 (KT), the muscle facilitation technique was applied on the vastus medialis muscle in the Q of both legs, and the muscle inhibition technique was applied on the biceps femoris and semimembranosus muscles in the H, and AP performances of the participants were taken. The SPSS 22.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Paired sample t-test was used to analyze the differences between trials. Results: KT gave higher values than Baseline with regards to peak power, relative peak power, average power, and relative average power (p < 0.05). In addition, as a result of the KT application, there were minor improvements in minimum power, relative minimum peak power, power drop, and peak power %. However, these differences were not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Conclusions: It was observed that KT applied in the reverse direction on the Q and H muscle groups had a positive effect on AP. It was considered that this effect associated with the reverse KT application stemmed from the different tensions that decreased the neuronal threshold, which in turn ensured faster and easier stimulation of motor units and increased the muscle reflex, leading to a positive effect on AP.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2021Scopus SJRQ4Performance evaluation of beekeeping farms: A case study from Gümüşhane, Turkey
Dogan, Nilgun; Adanacioglu, Hakan
The main purpose of this study is to determine the economic performance of the beekeeping farms. For this purpose, a survey was done in Kelkit County, in northeastern Turkey. The performances of the beekeeping farms were evaluated by cost, profitability and efficiency analysis. The cost of a unit of honey was US$3.16 and the average price paid to the beekeepers was US$6.78. The absolute and relative profits were calculated as US$3.62 and US$2.14, respectively. The efficiency of the beekeeping farms was measured using Data Envelopment Analysis. The results of output- and input-oriented constant return-to-scale (CRS) analysis indicated an average efficiency value of 59.34%. The output- and input-oriented variable return-to-scale (VRS) analysis showed average efficiencies of 75.42% and 78.95%, respectively. The efficiency of the beekeeping farms and the beekeeping experience were positively correlated. Both the output- and input-oriented VRS analysis showed that a significant part of the beekeeping farms would approach full effectiveness with a potential improvement of at least 10% both in gross production value, number of hives and variable costs. Improvement suggestions for outputs and inputs are directed towards reduction of all variables except gross production value. Copyright 2021 Zoological Society of Pakistan.

- MakaleYalnız künye2021Scopus SJRQ2Analysis of Mining Lost Time Incident Duration Influencing Factors Through Machine Learning
Kahraman, Muhammet Mustafa
Despite technological advancements and organizational adjustments, lost time accidents are major issues in occupational safety. However, there is very limited work that focuses on variables influencing days lost as a result of occupational accidents. In this study, decision tree and artificial neural network methods were used as machine learning techniques to investigate the impact of factors on accident lost day duration. Degree of injury, worker age, and worker activity were found to be the top three variables impacting loss of time from work. It was also identified that the mining method, location, and nature of injury had a moderate influence on duration lost due to occupational accidents. However, worker experience and ore type did not have any significant impact on the duration, which is an unexpected result. These results confirmed that some accident factors that might have a large influence on the number of mine accidents can be less critical when it comes to accident lost day duration.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2021Scopus SJRQ3Predicting stock prices using machine learning methods and deep learning algorithms: The sample of the istanbul stock exchange
Demirel, Ugur; Cam, Handan; Unlu, Ramazan
Stock market prediction in financial and commodity markets is a major challenge for speculators, investors, and companies but also profitable with an accurate prediction. Thus, obtaining accurate prediction results becomes extremely important especially while the stock market is essentially volatile, nonlinear, complicated, adaptive, nonparametric and unpredictable in nature. This study aims to forecast the opening and closing stock prices of 42 firms listed in Istanbul Stock Exchange National 100 Index (ISE-100) using well-known machine learning methods, Multilayer Perceptrons (MLP) and Support Vector Machines (SVM) models and deep learning algorithm, Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) by comparing their forecasting performances. The analysis includes 9 years of data from 01.01.2010 to 01.01.2019. For each firm 2249 data for the opening and 2249 for the closing stock prices were established as daily data sets. Forecasting performance of these methods was evaluated by applying different criteria for each model: root mean squared error (RMSE), mean squared error (MSE) and R-squared (R2). The results of this study show that MLP and LSTM models become advantageous in estimating the opening and closing stock prices comparing to SVM model.

İncele - MakaleYalnız künye2021Scopus SJRQ1Nature of the Early Cretaceous lamprophyre and high-Nb basaltic dykes, NE Turkey: Constraints on their linkage to subduction initiation of Neotethyan oceanic lithosphere
Karsli, Orhan; İlhan, Mehdi; Kandemir, Raif; Dokuz, Abdurrahman; Aydin, Faruk; Uysal, İbrahim; Duygu, Levent
Late Mesozoic evolution of the Neotethys Ocean is critical and still remains unclear along the entire Sakarya Zone (SZ), Turkey, because previous interpretations of the Middle to Late Jurassic rifting of the SZ have not been consensually accepted. We identified, for the first time, the Early Cretaceous dykes intruded into the Late Jurassic and Late Carboniferous bodies in the Çamlıkaya (Erzurum) area in the SZ. Here, we present a data set of new field observations, 40Ar/39Ar geochronology, whole-rock geochemical and Sr–Nd isotopes to find out the tectonic setting of previously undated basic to intermediate igneous rocks. 40Ar/39Ar technique on the groundmass separations yielded the plateau ages of 128.78 ± 1.02 to 122.89 ± 0.82 Ma. The investigated dykes are compositionally divided into two sub-groups: calc-alkaline lamprophyres (CAL) and high-Nb alkaline basalts (HNB). They show enrichment in large ion lithophile elements (LILE: e.g., Rb, Ba, K) and depletion in high field strength elements (HFSE: Nb and Ti) as well as moderate fractionation of light rare earth elements relative to heavy rare earth elements. The HNB have high Mg# (47–66), and relatively unradiogenic Sr [87Sr/86Sr(t) = 0.70385 to 0.70510] and Nd [εNd(t) = +0.5 to +5.3] isotopic composition, whereas the CAL possess moderate to high Mg# (32–72), and relatively high Sr [87Sr/86Sr(t) = 0.70586 to 0.71379] and Nd [εNd(t) = +1.5 to −9.9] isotopic composition. Early Cretaceous high-angle subduction triggered upwelling of the asthenosphere at 126 Ma, which likely generated a heat anomaly. This anomaly has probably induced melting of the oceanic slab and the metasomatized mantle to form the CAL and HNB. The HNB were generated by low degrees of melting of mantle domain that was previously reacted by oceanic slab-related adakitic melts at the depths of the garnet stability field (≥70 km). However, the CAL were probably formed at shallower mantle levels within the garnet-amphibole field by a relatively higher degree of melting of the mantle, also modified by subducted slab sediments. A new field, age, and petrochemical data from the Early Cretaceous dykes, combined with the presence of Aptian deep-water sediments to the north and the Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous platform carbonates deposited in the passive margin setting along the entire SZ, imply the initiation of active-margin magmatism in the SZ. We suggest that the coexistence of the Early Cretaceous CAL and HNB points to the formation of an Andean-type active margin above a north-dipping Neotethyan oceanic slab. Their emplacement ages are associated with the inception of the magmatic arc structure and refer to a significant geodynamic turnover from passive-margin to active-margin tectonics along the SZ.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2021Scopus SJRQ1A data-driven multi-regime approach for predicting energy consumption
Kahraman, Abdulgani; Kantardzic, Mehmed; Kahraman, Mustafa; Kotan, Muhammed
There has been increasing interest in reducing carbon footprints globally in recent years. Hence increasing share of green energy and energy efficiency are promoted by governments. There-fore, optimizing energy consumption is becoming more critical for people, companies, industries, and the environment. Predicting energy consumption more precisely means that future energy management planning can be more effective. To date, most research papers have focused on predicting residential building energy consumption; however, a large portion of the energy is consumed by industrial machines. Prediction of energy consumption of large industrial machines in real time is challenging due to concept drift, in which prediction performance deteriorates over time. In this research, a novel data-driven method multi-regime approach (MRA) was developed to better predict the energy consumption for industrial machines. Whereas most papers have focused on finding an excellent prediction model that contradicts the no-free-lunch theorem, this study concentrated on adding potential concept drift points into the prediction process. A real-world dataset was collected from a semi-autonomous grinding (SAG) mill used as a data source, and a deep neural network was utilized as a prediction model for the MRA method. The results proved that the MRA method enables the detection of multi-regimes over time and provides a highly accurate prediction performance, thanks to the dynamic model approach.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2021Investigation of the effect of urbanization on land surface temperature example of Bursa
Yamak, Beyzanur; Yagci, Zekeriya; Bilgilioglu, Burhan Baha; Comert, Resul
Today, industrialization and urbanization in large cities cause an increase in the surfaces covered with man-made objects such as concrete and asphalt. The expansion of urban areas and increase in the using materials with high heat storage properties, directly affect the Land Surface Temperature (LST), which shows an increase in the sensible temperature of the region. LST is directly connected to the natural green vegetation of the land and varies widely in large urban areas, these differences related to the temperature is defined as the ‘urban heat island’. In this study, it was investigated the temporal variation of land surface temperature due to urbanization. Bursa, which is considered as a study area, has shown a rapid population increase since 1990 and a rapid increase in the number of buildings with the impact of urbanization and industrialisation. To determine the effect of this urbanization and industrialisation on land surface temperature, temporal change analysis of the surface temperature in the Bursa was observed with Landsat satellite images of 1988, 1998, 2008 and 2018. From produced maps, it was observed that the amount of green vegetation in urban areas decreased and as a consequence of this decrease, the surface temperature increased in the urban areas.

Rıdvan, Şahin; Fuat, Aslan; Gökçe Dilek, Küçük
Due to the uncertainty of human subjective judgments, it is sometimes very difficult to obtain accurate evaluation information. The technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) is one of the functional methods used to solve the multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) problems. However, the traditional TOPSIS is based only on a distance measure and takes into account neither a similarity measure nor a likelihood measure. Therefore, in this article, we define two new information measures which are called as the projection and divergence and more functional than some other existing ones in the neutrosophic sets. Then we develop an innovative TOPSIS (DPL-TOPSIS) based on the hybrid closeness coefficient which is an optimization of the divergence (distance), projection (similarity), and likelihood (magnitude) closeness coefficients that can also use separately to make the decision in neutrosophic environment. To develop the DPL-TOPSIS, we define three kinds of analogical factors: the distance-like positive and negative divergence decision-making factors, the similarity-like positive and negative projection decision-making factors, and the magnitude-like positive and negative likelihood decision-making factors. In addition, we provide an objective weight determination model to determine expert judgment with the proposed divergence measure. Finally, to demonstrate the functionality of the developed DPL-TOPSIS, an application has been made on selection of the masks used as one of the protection methods in the COVID-19 epidemic, which has recently affected our world, and the results are compared with other existing methods.

Şibil, Rahim; Aras, Egemen; Kankal, Murat
Experimental and numerical studies were carried out to determine the full-scale Oxidation Ditch (OD) hydrodynamics considering various turbulence models. Firstly, the experimental work was carried out in a full-scale plant by Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV) for field-measurements. Secondly, the experimental data was used to validate numerical models by using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software Ansys Fluent. Eight different turbulence models were compared in the numerical study to predict full-scale hydrodynamics. Results showed that standard k-ε, renormalization group k-ε, realizable k-ε turbulence models gave more accurate prediction results with relative errors of 13 %, 17 %, and 18 % respectively, whereas the standard k-ω turbulence model gave the worst prediction results with 39 % relative error. This study also shows that the velocities in the ODs are very low without external force such as air diffusers, rotors, and mixer and there is no homogeneous flow field distribution in the ODs. Moreover, the maximum wastewater velocities occurred at the inlet and outlet.

Şan, Murat; Akpınar, Adem; Bingölbali, Bilal; Kankal, Murat
The present study aims to determine priority areas for installation of wave energy converters (WECs) in a semi-enclosed sea using a multi-criteria, spatial, decision-making analysis based on geographical information systems (GIS). The study also suggests a new methodology for determination of suitable areas for WECs taking into consideration different extreme wave conditions, intra-annual variation of wave conditions, and operational range of wave conditions by the WECs. A case study over a distance of 1140 km along the coast in the southwest Black Sea is presented. In the multi-criteria analysis, areas with environmental, economic, technical and social constraints are excluded. Ocean depth, distance to ports, shore, power line, and sub-station, wave climate, and sea-floor geology are all evaluated for their impact on the system implementation and weighted according to their relevance. Thus, the final suitability index (SI) map is produced and spatial statistical significance of the suitable areas is checked using hotspot analysis. Based on this, Kırklareli coastal area and the area between İğneada Cape and Kıyıköy village are determined as primary priority areas. The sustainability parameters with different weights proposed in this study do not differentiate priority areas but affect the SI scores.

- MakaleYalnız künye2021Scopus SJRQ1A robust data simulation technique to improve early detection performance of a classifier in control chart pattern recognition systems
Ünlü, Ramazan
The quality control process is essential in maintaining the stability of production systems and proactively detecting abnormalities that may result in high mechanical and labor costs. In this study, a new data simulation strategy was devised to improve the early prediction performance (EPP) of an algorithm. Traditional control chart data simulation methods work based on creating abnormal patterns consisting of only abnormal signals. However, a classifier trained with data samples consisting of only abnormal data signals may fail to early detect abnormality in a real-time production line, in which abnormal signals is obscured by volume of normal signals. From this perspective, training a model by imitating real-world cases can improve the performance of an algorithm in terms of early detection of an abnormality. Normal and abnormal patterns were simulated by implementing a new approach called Mix Ratio Data Simulation (MRDS). The proposed methodology MRDS is compared with the customary data simulation method under the predefined scenarios in terms of EPP. The findings indicated that changing the way of simulating dataset increases the EEP of the machine-learning algorithm regardless of abnormality types and parameters.

Kurnaz, Muammer; Yousefkhani, Seyyed Saeed Hosseinian
The Anatolian Peninsula is very richly biodiverse in terms of its location and with new studies, this wealth has gradually increased as new taxa of Anatolian origin are added to the literature. Ablepharusbudaki and A. anatolicus, formerly considered to be subspecies of A. kitaibelli and A. budakirespectively, are spread throughout the southern part of Anatolia. Although recent phylogenetic andmorphological studies revealed their species status, no information was given about the relation of thespecies with each other in terms of ecological niche. In this study, our primary goal was to discoverwhether the niches of these two taxa were different from each other. Considering the analyses madewithin the scope of this study, it has been revealed that both A. anatolicus and A. budaki are differentfrom each other in terms of their ecological niche. However, since these two taxa have very smallcontact regions, an example of parapatric speciation, and their distribution areas cover almostcompletely different geographies, we can say that they have different ecological niche requirements, according to the results of this study. As a result, this study supported the findings in literature and theidea that these taxa are two different species

The intense pressure resulting from population growth and urbanization along with technology has created the need for utilizing natural areas for tourism and recreational purposes and has necessitated the protection, development, and planning of natural resources for people to benefit from. Due to the importance of determining temporal changes within the framework of the protection-use balance, this study examined the changes occurring within the recreational areas of the Uludağ National Park between the years 1970 and 2010 from human use. As a result of the recreational facilities offered to visitors, an average of 550 000 people benefits annually from the area, which was designated as a national park in 1961. The study included the camping and picnic sites of Sarıalan, Çobankaya, Kirazlıyayla, and Karabelen situated within the park and the ski site of the first development zone. High-resolution satellite images and aerial photographs of the areas at different dates were employed. The temporal changes in the selected areas were analyzed by digital image processing with the help of the geographic information system. Upon examining the impact of the recreational use changes occurring on the land cover, it was revealed that building areas had increased by 15 ha (2.57%), road areas by 21 ha (7.89%), and bare land areas by 67 ha (.53%), while the meadowland areas had decreased by 223 ha (119.37%). The forested areas had increased by 78 ha (48.93%), woodland areas by 79 ha (59.37%) and were not adversely affected, mainly due to the protection status of the park.

This paper investigates the tribological effects of composite oxide coatings grown on ZA-27 surfaces under dry sliding condition. Coating processes were conducted using three different electrolytic solutions through micro-arc oxidation (MAO) method. The base electrolytic solution without any particles as additives was labeled as MAO-Coated, whereas electrolytic solution labeled as Coated-A contained graphite particles and Coated-B contained hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) particles incorporated into base solution. The morphology of each coated samples were analyzed using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The friction and wear tests were conducted using a pin-on-disc tester in order to evaluate the tribological behavior. Results indicated the friction coefficients of both Coated-A and Coated-B samples were lower when compared to that of uncoated ZA-27 alloy. Further comparative studies showed Coated-A samples containing graphite particles resulted in the lowest friction coefficient.

In this study, a modification of the random differential transformation method is given by using Laplace-Padé method. The modification, which has previously been introduced for the deterministic differential transformation method (DTM), is used to obtain improved approximate expected values, variances, and confidence intervals for systems of random differential equations. Comparison of approximate results obtained from the random differential transformation method and the modified method are given to underline the improvement of the approximations. Epidemiological compartmental models of type SIR and SIIR are used to implement the modified method and demonstrate its advantages. Simulations and deterministic counterparts of the models are also investigated to confirm the suitability of the results of the approximations.

Ünlü, Ramazan
Manual quality control may result in delayed detection of a system defect, or none at all, potentially resulting in malfunctions that can lead to disruption of the system, incur extra costs, or complete downtime of the system. To mitigate such issues, more advanced statistics and machine learning-based systems such as SVM, WSVM, etc. are used to automatically detect error signals during the process. However, these methodologies are not developed for sequential dataset such as a classical CCPR dataset. As a result, in this study, we have implemented a preliminary Cost-Oriented Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM), which is designed to learn from a sequential dataset and compare it with SVM and WSVM which are traditional methods utilized in the field. Additionally, we compared the performance of methods in terms of early detection of an abnormal pattern. Based on the findings, the Cost-Oriented LSTM method outperforms SVM and WSVM in the majority of abnormal patterns in terms of both classification and early detection performance. Global accuracy score which is the average of accuracy rates in all combination of abnormal parameters and window lengths shows that LSTM gives a better accuracy score than SVM and WSVM in all seven abnormal patterns detection.
