Uzun, Sevda; Emirza, Elif Güzide; Gülırmak Güler, Kübra

Background: Nurses are among the most interactive professionals in society, providing both care and psychosocial and psychotherapeutic interventions for individuals with mental health issues. Nurse-centred approaches have demonstrated a positive impact on addressing mental health issues. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of psychosocial and psychotherapeutic interventions administered by nurses in managing mental health issues. Methods: For this meta-analysis, data were gathered through a comprehensive search of databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCOhost, Google Scholar and the YÖK Thesis Center, with no restrictions on publication year. Following the review process, a total of 25 studies were included in the analysis. The PRISMA checklist was employed to guide our study. Results: The meta-analysis revealed that interventions implemented by nurses in the context of mental health were effective. Specifically, the psychosocial and psychotherapeutic interventions significantly reduced depression levels in individuals (SMD: −0.918, 95% CI: −1.350 to −0.486; Z = −4.161; p < 0.05) and anxiety levels (SMD: −0.61, 95% CI: −1.190 to −0.029; Z = −2.59; p < 0.05). Additionally, these interventions were associated with an improvement in individuals' quality of life (SMD: 0.673, 95% CI: 0.303–1.403; Z = 3.56; p < 0.05). Conclusion: Nurses can play a pivotal role in addressing mental health issues, effectively contributing to the reduction of anxiety and depression levels while enhancing the overall quality of life for individuals.

Analyzing the October 16, 2024 MW 5.9 Kale (Malatya) earthquake in relation to the February 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake sequence and local tectonic dynamics

Senkaya, Mustafa; Alkan, Hamdi; Öztürk, Serkan; Büyüksaraç, Aydın

The 6 February 2023 Mw 7.7–7.6 Kahramanmaraş earthquake sequence has significantly impacted the East Anatolian Fault zone, including the city of Malatya and its immediate surroundings. In addition to the aftershocks of February 2023, the Mw 5.9 Kale earthquake that occurred on October 16, 2024, further underscores the ongoing seismic activity in the region. This study analyzes the distribution of b-values derived from a comprehensive dataset comprising 14,549 earthquakes and the Coulomb stress variations associated with the aftershocks of the February 2023 sequence and the Kale earthquake. The primary objective of this analysis is to enhance the understanding of the tectonic setting that contributed to the occurrence of the Kale earthquake. The findings indicate that the low b-values and stress transfer through the Pütürge segment toward the unnamed fault near Kale are significant contributing factors to the occurrence of the Kale earthquake. Additionally, positive stress variations from Doğanşehir to Malatya’s city center suggest a potential fault oriented toward the city center that may increase the current earthquake hazard. Furthermore, the distribution of seismic events around Malatya suggests a possible barrier supported by previous magnetic data analysis between Malatya and Kale. Lastly, the observed stress variations for the Kale earthquake indicate the likelihood of upcoming seismic events in both the northeast and southwest directions of the Kale.

Future Circular Collider Feasibility Study Report: Volume 1 Physics, Experiments, Detectors

    Benedikt, M.; Zimmermann, F.; Auchmann, B.; Bartmann, W.; Burnet, J. P.; Carli, C.; Chancé, A.; Craievich, P.; Giovannozzi, M.; Grojean, C.

Volume 1 of the FCC Feasibility Report presents an overview of the physics case, experimental programme, and detector concepts for the Future Circular Collider (FCC). This volume outlines how FCC would address some of the most profound open questions in particle physics, from precision studies of the Higgs and EW bosons and of the top quark, to the exploration of physics beyond the Standard Model. The report reviews the experimental opportunities offered by the staged implementation of FCC, beginning with an electron-positron collider (FCC-ee), operating at several centre-of-mass energies, followed by a hadron collider (FCC-hh). Benchmark examples are given of the expected physics performance, in terms of precision and sensitivity to new phenomena, of each collider stage. Detector requirements and conceptual designs for FCC-ee experiments are discussed, as are the specific demands that the physics programme imposes on the accelerator in the domains of the calibration of the collision energy, and the interface region between the accelerator and the detector. The report also highlights advances in detector, software and computing technologies, as well as the theoretical tools/reconstruction techniques that will enable the precision measurements and discovery potential of the FCC experimental programme. The content and structure of this report are guided by the scope and priorities defined in the mandate of the FCC Feasibility Study. It is therefore not intended to serve as an exhaustive review of the full physics potential of FCC. Several topics, already covered in earlier reports such as the FCC CDR, are not reiterated here or are addressed only briefly, in alignment with the study's focus. This volume reflects the outcome of a global collaborative effort involving hundreds of scientists and institutions, aided by a dedicated community-building coordination, and provides a targeted assessment of the scientific opportunities and experimental foundations of the FCC programme.

Future Circular Collider Feasibility Study Report

    Benedikt, M.; Zimmermann, F.; Auchmann, B.; Bartmann, W.; Burnet, J. P.; Carli, C.; Chancé, A.; Craievich, P.; Giovannozzi, M.; Grojean, C.

In response to the 2020 Update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics, the Future Circular Collider (FCC) Feasibility Study was launched as an international collaboration hosted by CERN. This report describes the FCC integrated programme, which consists of two stages: an electron-positron collider (FCC-ee) in the first phase, serving as a high-luminosity Higgs, top, and electroweak factory; followed by a proton-proton collider (FCC-hh) at the energy frontier in the second phase. The FCC-ee is designed to operate at four key centre-of-mass energies: the Z pole, the WW pair production threshold, the ZH production peak, and the top/anti-top production threshold-each delivering the highest possible luminosities to four experiments. Over 15 years of operation, FCC-ee will produce more than 6 trillion Z bosons, 200 million WW pairs, nearly 3 million Higgs bosons, and 2 million top anti-top pairs. Precise energy calibration at the Z pole and WW threshold will be achieved through frequent resonant depolarisation of pilot bunches. The sequence of operation modes between the Z, WW, and ZH substages remains flexible. The FCC-hh will operate at a centre-of-mass energy of approximately 85 TeV-nearly an order of magnitude higher than the LHC-and is designed to deliver 5 to 10 times the integrated luminosity of the upcoming High-Luminosity LHC. Its mass reach for direct discovery extends to several tens of TeV. In addition to proton-proton collisions, the FCC-hh is capable of supporting ion-ion, ion-proton, and lepton-hadron collision modes. This second volume of the Feasibility Study Report presents the complete design of the FCC-ee collider, its operation and staging strategy, the full-energy booster and injector complex, required accelerator technologies, safety concepts, and technical infrastructure. It also includes the design of the FCC-hh hadron collider, development of high-field magnets, hadron injector options, and key technical systems for FCC-hh.

Future Circular Collider Feasibility Study Report Volume 3 Civil Engineering, Implementation and Sustainability

    Benedikt, M.; Zimmermann, F.; Auchmann, B.; Bartmann, W.; Burnet, J. P.; Carli, C.; Chancé, A.; Craievich, P.; Giovannozzi, M.; Grojean, C.

Volume 3 of the FCC Feasibility Report presents studies related to civil engineering, the development of a project implementation scenario, and environmental and sustainability aspects. The report details the iterative improvements made to the civil engineering concepts since 2018, taking into account subsurface conditions, accelerator and experiment requirements, and territorial considerations. It outlines a technically feasible and economically viable civil engineering configuration that serves as the baseline for detailed subsurface investigations, construction design, cost estimation, and project implementation planning. Additionally, the report highlights ongoing subsurface investigations in key areas to support the development of an improved 3D subsurface model of the region. The report describes the development of the project scenario based on the 'avoid-reduce-compensate' iterative optimisation approach. The reference scenario balances optimal physics performance with territorial compatibility, implementation risks, and costs. Environmental field investigations covering almost 600 hectares of terrain-including numerous urban, economic, social, and technical aspects-confirmed the project's technical feasibility and contributed to the preparation of essential input documents for the formal project authorisation phase. The summary also highlights the initiation of public dialogue as part of the authorisation process. The results of a comprehensive socio-economic impact assessment, which included significant environmental effects, are presented. Even under the most conservative and stringent conditions, a positive benefit-cost ratio for the FCC-ee is obtained. Finally, the report provides a summary of the studies conducted to document the current state of the environment.

Real-world comparison of doxorubicin-ifosfamide versus gemcitabine-docetaxel regimens in metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma: a multicenter retrospective study

Tunbekici, Salih; Sahin, Gokhan; Yuksel, Haydar Cagatay; Acar, Caner; Akin, Imge; Aslanhan, Hasan; Isci, Mert; Kabaoglu, Ceren; Bal, Hamit; Sakin, Abdullah

BackgroundUterine leiomyosarcoma is a rare and aggressive malignancy with limited responsiveness to standard therapies. We conducted a real-world, multicenter study to compare the clinical efficacy and safety of two commonly used first-line chemotherapy regimens-doxorubicin-ifosfamide and gemcitabine-docetaxel-in patients with metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma.MethodsThis retrospective cohort included 271 patients with advanced or metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma treated between 2010 and 2023 across 30 centers in Turkey. Patients received either doxorubicin-ifosfamide (n = 142) or gemcitabine-docetaxel (n = 129) as first-line therapy. The primary endpoint was overall survival; secondary endpoints included progression-free survival, objective response rate, disease control rate, and safety. Adverse events were graded according to the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events version 5.0, while survival outcomes were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and further analyzed with Cox proportional hazards models.ResultsMedian overall survival was 19.7 months with doxorubicin-ifosfamide and 20.2 months with gemcitabine-docetaxel (P = .26). Median progression-free survival was 5.5 months with doxorubicin-ifosfamide and 7.0 months with gemcitabine-docetaxel (P = .62). The objective response rate was numerically higher with gemcitabine-docetaxel (35% vs. 26%), although not statistically significant (P = .11). Grade 3-4 neutropenia (16% vs. 12%) and febrile neutropenia (7% vs. 6%) were more frequent with doxorubicin-ifosfamide.ConclusionsIn this largest-to-date real-world cohort of metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma, doxorubicin-ifosfamide and gemcitabine-docetaxel demonstrated comparable survival outcomes. Gemcitabine-docetaxel, however, was associated with a more favorable hematologic safety profile. These findings support the clinical utility of both regimens while underscoring the need for prospective, biomarker-driven studies to refine treatment selection and improve personalization in this rare malignancy.

Efficacy of Second-Line Treatments After Atezolizumab and Bevacizumab in Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Related Prognostic Factors: A Multicenter Study by the Turkish Oncology Group (TOG)

Majidova, Nargiz; Yaslikaya, Sendag; Mildanoglu, Maral Martin; Coskun, Alper; Uzundal, Duygu Ercan; Sahin, Taha Koray; Akyildiz, Arif; Akbas, Sinem; Camanli, Ufuk; Sahin, Elif

Background/Aims: The treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which accounts for 90% of all liver cancers, is highly varied. The use of second-line treatments following progression on first-line atezolizumab and bevacizumab (Atez/Bev) for advanced HCC remains controversial. The aim of this study was to analyze the real-world clinical results of second-line treatments in progression after Atez/Bev and to determine the factors affecting prognosis. Materials and Methods: Fifty-eight patients treated with second-line sorafenib, regorafenib, and cabozantinib for progression after first-line Atez/Bev for advanced/metastatic HCC from 20 centers in T & uuml;rkiye between October 2020 and June 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. Responses were evaluated by Response criteria, specifically Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST v1.1) criteria. Median overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were computed with the Kaplan-Meier method. The Cox regression model was utilized to analyze multivariate analyses. Results: About 82.8% of the patients were male and the median age of the whole group was 62 (range, 18-78) years. All patients progressed after first-line Atez/Bev and were given second-line treatment. The most commonly used second-line treatment option was sorafenib (70.7%), followed by regorafenib (12.1%) and cabozantinib (10.3%). Both median PFS (4.1 months) and median OS (7.8 months) were longer in patients treated with sorafenib compared to other treatments. In univariate analyses, Child-Pugh score B, high alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels (>200 ng/mL), extrahepatic spread, and Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI) < 47.6 substantially raised the risk of overall mortality. Multivariate analysis showed that extrahepatic spread (HR (Hazard ratio): 0.41, P = .012), PNI level (HR: 0.24, P = .005), and AFP level (HR:1.97, P = .049) were independent predictors of OS. Conclusion: Although second-line therapies after Atez/Bev show different degrees of efficacy, survival rates are consistent with the literature. Extrahepatic spread, AFP level, and PNI level are the main prognostic factors. In light of this information, personalized treatment strategies may improve outcomes for this challenging patient group.

Tünbekici, Salih; Yuksel, Haydar cagatay; Acar, Caner; Sahin, Goekhan; Orman, Seval; Majidova, Nargiz; Coskun, Alper; Seyyar, Mustafa; Dilek, Mehmet siddik; Kara, Mahmut

Background/Objectives: In the REGOMA trial, regorafenib demonstrated an overall survival advantage over lomustine, and it has become a recommended treatment for recurrent glioblastoma in guidelines. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of regorafenib as a third-line treatment for patients with recurrent glioblastoma who progressed while taking bevacizumab-based therapy. Methods: This retrospective, multicenter study in Turkey included 65 patients treated between 2021 and 2023 across 19 oncology centers. The main inclusion criteria were histologically confirmed isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-wildtype glioblastoma, progression after second-line bevacizumab-based treatment, and an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status score of <= 2. Patients received regorafenib 160 mg once daily for the first 3 weeks of each 4-week cycle. Results: The median age of the patients was 53 years (18-67 years), with a median progression-free survival of 2.5 months (95% Confidence Interval: 2.23-2.75) and a median overall survival of 4.1 months (95% CI: 3.52-4.68). The median overall survival was improved in patients who received subsequent therapy after regorafenib treatment compared with those who did not (p = 0.022). Progression-free survival was longer in patients with ECOG 0-1 than in those with ECOG 2 (p = 0.042). The safety profile was consistent with that of the REGOMA trial, with no drug-related deaths observed. Conclusions: Regorafenib shows good efficacy and safety as a third-line treatment for recurrent glioblastoma after bevacizumab-based therapy. This study supports the use of regorafenib and emphasizes the need for further randomized studies to validate its role and optimize treatment strategies.

Circulating Extracellular Vesicles as Putative Mediators of Cardiovascular Disease in Paediatric Chronic Kidney Disease

Behrens, Felix; Holle, Johannes; Chen, Chia-Yu; Ginsbach, Laura F.; Krause, Benjamin C.; Bruning, Ulrike; Kriegel, Fabian L.; Kaiser, Toralf; Szijarto, Istvan A.; Anandakumar, Harithaa

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of mortality in chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, the pathogenesis of CVD in CKD remains incompletely understood. Endothelial extracellular vesicles (EC-EVs) have previously been associated with CVD. We hypothesized that CKD alters EV release and cargo, subsequently promoting vascular remodelling. We recruited 94 children with CKD, including patients after kidney transplantation and healthy donors, and performed EV phenotyping and functional EV analyses in the absence of age-related comorbidities. Plasma EC-EVs were increased in haemodialysis patients and decreased after kidney transplantation. Thirty microRNAs were less abundant in total CKD plasma EVs with predicted importance in angiogenesis and smooth muscle cell proliferation. In vitro, CKD plasma EVs induced transcriptomic changes in angiogenesis pathways and functionally impaired angiogenic properties, migration and proliferation in ECs. High shear stress, as generated by arterio-venous fistulas, and uremic toxins were considered as potential drivers of EV release, but only the combination increased EV generation from venous ECs. The resulting EVs recapitulated miRNA changes observed in CKD in vivo. In conclusion, CKD results in the release of EVs with altered miRNA profiles and anti-angiogenic properties, which may mediate vascular pathology in children with CKD. EVs and their miRNA cargo may represent future therapeutic targets to attenuate CVD in CKD.

Pedogenic evidence sheds light on the post-Roman pedo-sedimentological and human history of Tarsus, the Roman capital of CE 60, Cilicia, Mersin, Türkiye

Kapur, Selim; Akça, Erhan; Kadir, Selahattin; Previtali, Franco; Billor, Zeki; Zucca, Claudio; Casati, Enrico; Eren, Muhsin; Karagöz, Alptekin; Nazik, Atike

The ancient city of Tarsus is underlying a sediment of 400 cm where the contemporary Tarsus grew. The diffusely stratified layers of the deposited sediment from the Kydnos (Tarsus) river overlying the Roman Road excavation site located in the heart of the modern city. The sediment is laden with technogenic materials. The profile of the stratigraphic layers represents a Pedocomplex (PDC) and its horizons are the Pedomembers (PDMs). All the PDMs were described and sampled for physical, chemical, mineralogical, micromorphological, and thermoluminescense analyses seeking pedogenic evidences. The origin of PDC materials is a fluvial and/or lagoon environment (archaeologically predicted date, about 60 CE, and they are calcareous, high in available P and some are high in total phosphorus contents). They have been partially modified by human activity in a settlement area, thus bringing some historical evidence suggesting that the site was part of the growing city after its abandonment. Thin sections show a vigorous biological degradation of the organic residues in the PDMs along with occasional evidence of soil-forming processes. The preliminary conclusions were extracted from the results obtained through the newly formed hydroxyapatite (Hap) determined by micromorphology, therefore proposing the new suffix pi for the WRB soil naming system. Primary, high temperature and clay minerals together with TL analyses of the layers, were conducted to reveal the provenance and weathering phases of the horizons. The seeds recovered from an inhabited layer helped to interpret the food and medicinal habits of the local society and the contemporary presence of the lagoon.

Was the Formation of the North Anatolian Fault Influenced by the Aegean Extension?

Uysal, I. Tonguc; Karabacak, Volkan; Aykut, Tunahan; Ring, Uwe; Liu, Entao; Sancar, Taylan; Leonard, Nicole; Tong, Kui; Todd, Andrew J.; Temel, Abidin

The North Anatolian Fault (NAF), one of the most prominent plate boundary continental fault systems on Earth, facilitates the westward movement of the Anatolian microplate into the Aegean region. The temporal and spatial evolution of the NAF is important for understanding the mechanism of escape tectonics during plate interaction in active orogenic regions. The driving force(s) behind the movement of the NAF and the time period over which this occurred remain controversial. Our U-Pb and K-Ar dating of syntectonic minerals shows that a predecessor faulting initiated as early as similar to 40 Ma due to shortening along the Neo-Tethyan suture zone. Fault reactivations occurred at similar to 20 and 10 Ma synchronously in eastern and western Anatolia, suggesting that the NAF already existed by similar to 20 Ma. Our data also show that the westward motion of Anatolia was not only controlled by the Arabia-Eurasia collision in eastern Anatolia, but also by Aegean extension.

Revealing the environmental influences of energy, transport, and pollution taxes on different transportation modes

Artan, Seyfettin; Pata, Ugur Korkut; Hayaloglu, Pinar; Cakir, Mehmet Ali; Recepoglu, Mursit; Cay Cakir, Sumeyra

The need for transportation is increasing with the effect of globalization in the developing economic system. The transportation sector, which is essential for economic development, may pose some threats to a sustainable environment. Although European countries have achieved various successes in reducing carbon emissions, they are struggling to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from transportation. To overcome this difficulty, European countries are using various policy instruments such as environmental taxes. In this context, this study investigated the impact of disaggregated environmental taxes (pollution, energy, and transport), structural change, and institutional quality on transport-related carbon emissions (water, air, and road transport) in 24 European countries over the period 2008-2022. To this end, the study uses the novel half-panel jackknife estimation and the bias-corrected method of moments. The results indicate that there is no long-term relationship between environmental taxes and water transportation-related CO2 emissions. In contrast, structural changes and pollution taxes are effective in reducing road and air transport-related CO2 emissions. These results suggest that European countries should focus on reducing CO2 emissions through effective pollution taxes and encourage carbon taxes instead of energy and transport taxes, thereby supporting the European Green Deal's goal of becoming the first climate-neutral continent.

Compositional variability and alteration dynamics of chromitites under greenschist metamorphism in the Kizildag ophiolite, southern Turkiye

Akmaz, Recep Melih; Uysal, Ibrahim; Su, Ben-Xun; Sen, Ahmet D.; Hu, Wen-Jun; Seitz, Hans-Michael; Mueller, Dirk; Eslami, Alireza

This study presents a complete alteration sequence in chromitites from the Kizildag ophiolite (southern T & uuml;rkiye), documenting three distinct chromite types that record processes related to Neotethyan subduction. Chromitites exhibit predominantly lenticular forms and occasionally banded textures, embedded within mantle peridotites and the mantle-crust transition zone, specifically harzburgite and dunite. Our analysis categorizes chromite grains into three groups: fresh, altered, and porous. Fresh chromites are characterized by high contents of Cr2O3 ranging from 42.69 to 57.08 wt% and Al2O3 from 12.46 to 25.34 wt%. In contrast, altered chromites, typically located along fractures or at the edges of fresh grains, show significant variability in chemical composition, with Cr2O3 content between 43.34 and 63.94 wt% and Al2O3 between 2.91 and 14.84 wt%. Porous chromites, distinguished by their porous structure, present Cr2O3 contents from 44.58 to 52.66 wt% and Al2O3 from 3.00 to 8.38 wt%. Notably, altered and porous chromites demonstrate substantial enrichments in Fe and trace elements such as Mn, Ni, Zn, Co, and Ga, indicating a shift due to metamorphic processes. The observed high Cr# (0.68-0.93) and low Mg# (0.25-0.65) values in rims of the altered and porous chromite further illustrate the metamorphic influence on chromite, with greenschist-facies conditions indicated by the Cr-Al-Fe3+ diagram at temperatures below 450 degrees C. The alteration dynamics reflect a progression that initiates with the olivine matrix and advances through reactions involving fresh chromites. This progression results in mass loss, the formation of chlorite, and the porous structures. Our findings contribute to the understanding of metamorphic alteration processes in chromitites and provide a detailed account of the geochemical trends (such as Fe/Mg exchange and trace element enrichment) that reflect greenschist-facies metamorphism. The evidence of chlorite formation and the prevalence of porous textures highlight the influence of metamorphic fluids over serpentinization, offering a model for chromite alteration in supra-subduction zones. This research elucidates the metamorphic history of chromitites in the Kizildag ophiolite.

Background: Fetuin-A prevents the precipitation of hydroxyapatite in supersaturated solutions of calcium and phosphate; however, its relationship with nephrolithiasis has yet to be clarified. The aim of this study was to investigate the protective and predictive roles of serum and urine fetuin-A levels in nephrolithiasis and their relationships with the composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI). Methods: This study involved 75 adult patients with kidney stone disease and 71 healthy adults without kidney stone disease in the control group. Participants had specific anthropometric measurements taken, and three-day food records were kept. The CDAI was calculated by summing six standard antioxidants, including vitamins A, C, and E, manganese, selenium, and zinc, representing participants' antioxidant profile. In addition to some analyzed serum and urine parameters of the participants, fetuin-A levels were measured using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. Results: In patients with kidney stones, both serum and urine fetuin-A levels (676.3 +/- 160.14 ng/mL; 166.6 +/- 128.13 ng/mL, respectively) were lower than in the control group (1455.6 +/- 420.52 ng/mL; 2267.5 +/- 1536.78 ng/mL, respectively) (p < 0.00001). In contrast, the CDAI was higher in patients with kidney stones compared to those without kidney stones (p < 0.001). Besides, several dietary parameters had significant positive correlations with serum and/or urinary fetuin-A. Conclusions: The present study suggests that serum and urinary fetuin-A levels may serve as protective factors against kidney stones and could potentially be used as predictive markers for the development of nephrolithiasis. Furthermore, our results suggest that the CDAI above a certain level may increase the risk of stone formation and that some dietary parameters may affect the levels of this biomarker in serum and urine.

Crackers are popular bakery products known for their crunchy texture and long shelf life. Typically made from leavened or unleavened dough with wheat flour, oil, water, and additives, crackers have undergone recipe enhancements to improve sensory and nutritional profiles. While many studies explore cracker and biscuit formulations, fruit seed oils remain underexplored. Fruit seeds, often discarded as waste, are rich in essential fatty acids, amino acids, and micronutrients. Oils from seeds such as grape, pomegranate, rosehip, and apricot have gained attention for their health benefits, which presents an opportunity for innovation in bakery products. This study evaluated the potential of incorporating various fruit seed oils (pomegranate, apricot kernel, grape, fig, and rosehip) into cracker formulations. Crackers were assessed for physicochemical properties, antioxidant activity, mineral content, texture, and sensory attributes, with sunflower oil as the control. Results showed that the addition of fruit seed oils significantly influenced cracker properties. Crackers with apricot kernel oil had the highest ash content (2.29 +/- 0.13%) and exhibited a more acidic character, as did those with grape seed oil. Moisture content decreased significantly when rosehip seed oil was used (P < 0.05). Grape seed oil yielded the highest water-holding capacity, while sunflower oil provided the highest oil-holding capacity. Crackers made with rosehip and apricot kernel oils demonstrated improved antioxidant properties. Using fruit seed oils not only enhances nutritional value (e.g. vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and dietary fiber) but also reduces material waste, contributing to sustainability and better resource utilization.

The selection of transport policies by countries is critical both for international relations and for the implementation of effective and sustainable transport practices. Countries consider numerous parameters when deciding on transport policies. This study aims to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) to assist countries in selecting transport policies and to demonstrate its applicability. The primary motivation of the research is to identify transport policies for Russia's Arctic region and to determine the best alternative policy based on expert evaluations. For this purpose, the IF-SIWEC-ARLON (Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets - Simple Weight Calculation - Alternative Ranking Using Two-Step Logarithmic Normalization) hybrid method was developed as a DSS in this study. To implement this hybrid method, a decision model incorporating experts, criteria, and transport policies was first established. The contribution levels of experts to the decision-making process were calculated using IF sets. Next, the criteria weights were determined using the IF-SIWEC approach. Finally, the ranking of transport policies was carried out using the IF-ARLON method. An algorithm representing the application of this hybrid method was developed and applied to a case study focusing on Russia's transport policy selection process of Northern Sea Route (NSR) in the Arctic region. The results supported the successful application of the IF-SIWEC-ARLON hybrid method. Its robustness was tested through sensitivity analysis scenarios, while the consistency of the findings was verified via comparative analyses. The study concluded that the best transport policy for Russia's Arctic region is Improved regulatory control with strategic international partnerships, with the most influential criterion in the decision process identified as State interests, security, and sovereignty..

Background: The effect of inspiratory muscle training on diaphragm muscle thickness (DT) and one repetition maximal (1RM) in professional natural bodybuilders is still unclear. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of inspiratory muscle training on diaphragm muscle thickness and 1RM in professional natural bodybuilders. Methods: The study comprised a total of 22 athletes who participated in bodybuilding competitions. Each athlete had undergone a minimum of 5 years of training, with a minimum weekly commitment of 5 hours. Participants were randomly divided into two groups: inspiratory muscle training (IMT) and control (CON). The CON continued their normal training regime, while the IMT group also performed inspiratory muscle training with a 10% weekly increase by setting the resistance setting of the PowerBreathe (R) Classic device to 40% of the participant's maximum inspiratory pressure (MIP). Prior to and during the 4-week training period, 1RM bench press measurements and diaphragm muscle thickness measurements were obtained. Results: In the comparison of 1RM power values before and after training, it was determined that the IMT group (%: 11.20) had 6.3% more post-activation performance enhancement compared to the CON group (%: 4.9) (p < 0.001). In the study, it was determined that a higher level of significant post-activation performance enhancement was obtained in the IMT group compared to the CON group in the diaphragm muscle thickness inspiratory phase (DT ins) and ekspiratory phase (DT eks) parameters at 20.36% and 19.46%, respectively. Conclusion: In conclusion, we determined that the addition of progressive loading inspiratory muscle training to preparation programmes in natural bodybuilders will improve diaphragm muscle thickness, 1RM physical performance. In particular, it shows that the diaphragm muscle should be considered not only as a muscle that supports respiration, but also as a muscle that contributes to power generation by optimising intra-abdominal pressure.
