Multidimensional Analysis of OECD Countries According to the Prevalence of Mental Disorders and Ranking with the MOORA Method

Boz, Canser; Özdemir, Muhlis; Çalgı, Berna

The aim of this study is to reveal similarities and the differences between Economic Cooperation and Development Organization (OECD) countries, separate them into subgroups and show the graphical positions based on 10 different mental illnesses prevalence. The 10 different mental illnesses are Bipolar disorders, Anxiety disorders, Eating disorders, Autism spectrum disorders, Attentiondeficit/hyperactivity disorders, Conduct disorders, Idiopathic developmental intellectual disability, Other mental disorders and Schizophrenia Depressive disorders. The data were obtained from the Global Health Data Exchange database. Relevant data collected for 36 OECD countries were analyzed by the Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) method. As a result of the MDS analysis, it was seen that the countries were gathered under two groups. Results showed that both Euclidean model based on the prevalence of mental illness differ from the matrix of country Turkey is most similar cases have been identified as Sweden and the UK. When a comparison was made for all countries, it was seen that the two most similar countries were Slovakia and Hungary, and the most different countries were Portugal and Czechia. According to the results of the ranking analysis, when a single ranking was obtained for 10 different disorders, Japan is the country with the lowest prevalence according to the MOORA score and Australia is the highest one.

New Professions in Healthcare as a Result of Emerging Technologies

Önder, Güler; Onder, Emrah; Özdemir, Muhlis

Nowadays, the most important applications and results of developing technologies are seen in the health sector. Cloud computing, big data, Internet of things, augmented reality, virtual reality, wearable technologies, etc. many developing technologies are used in health applications. Countries have entered a race to catch up with the fourth industrial revolution, while countries' health sectors are also trying to adapt to Health 4.0 practices. Countries that are able to adapt their health systems more quickly to health 4.0 applications will be much ahead of the countries that fail to achieve this in the medium and long term. In this context, this academic study examined the most important health professions based on technology and information technology such as telemedicine systems specialist, big data analyst in health, clinical business analyst, augmented/virtual reality supported surgical planner, plastic/reconstructive and aesthetic surgery 3D printer specialist, virtual hospital manager , deep learning specialist, synthetic organ designer, voice assistant designer professions providing epigenetic counseling and health services content will be discussed. In our country, it is useful to increase the academic studies that touch on the intersection of health and technologies.

A new use of the ant system algorithm for the max-mean dispersion problem

    Cura, Tunchan; Özdemir, Muhlis

This study addresses an NP-hard problem known as the max-mean dispersion problem (MaxMeanDP), which belongs to a well-known class of diversity problems. In view of the increasing importance of parallel computing, this study proposes an ant system (AS) approach to the MaxMeanDP in which ants execute the search process in parallel. Moreover, by proposing a rather different use of the pheromone trail and visibility compared to the original AS, a new AS algorithm is introduced that runs in parallel. Our analysis indicates that the new use of the pheromone trail and visibility significantly contributes to the quality of the solution. The results show that the proposed method is effective, efficient and comparable to other approaches.
