Türker, Ustun; Bostanci, Ozgur
The learning styles of students vary both among individuals and across different disciplines they choose to study. In higher education, academic discipline appears to be a key factor influencing students'distinctive learning styles. This study, which aims to determine the dominant learning styles and models of talented pre-service teachers, was designed with the survey model. The study group research consisted of 1019 volunteer pre-service teachers who continued their education in Physical Education and Sports, Music, and Arts & Craft Teaching departments. In the study, the VARK Learning Style Inventory was used as a data collection tool; students were asked to answer questions in a digital environment through Google Forms. According to the research results, kinesthetic style is the dominant learning preference for pre -service teachers in the visual arts and sports sciences, and both kinesthetic and aural styles are the dominant learning preferences for pre-service teachers in music education. Although talented pre-service teachers tend to learn predominantly kinesthetic and aural styles when evaluated, 61.2% of pre-service teachers prefer to learn with a Multiple Learning Model, which covers the entire instructional diversity, rather than sticking to just one learning style.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2024Geochemical and petrological features of Carboniferous granites from the Güneydere (Bayburt) area
Gücer, Mehmet Ali; Delimehmet, Zeynep; Çimen, Okay
Middle-Late Carboniferousgranitic rocks are widely observed in larger outcrops in the Eastern Pontide orogenic belt of the Eastern Sakarya Zone. This tectonic belt is an important part of the Anatolian plate in terms of containing igneous rocks with a wide age and composition range. This study presents new petrochemical-petrological data on Carboniferous granites in the G & uuml;neydere and surrounding area of Bayburt (NE Turkey). The granitic rocks, which include an area of approximately 5 km, represent the pre-Jurassic basement in the study area. Besides, they are unconformably overlain by Early- Middle Jurassic volcano-clastics units and Late Jurassic- Early Cretaceous limestones. They mainly consist ofgranite, granite porphyry and aplite, to a lesser extent granodiorite and quartz monzonite. Rocks have high SiO2 contents (60.43-75.51%) and high K calc-alkali to shoshonitic affinities and have been derived from an I-type source. The granitic rocks are metalumine-peralumine in character and are similar to postcollisional volcanic arc granitoids. Whole-rocks major and trace element trends show that plagioclase, hornblende, biotite, apatite, and Fe-Ti oxide mineral fractionations play an important role in the formation of the rocks. It has been revealed that fractional crystallization and assimilation+magma mixing processes play a role in the development of granites. Also, the saturation temperatures calculated from the whole-rock zircon values reflect lower initial magma temperatures. All results obtained indicate that parental magma of studied granitic rocks have evolved from lower/middle crust- derived melts as a result of partial melting and differentiated and emplaced in the continental magma chamber.

Acar, Emrah; Ozgul, Neryan; Izci, Servet
Purpose The simple right ventricular contraction pressure index (sRVCPI) is a new echocardiographic variable for estimating the right ventricular systolic function. Our aim was to investigate the association between the sRVCPI, the pulmonary embolism severity index (PESI), and mortality rate in acute pulmonary embolism (APE). Methods We included in this study 116 patients diagnosed with APE by pulmonary computed tomography angiography or ventilation/perfusion scintigraphy. They were divided into two groups based on the simplified PESI < or >1. Tricuspid regurgitation velocity and TAPSE were measured and used for sRVCPI calculation. Results Mortality was higher in patients with a higher sRVCPI (P < .001). In receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis using a cut-off level of 312.8 mm Hg mm, sRVCPI predicted mortality with a sensitivity of 86.8% and specificity of 69.5% (ROC area under curve: 0.712; 95%CI 0.597-0.882; P < .001). The sRVCPI was lower in the sPESI >1 than in the sPESI <1 group (364.3 +/- 31.9 vs 511.6 +/- 26.1; P < .001). There was an inverse correlation between sRVCPI and the sPESI score (-0.784; P < .001). Conclusion The sRVCPI correlated with the sPESI score and was associated with mortality in patients with APE. This easily measurable variable may be used to predict short-term mortality in APE patients.

Introduction: Mechanical obstruction is the most common form of nasal obstruction. Among the types of mechanical obstructions, septum deviation and inferior turbinate hypertrophy are the most prevalent. Objective: This study evaluated the early clinical outcomes of inferior turbinate radiofrequency and inferior turbinate lateralization combined with septoplasty in the treatment of nasal obstruction symptoms. Methods: The research retrospectively evaluated data from 33 patients (24 male, nine female) undergoing septoplasty and inferior turbinate radiofrequency (RF group) and 32 patients (24 male, eight female) treated with septoplasty and inferior turbinate lateralization (LAT group), who were admitted, with complaints of nasal obstruction, to the University of Health Sciences, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, between January 1, 2017 and January 1, 2018. The patients' preoperative and 6-month postoperative symptoms were evaluated via the Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation, the NOSE scale. Results: The mean preoperative NOSE scores were 10.3 +/- 4.2 in the RF group and 10.9 +/- 4.9 in the LAT group, and the mean six-month postoperative scores were 1.09 +/- 1.3 in the RF group and 1.2 +/- 1.3 in the LAT group. There was no significant difference in NOSE scores between the two groups (p> 0.05). Conclusion: The data obtained in this study show that both methods result in similar outcomes in terms of relieving nasal obstruction symptoms in patients requiring inferior turbinate intervention. Therefore, the researchers believe that, in each case, the intervention method should be selected at the discretion of the patient and surgeon(s). - BildiriAçık Erişim2024Reconfigurable Optical Filter Based Receiver Structure For Visible Light Communication
Küçük, Mehmet Ali; Albayrak, Cenk; Türk, Kadir
In this paper, a novel receiver structure is proposed to mitigate the inter-channel interference (ICI) effects that limit the data rate in multi-color visible light communication (MC-VLC) systems. Reconfigurable optical filters (ROFs) are used at the receiver side of MC-VLC systems to enable the separation of color channels. ROFs are optical elements that have the ability to electrically change their transmission spectrum. Utilizing this feature of ROFs, a receiver structure is developed that, unlike traditional receiver structures, can adaptively adjust the transmit spectrum based on channel state information. This adaptive adjustment is aimed at maximizing communication performance by effectively separating color channels in MC-VLC systems. The obtained results demonstrate that the proposed receiver structure achieves higher communication performance compared to traditional receivers.

Akyol, Mehmet; Soyyigit, Semanur
This study assessed the environmental technological innovation (ETI) of the 13 countries with the highest industrial added value (China, the United States, Japan, Germany, India, the United Kingdom, South Korea, France, Russia, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia) over the period between 1992 and 2019. The objective is to evaluate the impact of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, trade openness (TO), and economic growth (EG) on the ecological footprint (EFP). In this study, a panel data analysis was conducted utilizing the second-generation PANIC unit root test, the Westerlund cointegration test, the Dumitrescu-Hurlin causality test, and the common correlated effect mean group (CCEMG) and augmented mean group (AMG) estimator methods. The results of the analysis demonstrate that, according to the CCEMG, ETI exerts a mitigating influence on EFP in Indonesia. In numerous countries, CO2 has been observed to increase EFP, whereas in a select few countries, EG has been found to have a similar effect. Conversely, in China and South Korea, TO has been identified as a factor contributing to an increase in EFP, while in the United States, it has been identified as a factor that contributes to a decrease in EFP. The AMG indicates that ETI results in a decrease in EFP in Brazil and Indonesia, while simultaneously producing an increase in Mexico. While CO2 is observed to increase EFP in numerous countries, EG is seen to increase EFP in many countries, although this is only the case in India. TO is found to decrease EFP in China, India, South Korea, and Brazil, while simultaneously increasing it in Germany. The empirical evidence suggests that policies aimed at limiting uncontrolled economic growth, prioritising environmentally friendly technological innovations, improving international trade processes and policies with the objective of reducing emissions, and developing environmentally friendly processes and products in production are likely to be effective.

Oguz, Yasin; Kaya, Haydar
Systems that use UWB technology based on communication with baseband signals of very short duration recently attract attention in communication and radar application, and thereof have been improving rapidly. Because UWB signals occupy a spectrum that is spread about very wide frequency band, one of the principal issues that need to be considered in UWB applications is the frequency allocation. In order to minimize or prevent possible distorting interferences with existing communication systems, spectral distribution of mandatory EIRP limit values has been determined by FCC in UWB applications. In this study, a linear signal combination model has been established and on mathematical expressions have been provided for production of wave forms are suitable UWB emission mask specified by FCC.

Present study aims to investigate the effects of the presence of nano sized TiO2 particles in the base fluid on entropy generation rate in a microchannel heat sink. Pure water was chosen as base fluid, and TiO2 particles were suspended into the pure water in five different particle volume fractions of 0.25%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0%. Under laminar, steady state flow and constant heat flux boundary conditions, thermal, frictional, total entropy generation rates and entropy generation number ratios of nanofluids were experimentally analyzed in microchannel flow for different channel heights of 200 mm, 300 mm, 400 mm and 500 mm. It was observed that frictional and total entropy generation rates increased as thermal entropy generation rate were decreasing with an increase in particle volume fraction. In microchannel flows, thermal entropy generation could be neglected due to its too low rate smaller than 1.10e-07 in total entropy generation. Higher channel heights caused higher thermal entropy generation rates, and increasing channel height yielded an increase from 30% to 52% in thermal entropy generation. When channel height decreased, an increase of 66%-98% in frictional entropy generation was obtained. Adding TiO2 nanoparticles into the base fluid caused thermal entropy generation to decrease about 1.8%-32.4%, frictional entropy generation to increase about 3.3%-21.6%. (C) 2018 The Authors. İncele - MakaleAçık Erişim2026Electricity Prices, Technology, Productivity, And Environmental Degradation: Implications For Financial Stability
Çakir, Mehmet Ali; Ökte, Mehmet Kutlughan Savas
The limited availability of fossil fuels and the financial pressure they create for countries that do not have the resources have led countries to search for new energy sources. In particular, renewable energy sources and therefore electrical energy obtained from these sources have been proposed in the literature as an alternative to fossil fuels. Thus, this study investigates the impact of electricity prices on financial stability in European Union countries from 2010 to 2021 using Driscoll Kraay fixed effects estimation. Financial stability is measured using the bank z-score, while productivity-intensive technology, environmental quality, and economic growth are included as control variables. The findings indicate that an increase in electricity prices negatively affects the bank z-score. In contrast, productivity-intensive technology positively impacts the bank z-score. Similarly, environmental quality contributes to an increase in the bank z-score. Additionally, economic growth enhances financial stability. Considering that rising electricity prices negatively affect financial stability, policymakers should encourage companies to produce electricity from renewable sources, such as solar panels or wind turbines. This can be supported through incentives such as tax breaks or low-cost financing for firms investing in on-site renewable energy systems. In this way, electricity price fluctuations will have less impact on companies and, in turn, help protect financial stability.
