Polat, Eray; Arici, Hasan Evrim; Arasli, Huseyin
There has been a growing interest in authentic leadership as a distinctive style of leadership and a dynamic research topic. In this direction, the aim of this study is multifaceted. First, we focus on providing a comprehensive overview of research on authentic leadership (AL), which has attracted substantial research interest in the last few years. Second, we outline the theoretical and nomological network of AL, highlighting antecedents, outcomes, moderators, and mediators. Third, we offer an elaborated future research agenda to enable advances in theory and empirics. We systematically reviewed 182 articles issued in the business management and psychology literature between 2005 and 2021. Interest in AL is growing, and 2020 is the golden year. Developed countries dominate the field. After a rigorous review, we offer a future research agenda with four key themes. The study highlights that AL is critical to the emergence and growth of valuable behaviours, attitudes, and performance at individual, team, and organisational levels. The study provides new research ideas and further conceptualization of AL. We also provide a comprehensive review of why managers should continue to practice AL, where the literature has been, and where it may be headed in the future.

Design/methodology/approach: The research sample consists of 708 female healthcare professionals who work in six public hospitals. Perceptions were measured using the 42-item Glass Ceiling Perception scale. Measurements were made on a 5-point Likert scale ranging from 0 to 4. Findings: It was found that the glass ceiling syndrome perception levels of female healthcare professionals were neutral (1.94). It has been determined that female healthcare professionals with a high level of education, doctors and nurses, those between the ages of 26-35, those who work in medical units, and those with a child have higher perception levels of glass ceiling syndrome.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2023How Does Being Trusted Affect Sharing? Findings from the Ultimatum Game
Çiçen, Yildirim Beyazit
According to economic models, individuals are rational, possess full knowledge, and strive to maximize their utility beyond their actual characteristics. Nevertheless, in the real world, people shape their behavior within a social structure and can display altruistic attitudes. This study investigates how trust facilitates sharing among individuals. To determine this, the Ultimatum Game was conducted with 412 participants. Three cases were determined, and the bidder was instructed to divide 10 thousand TL first in the typical game. Afterward, it was said that the other person was in need, and the bid was requested to be renewed. At the last stage, bids were received if there was any doubt about the needy. According to the typical game, people are more empathetic towards those in need and offer 6667 TL rather than 4264 TL. However, when a question of reliability is raised, 4658 TL is offered regardless of need. The findings show that the neoclassical economics concept of homo economicus, which seeks to maximize utility, is not valid in real life.
