Background Wrestling is a physically and mentally demanding combat sport that requires discipline, focus, and emotional control. Although its physiological effects are well documented, its psychological benefits in adolescents remain underexplored. This study aimed to examine whether a short-term, non-competitive wrestling program could enhance psychological well-being, reduce sport anxiety, and strengthen resilience in adolescent boys. Methods Thirty sedentary male adolescents (aged 12-15 years) were randomly assigned to a wrestling training group (n = 15) or a control group (n = 15). The intervention consisted of six weeks of supervised wrestling sessions performed three times per week. Psychological well-being (WHO-5), sport anxiety (SAS-2), and resilience (BPRS) were assessed before and after the intervention using the validated Turkish versions of the scales. Two-way repeated-measures ANOVA was used to analyze group & times; time interactions. Results Participants in the wrestling group demonstrated significant improvements in well-being (p < 0.001) and resilience (p < 0.001), alongside marked reductions in total sport anxiety and its subdimensions (p < 0.001), compared with the control group. All effects were large (eta p & sup2; = 0.52-0.94). Conclusion A structured six-week wrestling program produced meaningful psychological benefits in adolescent boys. Regular participation in non-competitive wrestling may serve as an effective approach to promote well-being, emotional stability, and adaptive coping skills during early adolescence, supporting the preventive and developmental role of combat sports in youth mental health.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2025Interactional Roles of Proactive Personality and Religious Attitude Levels in the Effect of Disappointment Intolerance on Mental Health of Earthquake Victims
Maraslioglu, Serife Ericek
Earthquakes, as natural disasters, are stressful life events characterized by frustration, uncertainty, and psychological burden. In fact, disappointment intolerance - the inability to tolerate distressing or obstructive experiences - has been shown to predict both life satisfaction and depressive symptoms. The present study aims to examine the mediating role of proactive personality in the relationship between disappointment intolerance beliefs and mental health, as well as the moderating role of religious attitudes in this relationship among earthquake victims living in container cities after the 6 February earthquakes. The participants were survivors residing in the region's most severely affected materially and morally by the earthquake centered in Kahramanmara & scedil;, T & uuml;rkiye. Data were collected from 354 individuals 18 months after the earthquake using the Demographic Information Form, Frustration Discomfort Scale, Proactive Personality Scale, Religious Attitude Scale, and Mental Health Scale. Pearson correlation, mediation, and moderation analyses were conducted. The findings indicated that higher levels of frustration intolerance were associated with increased levels of depression, anxiety, and stress. Furthermore, proactive personality was found to mediate the effect of disappointment intolerance subdimensions (entitlement, achievement, emotional intolerance, and discomfort intolerance) on mental health outcomes. However, religious attitudes did not moderate the negative impact of disappointment intolerance on depression, anxiety, and stress. The results are discussed considering existing literature, and implications for future research and intervention strategies are offered.

İncele - MakaleAçık Erişim2025Scopus SJRQ2Factors Affecting the Mental Health of Youth After the Great Kahramanmaras Earthquake Disaster
Türkkan, Tuğba; Hatipoğlu, Ertuğrul
This study aims to determine the extent of the psychological effects of the Kahramanmaraş earthquake disaster, which is widely regarded as one of the most significant disasters of the century, on young people based on their direct or indirect exposure and to investigate the impact of these issues on life satisfaction. Data were collected from 337 individuals who were continuing their advanced education at a state university in Turkey, using a demographic information form, life satisfaction scale and Depression Anxiety Stress Scales 21. In the analysis of the data, t-test, Pearson correlation test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis were employed. The results of the analyses indicated that as the intensity of exposure to disaster news increased, the stress, depression, and anxiety levels of the participants also increased. Individuals who experienced the earthquake personally and participated in volunteer aid activities demonstrated higher depression and anxiety scores and DASS21 scale total scores than those who did not directly experience the earthquake but followed the news and those whose relatives experienced the earthquake. There was no significant difference in the intensity of following earthquake news between men and women among the participants. However, it was determined that the intensity of following earthquake news from media and social media tools positively and significantly predicted the life satisfaction of the participants. These findings provide insights for future mental health interventions and social work practices for young people affected by the earthquake.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2025Scopus SJRQ2Navigating stress with creativity: The moderating role of conflict-induced creativity on job satisfaction among entrepreneurs
Özsungur, Fahri; Bekar, Fevziye
Background: Entrepreneurs frequently encounter high levels of job stress, which can undermine their job satisfaction. Although the negative consequences of stress are well-known, less attention has been paid to the role of Conflict-Induced Creativity in buffering these effects. Objective: This study investigates how Conflict-Induced Creativity moderates the relationship between job stress and job satisfaction among entrepreneurs, addressing a gap in understanding adaptive mechanisms in high-pressure work environments. Methods: Using a quantitative design, data were collected from 453 entrepreneurs through convenience sampling. Statistical analyses included factor analyses, correlations, regressions, and moderation testing via PROCESS MACRO in SPSS v.22. Results: Validated scales assessed job satisfaction (α = 0.934), job stress (α = 0.919), and Conflict-Induced Creativity (α = 0.832). Job stress negatively predicted job satisfaction (β = −0.126, p < 0.001), while Conflict-Induced Creativity emerged as a strong positive predictor (β = 0.688, p < 0.001). Moderation analysis confirmed that Conflict-Induced Creativity significantly buffered the adverse effects of stress on satisfaction (b = 0.147, 95% CI [0.048, 0.245], p < 0.05). Conclusion: Conflict-Induced Creativity plays a protective role in stressful entrepreneurial contexts. Practically, fostering a work culture that supports Conflict-Induced Creativity can enhance resilience and job satisfaction among entrepreneurs, offering actionable insights for leadership development, training programs, and organizational policy.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2025Scopus SJRQ1The perspectives of nurses, as prominent advocates in sustainability, on the global climate crises and its impact on mental health
Ediz, Çiçek; Uzun, Sevda
Objective: To evaluate the perspective of nurses in Turkey towards the global climate crisis and its impact on mental health using a qualitative approach. Materials and Method: This study was conducted from August to September 2023 with 35 nurses living in seven regions of Turkey using an inductive qualitative approach. The researchers employed the snowball sampling method to select participants. Interviews with the participants were conducted until data saturation was reached. Thematic analysis was used to emerge themes. Results: The findings revealed five main themes (perception of the global climate crisis, effects of the global climate crisis, effects of the global climate crisis on mental health, reflections of the global climate crisis on nursing and nurses' views on prevention and intervention studies for the global climate crisis). Also, the findings revealed 12 sub-themes (physical outcomes, mental outcomes, direct and indirect impacts, psychosocial effects and personal, national and international-based reflections). Conclusion: Our study indicates that nurses exhibit genuine concern for the global climate crisis and experience psychological effects related to this pressing environmental issue. Nurses are keenly aware of their responsibility to safeguard the planet and demonstrate a strong sense of concern for the state of the world. Impact: It is evident that nurses, being prominent advocates for sustainability, are cognizant of their responsibility to protect the planet and demonstrate genuine apprehension for the state of the world. Implications: Nurses play a crucial role, as they make up 60% of the global healthcare workforce and are often the frontline healthcare professionals during natural disasters. It is vital to elucidate and clarify the terminology concerning the relationship between the climate crisis and the mental health of nurses, to determine the scope of this relationship and to make recommendations for future research areas. Patient or Public Contribution: No patient or Public Contribution.

Köroglu, Mihrac; Yilmaz, Coskun; Tan, Cetin; Çelikel, Baha Engin; Budak, Cemalettin; Kavuran, Korhan; Susuz, Yunus Emre; Barut, Yasar; Ceylan, Tulay; Soyer, Fikret
Background: The extant research on judo sports has principally concentrated on the physiological effects of training. Conversely, there has been limited attention paid to studies on psychological resilience, self-control, and emotional expression levels. The present study examined the effects of Judo exercises on psychological resilience, self-control, and emotional expression levels in healthy male subjects. Methods: The present study comprised 50 healthy, sedentary male subjects. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups: one group participated in judo training (JT) and the other group served as the control group (CON). The sample sizes for the JT and CON groups were both 25. The JT group underwent judo training, while the CON group maintained their usual lifestyle. The Brief Psychological Resilience Scale, the Multidimensional Brief Self-Control Scale, and the Berkeley Emotion Expression Scale were administered prior to and following the 6-week training period. Results: The study demonstrated that a 6-week judo training regimen exerted a significant effect on the psychological resilience score (e.s. = 1.047, p < 0.001), while no such effect was observed in the Control group (e.s. = 0.0091, p = 0.751). In the context of self-control levels, an effect was observed on the Initiation sub-dimension (e.s. = 1, 739, p < 0.001), yet no effect was found on the Inhibition dimension (e.s. = 0.052, p = 0.892). In the control group, a significant decrease was identified in the Initiation sub-dimension (e.s. = 0, 785, p = 0.001) and Inhibition sub-dimension (e.s. = 1, 861, p < 0.001). The findings indicate that impulse power (e.s. = 0.395) and concealment (e.s. = 0.428) exerted a negligible influence on the emotional expression sub-dimensions. Conversely, psychological resilience (e.s. = 0.886) demonstrated a substantial impact. Conclusions: The judo exercises demonstrated a favorable impact on psychological resilience, self-control, and emotional expression levels in healthy male subjects. The findings of this study may offer significant insights into the impact of judo exercises on psychological resilience, self-control, and emotion expression levels. These findings could serve as a guide for the development of future interventions and program design in the domain of sport psychology.
