Doğan Göktaş
Bu çalışma, ortaokul öğrencilerinin beden eğitimi dersi yatkınlık düzeyleri ile beden eğitimi dersi mutluluk düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemek ve bazı demografik değişkenlere göre farklılık gösterip göstermediğini belirlemektir. Araştırma verileri, nicel araştırma yöntemi olan ilişkisel tarama modeliyle elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın evreni, 2025-2026 eğitim öğretim döneminde Ankara ili Pursaklar ilçesinde bulunan Turgut Özal Ortaokulunda eğitim gören (n=252) kız ve (n=248) erkek olmak üzere toplamda 500 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen Kişisel Bilgi Formu ile Beden Eğitimi Dersi Yatkınlık Ölçeği ve Beden Eğitimi Dersi Mutluluk Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS 27 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) paket programında betimsel istatistikler, t-testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA), korelasyon analizi, regresyon analizi uygulanmıştır.

Can, Aysun Akçakaya; Demirağ, Hatice; Hintistan, Sevilay
OBJECTIVES: To examine the effects of live and robotic cat-assisted therapies on chemotherapyinduced symptoms and happiness levels in patients with cancer. SAMPLE & SETTING: 45 patients were randomly assigned to live cat therapy, robotic cat therapy, or control groups in a university hospital. METHODS & VARIABLES: Data were collected between June 1 and September 1, 2023. Patients in therapy groups interacted with a live or robotic cat for 20 minutes twice weekly for three months. RESULTS: Although the live cat therapy group had higher median happiness scores than the robotic cat therapy group, differences in happiness and symptom scores between groups were not statistically significant. Both therapies alleviated chemotherapy-induced symptoms and enhanced emotional well-being, with robotic cat therapy showing slightly greater overall effectiveness. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING: Robotic pet therapy offers a feasible alternative where live animalassisted therapy is impractical. Integrating these therapies into oncology nursing can enhance symptom management and psychological support, promoting holistic, patient-centered care.

Monetary Wisdom asserts that individuals apply their deep-rooted values (ardent monetary aspirations) to frame critical concerns in the immediate-proximal and omnibus-distal contexts and strategically maximize expected utility (achieve financial goals) and ultimate serenity (happiness). This study explores the bright side of Monetary Wisdom and behavioral economics, frames money attitude in the context of pay and life satisfaction, and controls money at the micro and individual level (Z income within each country) and the macro and national and global level (GDP per capita). We theorize: Managers with low love of money motive but high stewardship behavior will have high subjective well-being: pay satisfaction and quality of life. Data collected from 6586 managers in 32 cultures across 6 continents support our theory. Interestingly, GDP per capita is related to life satisfaction, but not to pay satisfaction. Individual income is related to both life and pay satisfaction. Neither GDP nor income is related to the Happiness construct (money makes people happy). For the whole sample, low motives, high stewardship behaviors, and high cognitions identify the latent Monetary Wisdom (MW), which, in turn, leads to higher pay satisfaction than life satisfaction. Results of our formative model challenge the notion that motives and cognitions are consistent in predict outcomes. Our theoretical model across three GDP groups (high, medium, and low GDP levels) offers additional innovative discoveries: In high GDP (rich) entities, “high income” not only reduces aspirations—“Rich, Motivator, and Power,” but also promotes stewardship behavior—“Factors Budget, Give/Donate, and Contribute” and cognitive meaning, “Factor Achievement.” After controlling income, we demonstrate the bright side of Monetary Wisdom: Low love of money motive but high stewardship behavior define Monetary Wisdom, which contributes to higher life satisfaction than pay satisfaction. “Good apples enjoy a good quality of life in good barrels”. This notion adds another explanation to managers’ low magnitude of dishonesty in entities with high Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) (risk aversion for gains in the high probability context). In medium GDP countries, high income is negatively related to Factors Motivator (motive), Budget (behavior), and Power (cognition). Managers enjoy higher life satisfaction than pay satisfaction. However, in low GDP (poor) entities, high income is related to poor Budgeting skills and escalated Happiness. Interestingly, income leads to the notion of high Happiness (cognition) for managers in low GDP countries only. Managers experience equal satisfaction with pay and life. Results of Monetary Wisdom add a new vocabulary to the conversation of monetary aspirations, intelligence, income, GDP, happiness, subjective well-being, good and bad apples, good and bad barrels, corruption, and behavioral ethics.

The aim of the research is to examine the effect of psychological resilience and life satisfaction on happiness. Accordingly, the research included students from different departments of Trabzon University in the spring semester of the 2018-2019 educational year and was completed with 558 students who accepted participation. Within the scope of the study, the demographic information form, Brief Resilience Scale, Satisfaction with Life Scale and Oxford Happiness Questionnaire-short form were used. As a result of the analyses, the happiness levels of students did not differ statistically significantly based on their gender and income levels, but differed statistically significantly based on department they studied and this difference was due to students attending the department of foreign languages education. Finally, according to multiple regression analysis, life satisfaction alone predicted 43% of happiness level, while including psychological resilience was included in the model, they both predicted 50%.

Method: The study sample was composed of 409 Facebook and Instagram users. Data were collected by using personal information form, Beck Depression Inventory, Oxford Happiness Scale-Short Form, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and UCLA Loneliness Scale. Correlation analysis was carried out to determine the relationship between variables. Multiple mediation analysis was conducted to determine the mediating roles of self-esteem and happiness in the relationship between loneliness and depression. Results: The results suggest that self-esteem and happiness, indeed, have mediating roles in the relationship between loneliness and depression, and multiple mediation models were found to be statistically significant. The frequency of accessing Instagram was positively associated with depression and loneliness. Facebook users had higher self-esteem levels compared to Instagram users. Discussion: In conclusion, the relationship between loneliness and depression was found to be significantly mediated by self-esteem and happiness. Increased frequency of access to Instagram every day was found to increases the level of depression and loneliness. Additionally, Instagram users were found to have lower self-esteem compared to Facebook users.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2022Would You like to Work More Hours?—An Investigation on South Africa
Popescu, Cristina Raluca Gh.; Karapınar Kocağ, Esra
To begin with, Sustainable Development Goals are of tremendous importance in all areas, being seen as vital aims in all domains, which makes them indispensable when it comes to addressing the particularities of the labour market these days. Subsequently, human resources occupy a distinctive and unique position when referring to the implications derived from targeting Sustainable Development Goals, especially in the context represented by the period specific to the COVID-19 pandemic and the international events that followed immediately after that. This study investigates the work motivation of individuals, and whether they would be willing to work more hours if they are paid. Motivation and attitudes towards working more hours might be affected by several factors, and they are important contributors to business performance. Not only business performance is to be affected, but this is also a part of Sustainable Development Goals where labour market conditions and productivity concerns are addressed, along with several other factors. Using the Quarterly Labour Force Survey from 2017 to 2022 that is conducted by Statistics South Africa, this study attempts to shed light on individual preferences for working more hours in the case of South Africa. Considering the dichotomous dependent variable, a binary response model is utilised to explore the determinants of such behaviour. Findings of the probit model reveal that socio-demographic factors such as gender, marital status, education level, and work experience are important indicators to explain this preference. More precisely, being female increases the likelihood of willingness to work more hours if paid by 1.1 percentage points, and being never married increases that probability by 2.7 percentage points. Within education categories, the highest coefficient in magnitude, having tertiary education decreases the probability of willingness to work more hours by 8.2 percentage points. As an important labour market indicator, one more year to commence working increases the probability of willingness to work more hours by 0.4 percentage points.
