The Primary Elements in the Construction of Character in the Context of the Stories (qaṣaṣ) of the Qurʾān

Özet

One of the characteristics of the Qurʾān is the transmission of its message by means of the stories (qaṣaṣ) of the Qur‟an to people. Some characters have been manifested affirmatively and some characters have been exhibited with negative aspects of the stories of the Qurʾān. While it was desired that affirmative characters be taken as an example, it was expressed that it was necessary to avoid bad characters because negative behavioral patterns were not approved by the Qurʾān. In addition to this, it has wished to take an example by characters which have been shown while explaining its messages to its audiences. The Qurʾān has concertized the models for acting experiences themselves because the applicability and practicability of concrete things are much easier on account of taking an example. This situation has been expressed in a distinct manner in the stories of the Qurʾān. The figures of the model human being which have been presented to us in the Qurʾān are ideal, equable and exemplary characters. These primary elements have been mentioned as faith (īmān), science (ʿilm), action or deed (ʿamal) and sincerity (ikhlāṣ). According to the Qurʾān, faith is the core and the essence of everything. It is the primary element of the invitation of all of the prophets. Everything has reached significance with faith. Science has been mentioned as one of the primary elements of gaining faith in the Qurʾān. Another element of completing faith and science is an action or deed. The deed is not only a dry behavior pattern. When action is together with sincerity, they have made sense. People having all of these elements are the model individuals according to the Qurʾān.
