Performance is judged using a variety of methods to ensure uniformity between competitions. Uchikomi Fitness Test (UFT) could accomplished between morning qualifying and evening finals. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of different warm-up protocols on UFT at different times of the day in female judokas. Ten volunteer women who had been practising judo on a regular basis for more than 5 years and actively competed in international tournaments took part in this study. Judokas completed UFT, either after no-warm-up (NWU), specific warm-up (SWU), and linear+lateral warm-up (FWU) protocols for two times a day in the morning: 09:00-11:00 and in the evening: 16:00-18:00, on non-consecutive days. In conclusion, there was a significant increase in UFT scores (F = 9.89; p = 0.002), a + b (F = 4.42; p = 0.04) and heart rate (F = 28.99; p < 0.001) in the early evening compared to the morning. Increases in UFT performance were observed in the SWU protocol compared to the NWU and FWU protocols (p < 0.05). However, the interaction between time of day and warm protocol was not significant (p > 0.05). The UFT performance revealed diurnal variation, and the judokas' performances may be favourably affected more in the late hours, particularly following SWU procedures.

This study aimed to analyze preferred leg (PLs) and non-preferred leg (NPLs) isokinetic knee strength, lateral asymmetry ratios and to examine their correlation with static balance. Sixteen female taekwondo (TKD) athletes voluntarily participated in the study. Knee isokinetic extension (Ex) and flexion (Flx) strength were measured in concentric / concentric (Con / Con) contractions at angular velocities of 60 degrees/s, 180 degrees/s, and 240 degrees/s. Ipsilateral hamstring / quadriceps (H/Q) and bilateral (H/H and Q/Q) ratios were calculated. Static balances were determined by taking the center of body pressure in X (COPX) and Y (COPY) axis. Paired sample t-test and Pearson correlation tests were used in statistical analysis. When the isokinetic knee strength was examined, it was found that 60 degrees/s angular velocity parameter was significantly different in Flx phase while 180 degrees/s and 240 degrees/s angular velocities were found to be significantly different in Ex phase in favor of PLs. There was no significance in bilateral and ipsilateral strength ratios of all angular velocities. There was a significant correlation between 240 degrees/s HQ and COPX in terms of ipsilateral asymmetry ratios whereas a significant correlation was found between 60 degrees/s HH and COPX in terms of bilateral asymmetry ratios. It was found that there were differences in strength between PL and NPLs, but no asymmetry was observed. There was no high level of correlation between lateral asymmetry ratios and balance in female TKD practitioners.
- MakaleYalnız künye2020The Effect of Defense Sports on the Treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in Children
Bayrakdaroglu, Serdar; Tekin, Ali
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder is a significant problem in children. Primarily pharmacological, educational, cognitive-behavioural and multi-model intervention techniques are used to treat this disorder. The success level differs with advantages and disadvantages of each technique and any single technique is not sufficient. In recent years, the positive aspects of physical exercise used in treatment alone or in combination with other techniques has made the different types of physical exercise worthy of investigation. This review aims to summarize the scientific evidence obtained through literature on the effects of defense sports in the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder in children. The results showed that the most beneficial sports are Taekwondo, Karate, Judo and Tai Chi. There are studies supporting the positive effect of the use of defense sports in treatment with few exceptions, but it is quantitatively insufficient. Therefore, new studies are needed to test the effect of different defense sports on a sufficient number of different samples representing the related population.
- MakaleYalnız künye2018Anaerobic power, lower-body strength characteristic and some kinetics and kinematics during loaded-squat jump movement in Turkish national boxers and kickboxers
Bayrakdaroglu, Serdar; Can, Ibrahim
Background & Study Aim: Among martial arts boxing and kickboxing are the most popular combat sports. The purpose of this study was knowledge about anaerobic power, lower-body strength characteristic and some kinetic and kinematics during loaded squat jump movement in Turkish national boxers and kickboxers. Material & Methods: Seven boxers (age: 25.5 +/- 2.57 years; boy: 174.2 +/- 4.38 cm; weight: 69.5 +/- 5.53 kg) and 6 kickboxers (age: 24.3 +/- 4.03 years; height: 176.1 +/- 9.45 cm; weight: 70.5 +/- 10.25 kg) who had ranks in competitions at Europe and World Championships. Totally 13 athletes (age: 25.0 +/- 3.24 years; height: 175.1 +/- 6.91 cm; weight: 70.0 +/- 7.70 kg), participated voluntarily in this study. Was applied and maximal anaerobic power, maximal anaerobic capacity, minimum anaerobic power and fatigue index values as both absolute and relative was obtained. One repetition maximal (1RM) values in full back squat (SQfull) movement was defined. Loaded-squat jump (SJLoaded) movement was applied by using an external load that corresponds to 40% of body weights of the participants by utilizing an isoinertial velocity transducer (T-Force dynamic measurement system) and values of mean propulsive velocity (MPV), peak velocity (PV), mean propulsive power (MPP) and peak power (PP) were obtained. Results: There are no statistically significant differences between velocity and power values during SJLoaded movement with 1RM and anaerobic power values of Turkish national boxers and kickboxers (p>0.05). Conclusion: As a result, the reason that there are no significant differences between both groups; it can be suggested that both groups consist of high-level athletes who participated in Europe and Word championships and their training systems and methods are similar to each other.
