Breast cancer patients may experience some health issues following surgery. Training patients about self-care plays a vital role in managing these symptoms. Mobile applications are a contemporary and appropriate approach to support patients about the potential symptoms following breast cancer surgery. This quasi-experimental study aimed to assess the impact of nurse-led support mobile application (NL-Mapp) delivered on breast cancer patients after surgery. Ninety participants were recruited, with 45 assigned to the intervention group and 45 to the control group. Subjects in the intervention group received NL-Mapp in addition to routine care, while those in the control group received only routine care over four weeks. The intervention included educational content on the postoperative period of breast cancer. Outcomes were assessed at baseline (M0), before discharge (M1), and one month after surgery (M2). The intervention group patients had significantly improved pain, affected shoulder functions, and anxiety owing to the effects of group, time, and group-time interaction. Body image and sexual adjustment were enhanced based on time and group-time interaction effects. During the follow-up period, experimental group patients experienced an improvement in body image and sexual adjustment, while those in the control group showed a decrease. This suggests that NL-Mapp may play a significant role in training breast cancer patients to manage their symptoms after surgery.

Aydin, Aydanur; Gursoy, Ayla
Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the functionality and quality of breast cancer apps that can be accessed from Turkey. Methods: In this study, a systematic search strategy was used to identify free mobile apps on breast cancer available in the App and Google Play stores. According to the study’s PRISMA flowchart, 707 apps met the inclusion criteria. The Mobile App Rating Scale (MARS) assessed the quality of the apps. Results: Mobile apps focused on the categories of communication, education, and treatment order/plan. The mean MARS quality score for all apps was 3.4, and according to the mean score of the subscales, they were categorized as functionality, aesthetics, information quality, and participation. In addition, the mean scores of the subscales were listed on MARS as functionality, aesthetics, knowledge quality, and participation. Conclusion: Nowadays, “e-health” apps are attracting attention in the treatment of health problems. While the apps in download stores appear to provide basic information about breast cancer, they offer limited and personalized problem management related to prevention, early detection, and screening. Support from healthcare professionals and further efforts can be made to develop innovative technologies and apps that include evidence-based informational content about breast cancer. Implications for Cancer Survivors: In the process of breast cancer information, survivors can be encouraged to manage this process using e-health services.

Introduction: Patients do not feel competent in managing their post-heart surgery processes. They need access to the right information to manage their symptoms. A mobile app is the right tool for this process, with its accessibility and reminder features at any time. We investigated the effects of 4-week mobile app training on respiratory functions and maintenance of drug compliance in patients after heart surgery. Material and methods: This paper reported the findings of an experimental study, which recruited a total of 120 participants of whom all underwent heart surgery. The following outcomes were measured: TriFlo results, the Morisky Questionnaire - self-reported measure of adherence, and results of the Symptom Interpretation Questionnaire. Results: All groups showed a significant difference in Symptom Interpretation Scale subscales after using the mobile app. When the results of the research are evaluated, it can be said that there is a need for nurses to produce new-generation technological equipment to meet the needs of new products to be used in the field of health. Conclusions: Individuals can solve their post-operative symptom management problems with a mobile app. The use of a mobile app positively contributes to the management of the 2 most common symptoms after heart surgery. Mobile apps are used in many disease processes in the world. The results of these studies contribute to the limited information presenting results regarding drug compliance and lung capacity in patients with a bypass between mobile apps.
