Background: This study aims to examine the effects of game-based and individualized movement training (GBIMT) program on physiological (body weight, body fat percentage, BMI) and motor outcomes (balance, reaction time, motor speed) in young adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Methods: An experimental design with pre-test–post-test control groups was used in the study. A total of 20 participants (10 in the experimental group, 10 in the control group) with a mean age of 22.2 ± 4.8 years were monitored for eight weeks. The experimental group participated in GBIMT sessions for 60 min per day, two days per week, while the control group continued their usual educational routines. Body composition (InBody 270 Body Composition Analyzer, model Plus 270, South Korea), balance (TechnoGym, Cesena, Italy), reaction time (BlazePod Ltd., Israel), and motor speed (Computerized Tapping Test, Neurosoft Inc., USA) parameters were used as measurements. Results: Repeated measures ANOVA results indicated a significant reduction in body weight in terms of the experimental group (p = 0.014, η² = 0.289). Large effect sizes were observed for body fat percentage and BMI; however, the group × time interactions were not found to be statistically significant. A significant improvement was observed in the motor speed parameter within the experimental group (p = 0.032, η² = 0.231). Reaction time decreased by 9.8%, although the group × time interaction stayed within the significance limit (p = 0.063). A trend toward improvement was observed in balance parameters; however, no statistically significant difference was found. Conclusion: The findings indicate that GBIMT produced significant improvements in body composition and motor speed after implementing for eight weeks, and also showed a strong tendency to affect reaction time. As a controlled experimental study conducted in Türkiye, this research offers a unique contribution to the literature by demonstrating the effects of game-based and individualized movement programs on both physiological and motor outcomes in individuals with ASD. Background: Aerobic capacity and respiratory efficiency are critical determinants of performance in elite female football, characterized by repeated high-intensity efforts and rapid recovery demands. Halotherapy, involving the inhalation of dry salt aerosol, has been shown to improve pulmonary health; however, its effects on exercise-related outcomes in athletic populations remain insufficiently investigated. This study aimed to examine the effects of a 12-week post-training halotherapy intervention on respiratory muscle strength, pulmonary function, and aerobic performance in elite female football players. Methods: Twenty-eight elite female football players competing in the Turkish Women's First League were randomly assigned to a halotherapy group (HG, n = 14) or a control group (CG, n = 14). Both groups completed an identical preseason training program, while the HG additionally performed 45 min halotherapy sessions three times per week in a controlled halochamber. Pre-and post-intervention assessments included maximal inspiratory and expiratory pressures (MIP, MEP), spirometric parameters (FVC, FEV1, PEF, MVV), and maximal oxygen uptake (VO(2)max) estimated using the Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test Level 1 (Yo-Yo IRT1), along with total distance covered. A 2 & times; 2 mixed-model ANOVA was used to assess time and group & times; time interaction effects. Results: Significant group & times; time interactions were observed for MIP, MEP, VO(2)max, FEV1, PEF, MVV, and Yo-Yo IRT1 performance (p < 0.05), with large effect sizes (eta p(2) = 0.269-0.924), favoring the halotherapy group. Forced vital capacity (FVC) increased over time in both groups (p = 0.141), with no significant interaction effect. Changes in the control group were comparatively smaller across most outcomes. Conclusion: Post-training halotherapy was associated with improvements in respiratory muscle strength, ventilatory function, aerobic capacity, and intermittent running performance in elite female football players. These findings suggest that halotherapy may be considered as a complementary, non-invasive strategy to support respiratory and aerobic adaptations. Further research is required to confirm these findings and to clarify the underlying physiological mechanisms. Trial registration: NCT07406386; 6 February 2026.

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between ACTN3 rs1815739, IL-6 rs1800795, and PPARA rs4253778 gene polymorphisms and anaerobic test parameters among volleyball players. A total of 22 volleyball players voluntarily participated in the study. DNA isolation from buccal epithelial cell samples were performed using a PureLink DNA isolation kit, following the manufacturer's instructions. The genotyping of ACTN3 rs1815739, IL-6 rs1800795, and PPARA rs4253778 gene polymorphisms were determined using the real-time polymerase chain reaction technique. Statistical analysis of the test results was performed using the SPSS 23 software package. Homogeneity of variance was assessed with the Levene test, and normal distribution was evaluated using the Shapiro-Wilk test. The One-Way ANOVA test was applied for the analysis of all parameters, and significance was set at p < 0.05. When the data were evaluated, no statistically significant differences were observed between PPARA rs4253778 and ACTN3 rs1815739 gene polymorphisms and anaerobic performance parameters (p>0.05). Statistically significant differences were observed between the IL-6 rs1800795 gene polymorphism and anaerobic performance parameters of back strength (p> 0.05). In conclusion, in volleyball, PPARA rs4253778 andACTN3 rs1815739 gene polymorphisms did not cause differentiation in anaerobic performance parameters. However, IL-6 gene polymorphism caused differentiation only in the back strength parameter. Additionally, the good performance of athletes with different prevalent level of genotypes in the studied performance criteria does not fully reveal which performance outcomes are influenced by the gene or genotype distributions. It is understood that further studies are needed to better determine the gene-performance relationship.

The aim of this study is twofold: (1) to identify differences in certain anaerobic parameters (10m sprint, 30m sprint, anaerobic power, and Illinois agility tests) between professional and amateur soccer players, and (2) to determine whether there is a difference in the ACTN3 gene polymorphism between professional and amateur soccer players. Ultimately, the goal is to reveal which parameters contribute to the differentiation in these two aspects. A total of 133 volunteer soccer players, including 71 professionals and 62 amateurs, participated in the research. DNA extraction from buccal epithelial cells was performed using a commercial kit to determine the genetic background of the athletes, and Real-Time PCR was conducted for genotyping. Statistical analysis of the findings obtained from the test results was performed using the SPSS 23 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) package program. The homogeneity of variance of the data was assessed using the Levene Test, and normal distribution analyses were conducted using the Shapiro-Wilk Test. Chi-square and Mann-Whitney U tests were employed for parameter analysis. The significance level was set at p<0.05. Evaluation of the data in our study revealed no statistically significant difference in ACTN3 rs1815739 gene polymorphism between the groups (p>0.05). However, there is a statistically significant difference in anaerobic parameters (10m sprint, 30m sprint, and anaerobic power) except for the Illinois test (p<0.05). In conclusion, our study found that gene polymorphism is not a differentiating factor between professional and amateur soccer players, but speed (10m and 30m) and anaerobic power parameters are differentiating factors.

SUMMARY: The purpose of this study was to reveal the differences between ACTN3 genotype (RR, RX, XX) and aerobic performance [Yo-Yo IRT1 (m), VO2 max (ml/kg/min)] in professional and regional amateur league soccer players and to reveal which of these parameters was a distinctive factor in these athletes.71 professional soccer players (age: 23.66 ±4.11 years; body height: 1.79 ± 6.99 m; body weight: 76.02 ± 6.76 kg; body fat: 11.59±3.11 %) and 62 regional amateur soccer players (age: 23.63 ±3.77 years; body height: 1.81 ± 5.77 m; body weight: 76.36 ± 7.53 kg; body fat: 15.60±4.65 %) volunteered for the study. After DNA extraction from buccal epithelial cells via a commercial kit was performed for the genetic background of the athletes, Real-Time PCR was carried out for genotyping. Furthermore, Yo-Yo IRT1 test was performed to determine the aerobic performance of the soccer players. SPSS 23 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) package program was used for the statistical analysis of the data obtained in the tests. Shapiro-Wilk test for normality and Levene's test for homogeneity of variance were performed. Chi-Square, Independent Sample T Test and One Way ANOVA test were used in the analysis of the parameters. Statistical significance was set as p<0.05. In the study, there found no meaningful statistical significance in terms of the rs1815739 polymorphism in the ACTN3 gene between the groups (p>0.05); however, there was a statistical significance in favor of professional soccer players in terms of aerobic parameters (p<0.05). Consequently, it can be said that aerobic performance is the distinguishing factor, not the ACTN3 gene, in soccer players.
