Background: Nurse migration contributes to the nursing shortage in developing countries. Understanding nurses' attitudes toward migration and related factors is crucial for policy-making and healthcare workforce planning in Turkey. Aim: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between nurses' attitudes toward migration and their life satisfaction in Turkey. Methods: The study included working nurses with social media accounts on a social media platform in Turkey who followed nursing-related content. A sample of 423 nurses completed an online survey. Independent variables included nurses' sociodemographic characteristics and inclination toward migration, while dependent variables were life satisfaction and migration attitude levels. Data were collected via an online questionnaire, incorporating the Brain Drain Attitude Scale (BDAS) and Life Satisfaction Scale (LSS), between April and May 2023. Results: The study found a negative correlation between nurses' life satisfaction levels and their attitudes toward migration (r = −.349, p <.001). Nurses dissatisfied with their profession (F = 6.575, p <.05), lacking professional support (F = 8.641, p <.05), and lacking social support (F = 6.307, p <.05) scored higher on the BDAS. Conversely, those satisfied with their profession (F = 31.455, p <.05), receiving professional support (F = 26.307, p <.05), and social support (F = 33.990, p <.05) scored higher on the LSS. Conclusion and implications for nursing: The study revealed that decreased life satisfaction among nurses in Turkey correlates with increased migration attitudes. These results underscore the need for strategies to enhance nurses' job satisfaction and support systems to mitigate migration tendencies. This study contributes valuable insights into the high inclination of Turkish nurses toward emigration.

- MakaleAçık Erişim2022The Effect of Unemployment and Urbanization on Migration in Turkey: An Evaluation in terms of the Harris-Todaro Model; [Türkiye’de İşsizlik ve Kentleşmenin Göç Üzerindeki Etkisi: Harris-Todaro Modeli Açısından Bir Değerlendirme]
Sancar, Canan; Akbaş, Yusuf Ekrem
This study tested whether there was a relationship between migration, unemployment, and urbanization based on the Harris-Todaro model in 12 regions of Turkey, which were formed according to NUTS-1 classification, in the period between 2008 and 2019. For this purpose, panel data methods that consider cross-section dependency were used in the study. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that the Harris-Todaro model was valid in TR1, TR2, TR3, TR4, TR5, and TR6 regions. In TR7, TR8, TR9, TRA, TRB, and TRC regions, it was found that the Harris-Todaro model was not valid.

İncele - MakaleAçık Erişim2022Scopus SJRQ2Investigation of natural radionuclide variations and the possible uranium migration by testing with gamma-ray spectrometer: An example from Tuğlu Tepe and Deliler Sites in Şefaatli/Yozgat, Central Anatolia Region, Turkey
Altundaş, Suna
The in-situ gamma-ray spectrometry measurements are performed to define and map natural radionuclide variations and the possible uranium migration on the sandstone in the Central Anatolia Region and Deliler sites in Yozgat, Turkey. The concentrations of radionuclide (eU, eTh, K%) and dose rate values were measured totally on 384 points in both areas with a duration of 5 min at each measurement point. The radionuclide ratios (eTh/K, eU/K, and eU/eTh), geochemical indicators (Ume, F parameter and eU-(eTh/3,5) rate) of uranium remobilization in the rocks, and the hazard parameters were calculated and evaluated by using measured data. The separation of uranium-rich or poor areas was made easily and associated with lithological formations by evaluating all the maps produced together. While the highest concentrations of radionuclide, and dose rate values were recorded in the sandstone units under the cover layer that are Eocene neritic limestones, the lowest concentration values and dose rate were measured on siltstone and claystone in the northern part of the Tuğlu Tepe area. At the Deliler study area, the lower anomaly zones are coincide with the soils used for the cultivation of chickpeas consists of loosely cemented sandy clay siltstone, claystone, gravel, sand, silt, and clay whereas the highest concentrations observed in the outcropped sandstone and limestones. It can be seen that the study areas have variable radioactivity levels as a result of both the weathering from the surrounding granitic rocks and the transport and accumulation of sediments through different factors. On sandstones serving as reservoir rock for uranium mineralization in both Tuğlu Tepe and Deliler sites, there is a uranium migration from the granitic rocks towards these masses and sandstones have been enriched by uranium. As a result of the evaluations, it has been seen that the areas showing uranium enrichment originated from migration can be determined very easily by radioactivity measurements, which is a fast, economical and effective method.
