This research assesses the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI)-based batch order picking in a warehouse, focusing on benefits, challenges, and critical success factors. Using customer order data and simulation, the study employs a quantitative approach, combining mathematical and statistical estimations with qualitative examinations centered on interviews with the warehouse staff, its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) developer, and the AI developer. The findings of this mixed-method study reveal that the AI-based order-picking system (AI-based system) has improved order-picking efficiency by reducing travel distance and time. Nevertheless, challenges hinder maximum utilization of the system. In addition, the research highlights critical success factors and other benefits of adopting the system tailored to warehouse management. Understanding the lessons learned in this research is essential for businesses seeking to adopt AI to enhance their efficiency.

Rapid development of IT and communication technologies resulted in the “Smart” concept, which of late has become quite popular. The smart concept signifies the integration of organizational networks and smart features that enrich the ecosystem, facilitate daily activities for all stakeholders, and for automatization. Smart concept was discussed as a complicated technological infrastructure in urban areas intended to promote economic, social and environmental welfare. The latest technological developments gave rise to the concepts of smart planet, smart city and smart destination that have become important in recent years. Technological innovations have had a big influence on the development of the tourism industry. Smart concept is conceptualized as smart tourism for tourism sector. Smart Tourism generally has a positive effect on the rapid change of information and technology and on the tourism sector, tourism activities and increase in customer satisfaction. In this chapter, the concept of Smart and its smart technologies are explained and information about its reflections on the tourism sector and smart tourism destinations are discussed.

While EU-China relations are often characterized by a clear divergence of values and political norms, the scope and size of the relationship between the two sides in the past twenty-five years has been remarkable. The basis of this development lies in the considerable expansion of the economic interaction and substantial growth in trade between the two sides since the early 1990. Relations between the EU and China are now so dense as well as complex. In this study, development of the relations between the EU and China will be discussed and it will also be expressed why and how much this relation is significant for both parties. While doing this, the main factors that enable the relations between the EU and China and that prevent aforementioned relations to deepen will be discussed and opportunities, expectations and problems these bring forth will be mentioned. Thus, this study will try to provide an answer why the EU and China experience significant conflicts and even come across each other from time to time in the recent years will be answered.
