AIlessphobia in education refers to the anxiety, fear, and feeling of inadequacy that students experience when they are unable to access or use artificial intelligence (AI) tools during academic tasks. AIlessphobia in education, which has been proposed as a relatively new psychological concept in educational settings, may be related to students' self-regulation difficulties and procrastination tendencies. In this context, this study examined the relationship between AIlessphobia in education and academic procrastination in students of the Faculty of Sport Sciences. The study was designed as a cross-sectional study and included 313 undergraduate students selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using a demographic information form, the AIlessphobia in Education Scale and the Academic Procrastination Scale. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis and simple linear regression were used to analyse the data. The findings indicated that AIlessphobia in education and its subdimensions were positively associated with academic procrastination. In the regression model, AIlessphobia in education was significantly associated with academic procrastination and explained 5.2% of the variance. Although the explained variance was small, the findings suggest that higher AIlessphobia in education levels are associated with higher academic procrastination. These findings contribute to the emerging literature on AI-related psychological constructs in education and indicate that academic procrastination may be a significant correlate of AIlessphobia in education among university students.

Women are greatly underrepresented in positions of political leadership around the world. In seeking to explain this underrepresentation, some researchers have pointed to people's tendencies to stereotype leaders as more similar to men than women as these tendencies can support the belief that women are unsuited to leadership. This project aimed to test whether a subtle linguistic intervention was able to ameliorate this gender bias in political leadership stereotypes across different languages and national contexts (country/region N = 42, language N = 30, sample N = 22,996). Specifically, this project examined whether gender-fair language (e.g., the use of paired pronouns ‘he or she’) can reduce the tendency for people to stereotype political leaders as more similar to men than women. To increase the rigor with which these stereotypes were measured, this project complemented the dominant ‘cheap talk’ measure of personal stereotype content with an incentivised community measure of this content. As expected, participants stereotyped political leaders as more similar to men than women; this pattern was stronger on the incentivised measure of community stereotypes. Unexpectedly, there was no evidence that paired pronouns reduced this bias (there was weak exploratory evidence that paired nouns increased participants' tendencies to stereotype political leaders as more similar to women). This project suggests that the ability of gender-fair language interventions to ameliorate gender bias in the political leadership domain may be limited.

Emotions are seen as very important in interpersonal relationships. Shyness, which is a self-conscious emotion, is also one of the important factors affecting interpersonal relationships. For this reason, shyness has become one of the important subjects of study. In particular, some studies have been conducted on cultural differences in terms of the definition and emergence of the concept of shyness. Considering the cultural differences in the conceptualization of shyness, it seems that there are some differences among societies. At the same time, these differences regarding shyness may change over time. Therefore, individuals' opinions are considered crucial in order to better understand these differences. This study aims to understand the concept of shyness in Turkish society and to reveal possible situations that cause shyness. To understand the concept of shyness and to determine the factors that cause shyness, open-ended questions were asked to a total of 147 participants from 3 different groups (people living in rural areas, people living in cities, and shy people). Data collected from participants were used to determine themes within the framework of 6 basic objectives related to shyness using the MAXQDA analysis program. In addition, qualitative study results were evaluated.
- MakaleAçık Erişim2023An Integration of Self-Conscious Emotion into Public Service Announcement: The Effect of Framing Messages Based on Guilt and Shame-Inducing Strategies on the Intention of Behavior Change
Temel, Ahmet
PSAs (Public service announcements) about social issues have become important tools of persuasion that aimed to direct the public regarding attention to those problems that intended to bring attitude and behavior change. Prevailing studies indicated that message framing that links to a different type of emotional experiences has played different roles in changing the perception of individuals.Specifically, fear appeal-inducing techniques and their effectiveness were the main focus of scientific studies in the area. However, a new line of research indicated that, besides fear, other types of emotions might be important for effective message framing that can bring changes through some forms of persuasion. Following this new development, in this paper, it was proposed that the way the message is framed (either behavior-focused or self-focused) elicits different self-conscious emotions (i.e., guilt and shame) that will differently affect intention for behavior change. The core assumption of the proposed model is that messages framed based on guilt-inducing strategies may lead to intention for behavior change due to the absence of suppression, while messages framed on shame-inducing techniques suppress behavioral change due to the activation of suppression. In line with his, an alternative model was proposed which posits that the potential effectiveness of framing messages based on guilt and shame-inducing techniques varies with respect to a cultural orientation that persists in a given society. In the course of enhancing the proposed model, the paper attempts to draw some examples of message framing based on guilt and shame-inducing and concludes with limitation inherent in the current model.
