The Optimal Manpower Planning of Hotel Personnel: Application of Pure Integer Programming

    Ergülen, Ahmet; Bolayır, Banu

Working with the right number of personnel in public or private institutions and creating an efficient and effective work plan are important for the workplace. When considered in terms of businesses, manpower planning adds material and moral values to the business in the competitive market if it is prepared following the wishes and abilities of the personnel along with customer satisfaction. With the integer programming method, manpower planning can be established by optimizing the manpower, and missing or excess personnel can be determined. If there is more personnel in the business, the cost is reduced by detecting them. In this study; the February 2021 data of the personnel in Gumushane Ramada Hotel, which is operating in the center of Gumushane, was taken, and a pure integer programming model was established for manpower planning in accordance with this data. The aim of the study is to make optimal the manpower planning of the personnel in the hotel. In the application part of the study, a pure integer programming model was established as per the units where shift personnel at the hotel should be located, the working conditions determined by the hotel, and the salaries of the personnel. The solution of the pure integer programming model was made with the LINDO 6.1 package program, and the optimal solution was obtained. As a result of the solution, optimal manpower numbers in the hotel shifts were found, and it was detected that the number of personnel in the hotel was excessive. Cost minimization opportunity has been provided by determining the optimal number of hotel personnel.

In Covid-19 Process Evaluation with Data Envelopment Analysis Efficiency of Turkey

Ünal, Zeynep; Ergülen, Ahmet; Bolayır, Banu; Harmankaya, Ibrahim

In this study, which emerged in Wuhan Province in China in December 2019 and turned into a pandemic by affecting the whole world, the new coronavirus disease called Covidien-19 in combating the epidemic, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey aimed to investigate the activity level. "Data Envelopment Analysis Method" was used to measure the efficiency level. For the purpose of the study, the data were collected from It has been obtained from the official website of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health, the Covid-19 information page. The measurement of the efficiency level was applied through two analyzes. In the first analysis, two inputs (number of patients, number of tests) and one output (number of deaths) were used. In the second analysis, two inputs (number of patients, number of tests) and one output (number of recovered) were used. The results were evaluated by dissolving the data in LINDO package program. As a result of the study, the relative efficiency analyzes of April, May, June, July, August, September and October were performed, and as a result of the application of input-oriented DEA models, the effective and ineffective months were determined and evaluated.
