    Aydin, Aydanur; Karadeniz, Havva

Aim: The research was carried out to determine the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of the patients who were hospitalized due to their chronic disease. Material and Method: The descriptive study was completed with 47 patients hospitalized. The data were collected with a questionnaire and chi-square test was used. Results: It was found that one fifth of the patients donated organs by applying to a health institution and four of them thought to donate organs. Three-fifths of patients who do not want to donate organs are determined to be contrary to their religious beliefs, half of them do not want to donate organs to a person whose religious belief is not the same. It was observed that married patients wanted to donate organs higher than singles. Theoretical Knowledge Difference Between Internet-Based and Digital Storytelling Education About Breast Cancer

    Aydin, Aydanur

Aim: Previous research has identified the theoretical knowledge about breast cancer early diagnosis of nursing students and stated that new methods are needed in education. To evaluate the effect of education on the theoretical knowledge of students through internet-based or digital storytelling. Material and Method: Quasi-experimental study with comparison groups and pre- and post-measurements. In the internet-based education group 68 and digital storytelling videos 66 undergraduate nursing students have included in the study. Data for the study were gathered, before education and after eight weeks. The percentages were calculated for every measurement, the test was used for the data whose conformity to normal distribution, and was used to detect the statistical significance of changes between measurements. Results: The increase in knowledge scores was more often statistically significant in internet-based education than in the digital storytelling video. Conclusion: This research shows that it is possible to create changes in teaching breast cancer early diagnosis methods by using the developing technology.

Mix Reality in Reducing Operational Anxiety

Aydin, Aydanur; Gürsoy, Ayla; Serpici, Ayşe

Augmented reality and virtual reality are some of the innovative products found in the healthcare industry. The use of these products in the hospital environment is becoming widespread today. The use of these methods can contribute to changing the diagnosis or treatment experiences that cause individuals to experience negative emotions with these products with different areas of use. In addition, it is predicted that both methods can produce effective results in the fields of health education in individuals, developing desired behavior in health management, preparing and disseminating programs for patient information and behavioral changes. It has been determined that these technologies, which produce effective results in the management of stress and anxiety, have similar results in the operating room. The article discusses the results of using virtual and augmented reality technologies for different purposes in healthcare. The information discussed is expected to raise awareness of the usage areas of the technologies in question and to shed light on studies for different areas of use.

Understanding Nursing Students’ Experience Through Digital Storytelling

Aydin, Aydanur; Gürsoy, Ayla; Tatli, Zeynep

Objective: The aim of this study was to explore both the student-created digital storytelling and the views of peer sharing of digital\rstorytelling that reflect the clinical experiences of nursing students. Methods: The study employed an explorative qualitative\rdesign. The data were collected with a questionnaire containing the findings related to the process of digital story formation and\rSWOT analysis. After peer sharing, the effect of the digital storytelling on the clinical process was determined with a semistructured interview form. The study follows the COREQ guidelines for qualitative studies. Results: The findings showed that that\rthe student-created digital storytelling was insufficient hardware, interactive and triggering way of communication. While the study\ralso revealed that they had a lack of deeper thinking and product creation had a positive effect on self-esteem. Conclusion: Studentcreated digital storytelling seems to be effective in conveying the clinical experiences. Considering the fact that the acquired\rhardware contributes to a desired level of learning, it can be said that digital stories are the right tools for transferring sharing\rsubjects. In addition, it can be said that an environment should be created for the students to become aware of their weaknesses and\rthreats. In this context, it can be stated that the information obtained from the peer sharing of students contributed to both\rprofessional life and individual equipment during the study. The sharing of different clinical settings with students with the help of\ra technological tool makes the students feel more comfortable in the clinic. The digital story is a method that can be used by young\rpeople of similar ages, both in terms of students preparing their own experiences and being a technological product.

RESPIRATORY FUNCTION AND DRUG COMPLIANCE POSTOPERATIVE MONITORING WITH A MOBILE APPLICATION AFTER CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS GRAFT SURGERY: A RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL

Aydin, Aydanur; Çilingir, Dilek; Sever, Binnaz; Aykan, Banu; Simsek, Kubra; Taspinar, Buket; Kiraç, Asena

Introduction: Patients do not feel competent in managing their post-heart surgery processes. They need access to the right information to manage their symptoms. A mobile app is the right tool for this process, with its accessibility and reminder features at any time. We investigated the effects of 4-week mobile app training on respiratory functions and maintenance of drug compliance in patients after heart surgery. Material and methods: This paper reported the findings of an experimental study, which recruited a total of 120 participants of whom all underwent heart surgery. The following outcomes were measured: TriFlo results, the Morisky Questionnaire - self-reported measure of adherence, and results of the Symptom Interpretation Questionnaire. Results: All groups showed a significant difference in Symptom Interpretation Scale subscales after using the mobile app. When the results of the research are evaluated, it can be said that there is a need for nurses to produce new-generation technological equipment to meet the needs of new products to be used in the field of health. Conclusions: Individuals can solve their post-operative symptom management problems with a mobile app. The use of a mobile app positively contributes to the management of the 2 most common symptoms after heart surgery. Mobile apps are used in many disease processes in the world. The results of these studies contribute to the limited information presenting results regarding drug compliance and lung capacity in patients with a bypass between mobile apps.

Lymphedema Information and Prevention Practices of Women After Breast Cancer Surgery

    Aydin, Aydanur; Gürsoy, Ayla

AIM: This study was carried out to determine women's knowledge about lymphedema precautions and their practice status. The sample of this descriptive and correlationally designed study included 107 women who underwent surgery. METHOD: This descriptive study's data were collected using a questionnaire form developed by the researcher. The data were structured on a 3-point Likert-typescale.The one-way analysis of variance, correlations, and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test were used in the statistical analysis. RESULTS: Three-quarters of the women knew that they should do arm exercises, keep the arm above the heart level while resting, and that blood pressure should not be measured, and jewelry not be worn. However, it was found that the percentage of women who did not know that the arm circumference should be measured at regular intervals or how to evaluate the arm circumference measurements and what to do in case of an injury was the same. It was determined that the precautions that the majority of women took in measuring lymphedema consisted of not measuring blood pressure, not wearing tight jewelry, and wearing an appropriate bra. CONCLUSION: It is thought that patients should be informed about the development of lymphedema after breast cancer surgery because their compliance with taking the precautions will be important in reducing the incidence, degree, and effects of lymphedema.
