    Adanacioglu, Hakan; Doğan, Nilgün

It has become common to increase the market power of commodities by protecting the features of the products specific to the region with the GI label. There are many gastronomic products registered with GI in the province of Gümüşhane and one of them is Kelkit Dry Beans, which was registered by the Turkish Patent Institute (TPE) in 2020. This seedis registered with its white colour and pink spots on it, with its distinctive features compared to other dry bean seeds. In recent years, local farmers have been producing with impure dry bean seeds, which they obtained from the surrounding regions and have higher yield characteristics, the dried beans produced with this seed differ from the beans produced with the local seed with its pinkish coloration and elliptical grain feature. In order to turn the product value of Kelkit Dry Beans produced with local seeds into an advantage, examining the prices received by the farmers according to their quality characteristics and comparing them according to spatial characteristics constituted the focus of this study. For both farmer groups, dry bean sales amount, prices and distance to the sales point were examined according to the product grade, which is the factor determining the quality in 2020 and 2021. According to the findings of this study, there is no expected difference between the prices received by the farmers. However, the results of the analysis show that there is a positive and strong relationship between the product quality and the average sales price obtained.
