The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of some parameters on the shooting performance of air rifle shootersin terms of gender and level of competition. To achieve this, 20 air rifle shooters who ranked in the Air Guns Turkey Cup and Air Guns Turkey Championships volunteered for the study. In this study, the height and body composition of the participants were measured, and then grip strength, back and leg strength, heart rate, flexibility, vital capacity, static balance, dynamic balance, and reaction time tests were performed. One (1) series, which included ten (10) shots was fired to determine the shooting success of the participants. There found a positive and high statistical significance between the scoresof the elite shooters in a series of shots and their expected vital capacity measurements (r=.656; p<0.05), between the scores of the junior shooters in a series of shots, their measured vital capacity (r=.820; p<0.01), their vital capacity percentage (r=.686; p<0.05), and their right-hand grip strength (r=.703; p<0.05). Furthermore, while a negative and high significance was acquired between the male participants’ scores in a series of shotsand the right foot dynamic balance (r= -790; p<0.05), there was a positive and high correlation between the scores of female participants in a series of shots and their expected vital capacity (r=.704; p<0.05). As a result, it was concluded that some performance parameters in terms of gender and level of competition affected the shooting performance of the participants.

    Can, İbrahim; Bayrakdaroğlu, Serdar

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the relationship between the upper-body strength characteristic withvelocity and power parameters during the bench throw exercise shows a significant difference according to sports branches. Inaccordance with this purpose; a total of 52 athletes (age: 22,8±3,61 years; height: 183,3±10,8 cm; weight: 80,1±13,4 kg) including13 volleyball players (age: 20,3±1,25 years; height: 194,7±7,51 cm; weight: 87,8±7,22 kg) and 13 handball players (age: 25,4±3,86years; height: 187,5±8,33 cm; weight: 90,9±14,8 kg) competed in Turkey 1. League together with 13 national martial players (age:25,0±3,24 years; height: 175,1±6,91 cm; weight: 70,0±7,70 kg) and 13 arm wrestling players (age: 20,6±1,93 years; height:175,7±5,39 cm; weight: 71,9±7,92 kg) participated as voluntarily. To determine the velocity and power parameters, a benchthrow (BT) movement was performed using an external load of 30 % of the participants' body weight and mean propulsivevelocity (MPV), peak velocity (PV), mean propulsive power (MPP) and peak power (PP) by the help of an isoinertial velocitytransducer (T-Force dynamic measurement system). Shapiro-Wilk normality test, descriptive statistics and Spearmancorrelation analysis methods were used to evaluate the data. According to the results of the analysis, it was found that therewas a statistically significant relationship between the upper-body strenght characteristics with together velocity and powerparameters during the BT movement and this relationship shows a statistically significant difference compared to the sportsbranches. While both the volleyball players and the handball players have a high and positive relationship between the upperbody strength characteristics with together velocity and power values during the BT movement (p<0.05); it was found thatmartial players have only a significant relationship with PV and MPP values. On the other hand, it was determined that armwrestling players don’t have any statistically significant relationship between both strength and velocity values andcharacteristic of upper-body strength (p>0.05). As a results, it can be asserted that sports branch is an important factor for therelationship between the upper-body strength characteristics with together velocity and power parameters during the benchthrow movement.

Can, İbrahim; Yildiz, Beyza; Yasar, Aras Beka; Bayrakdaroğlu, Serdar

The aim of this investigation was to evaluate an overall performance of the elite women football players. In accordance withthis purpose, 11 women football players (age: 21,5 ± 2,58 years; height: 160,8 ± 5,17 cm; weight: 55,8 ± 7,23 kg) who plays inTurkish Women’s 1st Football League participated voluntarily. In order to measure athlete’s aerobic capacity, Yo-Yointermittent recovery test (Yo-Yo IR1) was applied and maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) values were estimated by usingrunning distances obtained from the test results. The Wingate anaerobic power test (WanT) to measure the athlete's anaerobicproperties, the vertical jump (VJ) and standing long jump (SLJ) tests to determine explosive power, the Illinois agility test tomeasure agility skills, 10 and 30 meters sprint runs to measure sprint performances, hand grip and back-leg strength tests tomeasure strength characteristics were used. In order to obtain power and velocity parameters, loaded-squat jump (SJLoaded) wasapplied with an resistance that equaled to 40% of body weight and bench throw (BT) was applied with an resistance thatequaled to 30% of body weight of the participants by applying an isoinertial device and results of peak power (PP), peakvelocity (PV), mean propulsive power (MPP), and mean propulsive velocity (MPV) during both movements were recorded.Statistical analysis was used in the assessment of the data. According to analysis results, it was achieved that Yo-Yo IR1 runningdistances was as 676,3 ± 156,4 meters, while VO2max values of athletes were estimated as 42,2 ± 1,20 ml/kg-1/min-1. Relative andabsolute anaerobic power values for elite women football players were obtained as 439,7 (± 61,18 W) and 8,04 (± 1,09 W/kg) formaximal anaerobic power, 316,1 (± 34,46 W) and 5,78 (± 0,56 W/kg) for maximal anaerobic capacity, 193,6 (±22,30 W) and 3,55 (±0,61 W/kg) for minimal anaerobic power, respectively. In addition, fatigue index values measured as 55,7 (± 3,75 %).Participant’s right and left hand grip strength values were obtained as 30,6 (± 4,62 kg) and 29,6 (± 4,5 kg), back and leg strengthvalues measured as 90,2 (± 18,7 kg) and 101,8 (± 29,5 kg), respectively. Participant’s 10 and 30 meters sprint duration wereobtained as 1,85 (± 0,12 sec) and 4,96 (± 0,34 sec). SLJ, VJ and agility values were obtained as 178,4 (± 21,1 cm), 35,7 (± 4,60 cm)and 17,6 (±0,67 sec), respectively. Velocity and power values for athletes during BT movement were obtained as 1,21 (± 0,10m/sec) for MPV, 2,04 (± 0,18 m/sec) for PV, 353,6 (± 83,2 W) for MPP and 666,3 (± 152,1 W) for PP. In response to this, velocityand power values for athletes during SJLoaded movement were obtained as 1,21 (±,10 m/sec) for MPV, 2,04 (± ,18 m/sec) for PV,353,6 (± 83,2 W) for MPP and 666,3 (± 152,1 W) for PP. As a result, although there are many studies on physical or physiologicalcharacteristics of elite male footballers, the literature on the overall performance characteristics of women football players arelimited. It is thought that the results obtained are important to fill this lack in the literature and will be the reference source for future research.

The investigation of relationships among sprint and jump performance with velocity parameters during propulsive phase of full back squat exercise

Can, İbrahim; Cihan, Hamit; Ari, Erdal

The basic purpose of this study was to investigate of the relationships with sprint and jump performance of velocity parameters during propulsive phase of full back squat exercise and to determine which variable was associated with which loading loading. For this purpose, thirty-two men amateur athletes (age: 20.4 ± 1.98 years; height: 179.3 ± 7.23 cm; weight: 73.5 ± 9.85 kg) who actively involved in sports and have a basic level of force participated in voluntarily to this study. In the study, one repetition maximum (1RM) full squat (SQ) strength test, vertical jump test, 5 meters and 30 meters sprint test were applied. The descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis was used for statistical evaluation of datas. According to analysis results; it was obtained that mean velocity (MV), mean propulsive velocity (MPV) and peak velocity (PV) values during propulsive phase of full back squat exercise performed in different loads were decreased in parallel with load increase. In addition, it was obtained that there was no statistically a significant relationships between 5 meters sprint times and vertical jump performance with MV, MPV and PV values during propulsive phase of full back SQ exercise performed at different loads of 1RM (p > 0.05). Conversely, it was obtained that there was a mean level, negative and statistically significant relationship between 30 meters sprint times with MV during propulsive phase of full back SQ movement performed at 20 % and % 90 of 1RM load values (r = - .412; r = - .399, p < 0.05, respectively) and PV values obtained at 40 % and 60 % of 1RM load values (r = - .402; r = - .370, p < 0.05, respectively). Consequently, it was suggested that movement velocity is not an important component for performance parameters as 5 meter sprint and jumping height.

Can, İbrahim; Kale, Rasim; Cihan, Hamit; Ari, Erdal

The purpose of this study was to determine maximal isometric strength with bilateral and unilateral muscle contractions and investigate maximal strength training whether or not influenced on this bilateral deficit. For this reason, 34 amateur soccer player (age = 17 ± 2.51 years) were divided into three groups as bilateral training group (n=14), unilateral training group (n=10) and control group (n=10). The unilateral training group performed maximal leg press exercise using each leg unilaterally. The bilateral leg training group was performed to leg press exercise using simultaneously bilateral legs. The control group wasn't trained. The groups in training continued these resistance exercises as 1 hour a day, 3 days a week, for 12 weeks. The improvement in strength brought by training was compared as bilateral training group and unilateral training group. Bilateral deficit also was calculated between two groups. The strength in the trained limbs during training was measured in 4th weak (after four weeks) and 12th weak (after twelve weeks). It was determined that maximal isometric strength of two training groups was increased significantly by strength trainings (p<0.05). There wasn't any significant difference at strength increase for first four weeks of training period (p>0.05). It was determined that strength was increased significantly for final weeks of training period (p<0.05). The other important consequence of this study was determined that maximal strength training had significant effect on bilateral deficit (p<0.05). As a consequence of this study, maximal strength trainings which involved bilateral muscle contractions were effective for reducing of bilateral deficit.
