Sustainability of Air Logistics: A Bibliometric Analysis

    Vural, Selvi

The aim of this study is to identify the gap in the literature based on past research on the sustainability of air logistics and to guide new research in this context. In this research, bibliometric analysis method was used. In this context, firstly the studies were extracted from the WOS (Web of Science) database. Later, it was analysed with the Vosviewer program and studies on the sustainability of air logistics were examined in detail to direct future research. As a result of the bibliometric analysis on the sustainability of air logistics, it was determined that there were 146 studies between 1985-2024. The vast majority of these were in English and in the Proceeding Paper type. Most studies belong to the field of science, and the share of research in the social sciences in the total is quite low. In terms of research categories, research specific to the fields of engineering and management is common. This research which aims to provide a comprehensive perspective on the sustainability of air logistics by capturing the relationship between its past and future, is a first in the literature and is believed to contribute theoretically and practically.

The Mediating Role of Customer Relationship Managment (CRM) in the Effect of Innovation on Perceived Service Quality: The Case of Airlines System

    Okan, Serdar

Today, businesses apply the Customer Relationship Management approach to ensure customer satisfaction and sustain customer loyalty. In this approach, it is aimed to go beyond satisfaction by putting the customer at the center. This research conducted at Antalya Airport aims to examine the impact of technological innovations by airline companies on the perceived service quality of passengers and how this impact is shaped through customer relationship management practices. The results of the study provide strategic recommendations and guidance for companies in the aviation sector. This presents an innovation in facilitating companies to make direct inferences from the research findings, aiding them in deriving practical insights. Through face-to-face interviews with passengers arriving at Antalya Airport, a sample of 430 respondents was reached, and all completed surveys were utilized. The data obtained from these passengers were analyzed using IBM SPSS 21 and SmartPLS 4 programs within the framework of established hypotheses. The results of the Structural Equation Analysis indicate a direct partial impact of innovative activities implemented by airline companies on the perceived service quality. This direct effect is found to create a complete impact indirectly. Additionally, it has been determined how customer relationship management practices shape this impact by acting as a mediator. The findings provide guidance to airline companies in understanding the influence of technological innovations on customer satisfaction and optimizing strategic customer relationship management practices. This study recommends that companies in the aviation sector focus on technological innovations to gain a competitive advantage and enhance customer satisfaction.

The Impact of the Ukraine-Russia Conflict on the Aviation Sector: February-May 2022

Açıkel, Bırsen; Akbarli, Araz; Öndeş, Ezgi Begüm; Gezer, Dilek

Aviation; it is a global sector that affects many areas such as education, trade, tourism, and is also affected by many situations such as epidemics, economic fluctuations, political disagreements and military intervention. For this reason, the disagreement between Ukraine and Russia also quietly affects the aviation industry. Although disagreements seem to continue between the two countries, issues such as the closure of airspaces, changes in flight costs as a result of changing routes, the situation of aircraft and component manufacturers, tourism and aviation security concern aviation globally. In this study, which was conducted to reveal the impact of the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the aviation sector, case study research, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. In a four-month period, sources such as newspaper news, internet news sites, websites of authorities were scanned, and it was tried to reveal how the conflict was reflected in the aviation industry. This method was chosen considering that it is suitable for this study in terms of revealing what happened in the past, how people were affected, how the processes took place, and what the results were. Between February 24 and March 2, when the disagreements between the two countries began, all flights to Ukraine were stopped, while air traffic in neighbouring countries decreased. International passenger traffic of Russian airlines decreased by at least four times in March 2022 compared to March 2021, and by sixteen times compared to March 2019. The Ukraine-Russia conflict also negatively affected the flight times of passenger flights between East and West. As a result of the study, the great impact of the four-month period, which is thought to be short, on the aviation sector has been tried to be revealed.

Combined Quadrotor Autopilot System and Differential Morphing System Design

    Oktay, Tugrul; Kose, Oguz

The aim of this article is to design and model a quadrotor with autopilot system and differential morphing using the Simultaneous Perturbation Stochastic Approximation (SPSA) optimization algorithm. Along with differential morphing, quadrotor modelling and control was also done. Although it is simple in structure, it has a complex structure in terms of model and control. Newton-Euler method was used for the dynamic model. Non-linear motion equations have been converted to linear motion equations. The full quadrotor model was drawn in the Solidworks program. Mass and moment of inertia information was obtained from this model. Simulation model was created by using state space model approach in Matlab / Simulink environment. Proportional integral derivative (PID) algorithm was used as the control structure. Differential morphing and PID coefficients rates were determined with SPSA. With the optimization method, determining the differential morphing rate, PID coefficients and applying it to the quadrotor provides a very innovative method.

Investigation of the Effect of Differential Morphing on Forward Flight by Using PID Algorithm in Quadrotors

    Oktay, Tugrul; Kose, Oguz

In this study, modeling, control and differential morphing of a four-rotor unmanned aerial vehicle known as a quadrotor isdiscussed. With differential morphing, the forward flight performance and model of an autonomous quadrotor is presented.Due to the complex structure of the quadrotor, it is difficult to build the model. To get model parameters, a complete quadrotormodel is drawn in the Solidworks program. In addition, Newton-Euler equations are used in the mathematical model.Simulation is done in Matlab / Simulink environment by using the parameters obtained from the model and the state-spacemodel approach. PID (proportional, integral, derivative) is used as the quadrotor control algorithm. As a result of the study, the quadrotor forward flight is carried out using PID algorithm and differential morphing. The system characteristics of thesituations with and without differential morphing are compared and the results are presented with graphs.

Lateral Control with Differential and Collective Morphing in Quadrotors

    Oktay, Tugrul; Kose, Oguz

Quadrotor are four-rotor unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV). These vehicles are widely used in military and civilian areas. They are preferred because they eliminate the risk of life of pilots. In this study, the effect of morphing, which is a new and developmental phenomenon in unmanned aerial vehicles, on lateral flight is discussed. Quadrotor modeling is achieved by Newton Euler approach. Models with quadrotor full and morphing states were drawn in Solidworks program. Simulations were made using the state space model approach in Matlab environment with the moment of inertia and mass values obtained in these models. Proportional integral derivative(PID) is used as the quadrotor control algorithm. Simulations are performed separately for each morphing situation. The results are presented with graphic and design performance criteria.
