Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the attitudes of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation students towards Artificial Intelligence (AI) and to compare the attitudes towards AI according to sociodemographic variable. Methods: 212 students participated in this study. Participants’demographic data were recorded using a sociodemographic data form. Students’ attitudes toward AI were surveyed with the General Attitudes toward Artificial Intelligence Scale (GAAIS). This study was designed as a cross-sectional study. Results: Positive attitude scores differed significantly according to daily internet use duration (Kruskal–Wallis H = 17.934, p = 0.001), with higher scores observed among students using the internet more than four hours per day (47.04 ± 7.83). Negative attitude scores differed significantly by accommodation type (ANOVA F = 2.26, p = 0.003) and source of scholarship income (Kruskal–Wallis H = 2.772, p = 0.028). No significant differences were found according to age, gender, class level, type of high school graduated, perceived income status, and parental education level (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Students had positive attitudes toward AI. Moreover, while students’ attitudes were not affected by sociodemographic variables. However, greater use of the internet and AI was associated with more positive attitudes.

The Effect of COVID-19 Pandemic Knowledge Levels of Students Studying in Health-Related Departments on Their Resilience and Mental Well-Being

Özkan, Esra; Cilingir, Dilek; Kulakaç, Nurşen

Objective: The aim of the study is to determine the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic knowledge level of students studying in health-related departments on their resilience and mental well-being state. Materials and Methods: The population of this descriptive-cross-sectional design study consisted of students studying in health-related departments of two universities in Turkey. The students were under quarantine, so the data were collected between 15-25 March 2020 using an online questionnaire form created by the researchers, the Brief Resilience Scale, and the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale. Percentage, mean, standard deviation, Mann Whitney U Test, Kruskal-Wallis Test, and Spearman correlation analysis were used to evaluate the data. Results: According to the results, the mean age of the students was 20.0±1.87, 71.9% were female, and 62.8% were studying in an associate degree program. The mean scores of the brief resilience scale and the mental well-being scale were 19.0±4.4 and 42.0±7.0, respectively. The students’ mean knowledge level of COVID-19 disease was 26.5±3.5. There was a moderate positive correlation between the brief resilience scale and mental well-being scale (p<0.05), and a positive correlation between the knowledge level score of COVID-19 disease and the mean scores of resilience and mental well-being (p<0.05). Conclusion: It is thought that there is a significant relationship between the resilience scale and mental well-being scale of students in the quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
