Demir Çam, Sevgi; Uzun, Sevda
This study aimed to examine the bio-psychosocial experiences of patients living in Türkiye receiving hemodialysis treatment and to examine their spiritual coping strategies. A descriptive phenomenological research methodology was used in this study. This study was conducted with 23 hemodialysis patients, and interviews were conducted individually and face to face. The data were analyzed using Colaizzi’s phenomenological analysis method. The data analysis revealed four categories and thirteen main themes. It was concluded that the prolonged hemodialysis process negatively affected patients with chronic kidney disease bio-psychosocially, yet some patients used spiritual coping strategies to cope with the disease effectively. Spirituality is believed to be influential in dealing with the disease.

This study aimed to assess the spiritual care needs and spiritual well-being levels of lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy (CT). This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 110 patients in the outpatient CT unit of a university hospital. Data were collected using a personal information form, the “Three-Factor Spiritual Well-Being Scale” and the “Spiritual Care Needs Scale.” The average age of participants was 62.6 ± 8.0 years. Patients with a university or above education level, civil servants, self-employed individuals, those receiving only CT, and those with less than 5 CT cycles had significantly higher spiritual well-being scores (p < 0.05). Spiritual care needs scale scores were significantly higher for married individuals and those receiving only CT (p < 0.05). In conclusion, both spiritual well-being levels and spiritual care needs were observed to be high among lung cancer patients.

In this article, the 1st and 6th paragraphs in the “Discussion” section contain several errors. The corrected paragraphs are given below. This study aimed to assess the spiritual well-being levels and spiritual care needs of individuals diagnosed with lung cancer. The findings revealed that the patients exhibited high spiritual well-being levels, with the “harmony with nature” sub dimension scoring particularly high in relation to spiritual well-being. This aligns with several studies which reported high spiritual well-being of cancer patients (Martins et al., 2020; Rabow & Knish, 2015).” The study identified high spiritual needs among the patients, with the specific subdimension “informing them about their health” obtaining the highest scores. Notably, in the current study, it was observed that patients’ needs in terms of “informing them about their health” increased, deviating from the emphasis on love, support, and bonding seen in other studies (Kırca et al., 2023; Shi et al., 2023). This divergence is thought to be linked to differences in the disease stage. The original article has been corrected.

Yazıcı Çelebi, Gülin; Kaya, Feridun
This study was conducted to examine the association of various personal, affective, and cognitive factors with suicide risk. The study group consisted of a total of 423 individuals, including 341 (74%) females and 82 (26%) males, who lived in Turkey and declared that they were Muslims. The data of the study, in which a cross-sectional design was employed, were collected between October and December 2022. The mean age of the participants was 26.84 years (SD = 9.88, min–max = 18–64). The data collection measures included the Psychological Distress Scale, the Perception of God Scale, the Two-Dimensional Self-Esteem Scale, the Suicide Probability Scale, and a personal information form. Pearson correlation analysis and Hierarchical Multiple Linear Regression analysis were employed in the analysis of the data obtained from the research. In the study, it was found that gender, age, suicide attempt, communication with the mother, communication with the father, psychological distress, self-esteem, and perception of God explained 58% of the variance in suicide risk. Psychological distress had the strongest positive association with suicide risk (β = 0.136, p < 0.001), while self-esteem had the strongest negative relation (β = − 0.454, p < 0.001). In conclusion, it was determined that the female gender, suicide attempt, and psychological distress increased the risk of suicide, but that age, positive communication with parents, self-esteem, and positive perception of God decreased it. The findings of the research were discussed in light of the literature.
