Yapılan bu araştırmanın, İvrindi bölgesinde yer alan madenlerin işletilmesi sürecinin ele alınması, İvrindi sosyal ve iktisadi hayatına etkilerinin tespit edilmesi ve aynı zamanda 19. yüzyıl Osmanlı sosyo-ekonomik tarihi alanında yapılan çalışmalara katkı sağlaması amaçlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın sınırları, İvrindi bölgesinde bulunan antimon madenleri ile ilgili 1880 ile 1920 yılları arasını kapsayan dönemdeki faaliyetlerdir. Yapılan çalışma sürecinde arşiv belgeleri başta olmak üzere, dönemle ilgili yazılı, görsel eserler ve diğer araştırma eserlerden yararlanılmıştır. Çalışmada betimleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır Bu çalışma üç ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde "İvrindi Tarihi" hakkında araştırma yapılmıştır. İkinci bölümde "Osmanlı Devleti'nde Madencilik" konusu ele alınmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde ise tezimizin asıl konusu olan "İvrindi Nahiyesinde Bulunan Antimon Madeni" hakkında çalışmalar yer almıştır.In this study, firstly, a general literature review about the operation of the mines in the Ottoman Empire will be made, and then researches on the Antimony mines that were mined in the İvrindi region of Balıkesir will be included. The aim of this research is to deal with the operation of the mines in the İvrindi region, to determine its effects on the social and economic life of Ivrindi, and also to contribute to the studies in the field of 19th century Ottoman socio-economic history. The limits of this study are the activities related to the antimony mines in the İvrindi region between 1880 and 1920. During the study process, especially archival documents, written and visual works and other research works related to the period were used. The descriptive method was used in the study. This study consists of three main parts. In the first part, a research has been made about "Ivrindi History". In the second part, the subject of "Mining in the Ottoman Empire" is discussed.
